Each Experience is Valuable; No Experience is a Waste

If you take time to explore your own calling, you will likely be surprised at how your past experiences—especially the ones your regarded as “difficult” or a “waste”—are putting heads together to strengthen and lead you in line with your life’s calling or destiny.

No experience is a waste. There is no task, no job, no obstacle or challenge that is useless if we see how it fits into your calling. Every sorrow, every joy, every defeat, and every success leads to general advancement—yes, all things work together for good! If we can sit back and learn a lesson or two from every setback and progress, we will come to the realization that each person’s story can make anybody at least a bit wiser in this university of life.

There is Value Below the Surface of Each Experience

Taking a look back, I realize how, at times, it was difficult and frustrating to do a certain task, or to experience a certain challenge, especially if I had affinity for something tied to it; I felt like I was being held back, but later or much later on in the future, I came to realize the truth: I used a skill or lesson I acquired or learned during the difficult or frustrating times of the past. Those difficult and frustrating times were meant to prepare me for the future, or for whatever was to come.

If you take time to explore your own calling, you will likely be surprised at how your past experiences—especially the ones your regarded as “difficult” or a “waste”—are putting heads together to strengthen and lead you in line with your life’s calling or destiny. In a way, it’s advisable we become like little children again, by watching and listening to our past experiences and those of other people, so that we can pick up lessons—no matter how painful or joyful—and grow. By observing your past difficulties and the lifestyle of people who persevered through their difficulties, you will be inspired to keep on pressing on!

During certain times in life, everyone needs moments that can draw their attention and compel them to wake up; such moments usually occur when we least expect them to, whether we desire to experience them or not. Instead of waiting for them to occur, or wondering why they have occurred, we have to look for the opportunities that such moments provide.

Don’t wallow in your misfortune; don’t keep on wondering why a certain experience has crossed your path; instead of regretting, act by making the most of your obstacle, and turn it from an obstacle into an opportunity.

Your Life is Speaking—Listen; Don’t Blindly Follow the Whims of the World

Your calling or destiny goes beyond just doing anything, or just following the whims of the world; it calls into question your inner potential which may be active or latent; so, just don’t just tell your life what you want to do—listen to what it actually wants to do with you!

Just because you have the opportunity to become a medical doctor or astronaut, doesn’t mean you should! Just because you can become anything, doesn’t mean you should become anything—just for the sake of it! Destiny has placed a responsibility on each person, to not only do whatever they are capable of doing, but most importantly, to do what they are meant to do.

Most of us start the day by doing what every other person is doing, or doing the things that our eyes first get in contact with; but we haven’t always been able to decide or do what we are actually meant to do. Your calling or destiny goes beyond just doing anything, or just following the whims of the world; it calls into question your inner potential which may be active or latent; so, don’t just tell your life what you want to do—listen to what it actually wants to do with you!

A lot of people, especially those who are well-to-do, wander through life without knowing their purpose, or what they are meant to do; they blindly follow the whims of the world—wherever the winds of other people’s whims take them. Some of them believe that those who reach their potential have extraordinary talents or gifts. But the lives of many people have proven that pursuing one’s calling or destiny isn’t reserved only for certain people.

Pursue Your Calling or Destiny by Listening to Your Own Life

What is the best way to start pursuing your calling or destiny? The best way to start is by listening to your own life. This is a good advice that was given by Frederick Buechner, an author who was a schoolteacher in one part of his life, and a minister in another. He observed that finding one’s call or destiny has more to do with one’s awareness, and less to do with following the whims of the world, or just doing anything for doing sake!

When one’s level of awareness is high, it becomes easier to listen to their life speak; it becomes easier for one’s calling or destiny to come through. If anyone lives with an awareness that is highly alert, then boredom, pain, excitement, happiness, and any experience can end up being a key moment—and thus proving that all things work together for good!

Awareness has to be cultivated, or else, it will likely not be experienced. If anyone gains awareness by paying attention to their lives and the lessons it teaches them, then that person will find their calling or destiny, and won’t feel lost. Each experience (inconvenience, success, challenge, setback, frustration, etc.) will have more meaning—and as one listens this way, their life will speak!

With high awareness, your calling, destiny or life may call you late in the night or early in the morning, and tell you what you are supposed to do with your talents, gifts, abilities, and passions. Your calling or destiny can help you understand what has happened to you, and why; also, it can give you guidance. In addition, it can open up a whole new world for you, a world you have never considered before. All you need to do is listen and have awareness.

Not All Types of Fear are Bad

Fear has two sides to it. Fear can work as a deterrent, and can also serve as an effective motivator: there are bad types of fear and good types of fear. Generally, not all types of fear are bad.

If we are not careful, we could allow fear run our lives. Many of us avoid risk because of fear and hope that by avoiding fear we can minimize our chances of failing, and thereby help ourselves move in the right direction of our destinies. We need to know when to avoid fear, and when to make good use of it!

Stephen Hawking: Lived Life to the Fullest Despite His Constraints & Limitations

Our lives are haunted by the ghosts of what could be, or what might have been. No matter the fears we are haunted by, there will always come a crucial moment when we must choose to become something that’s more than a bystander—and this could require us to make good use of fear as a motivator, instead of deterrent. Crucial moments mostly happen in the mind before they unfold in real life.

If you genuinely feel you have a calling, and believe in it, you must be willing to cast away all fear, step out, do what needs to be done, and see what happens: do your best and leave the rest in GOD’s great hands.

So, use fear as a motivator and go out to search for what your calling requires you to search for; if you don’t do so, you will feel unsatisfied and frustrated, especially if you see how other people use fear in a good way to succeed, while you might look at them and think they have luck or some kind of unfair advantage. Do not allow such thoughts deceive you.

Although some people might be lucky or born with special privileges, you still have a calling that you need to put all fears aside and answer.

What If You Can’t Achieve Your Desires, or Don’t Like What Life Throws at You?

Some people believe they can accomplish whatever they set their hearts on doing. Many people haven’t been able to accomplish what they set their hearts on doing. In the end, though, even a number of the most successful people have realized that getting everything you want doesn’t always attract happiness.

Take a look at the world today: it seems a few people have much more control over their lives than many other people. Regardless of whether you have control over your life, or don’t like what life throws at you, you can control the way you react to any situation; how you react to situations can make a big difference in your life because, generally, life is much more than just getting whatever you want, and accepting whatever life throws at you.

It will be difficult to be your best self if you are fulfilling someone else’s dream instead of chasing your dreams. This is the major reason why more and more people keep on moving from one job or relationship to another, trying their best to find happiness, but failing miserably; quitting one thing for the promise of something better, only to find disappointment in the next job or relationship after discovering that it is more complicated than the one they escaped from.

If we want to be satisfied in all directions, and regardless of whether we achieve our desires or not, we have to rise above the pettiness of our desires, and do what life requires of us. A general sense of fulfillment comes in every direction when we are ready to embrace pain instead of avoiding it.

What determines your fate is not how successful you are at avoiding difficulties, but what you do when they arrive

It’s quite unfortunate that tragedies are inevitable; it’s so unfortunate that we live in a world where bad things happen to good people, regardless of the good they do, and what they wish for. What determines our destiny is how we react to hardship when it comes. Although pain and suffering can be very intimidating obstacles, they are not strong enough to keep your spirit from achieving its purpose. In fact, pain and suffering can sometimes be powerful catalysts for making great discoveries and helping you see your real purpose in life.

There is Great Relief in Letting Go of What Could Have Been

It’s a waste of time to continue thinking about what could have been. What could have been does not matter as much as where you presently are, and where you are heading to.

Dwelling on what could have been only holds people back from living fully in the present and moving ahead into the future which is always there for the taking.

Life is full of surprises and will continue to be full of surprises; therefore, it’s of no help fixing your mind on regrets about the past: it’s not useful to try and recover what has been lost when you can gain far more than all that you’ve ever lost.

“What could have happened if…?”. Well, in the eyes of the future, what could have happened doesn’t and wouldn’t matter much. Okay, what about thinking the other way and asking: “what would not have happened if…?”. Now, that’s a completely different question.

Have the mindset of “ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD”. Look for the good that could come out of things if they either happen, or don’t happen.

If some things happen, there might be no new foundations or directions. If some things don’t happen, we might not be able to learn and encourage others: if some things don’t happen to us, more people might not be able to look at our own lives and gain strength or motivation to face the challenges in their own lives.

Everything that happens in your life matters: your life has a lot of significance: Each person has the power to make a great story out of their life if they start to see difficulties as opportunities

Value whatever is happening in your life now; no matter how difficult it is, it is important. Make the most of your life right now instead of waiting for the right opportunity. Do not concentrate on what you’ve ended up achieving when your life doesn’t look like how you planned it to be.

Many people have had disappointments, setbacks, and unexpected surprises that have disrupted the way they thought life should be. Many people have been in situations where they thought their life was messed up, and lacked purpose or meaningfulness.

The difference between people who have achieved something remarkable, and people who haven’t, has more to do with mindset and less to do with the circumstances or negative situations. Although it is true that we might not be able to control what life throws at us, we can actually control how we react to what life throws at us.

The better we learn how to react to what life throws at us, the more we will be able to achieve a life that could be more meaningful life than any plan would ever attract to us. In order to achieve a more meaningful life, we have to let go of what could have been; we have to let go of what we think we deserve; we have to embrace what we have in the moment because can lead us to something better than we could ever have imagined.

Pay Attention to Your “Still Small Voice” No Matter How Noisy the World Becomes

No matter how noisy the world around you becomes, and no matter how busy you are, there would always be a still small voice that whispers to you in quieter moments, reminding you about the life you should live, whether you have lived it, or are yet to live it. Regardless of the circumstances around you, if you listen hard enough, you will still be able to hear that still small voice.

You Were Born Not To Be Misled Into Doing Something Unimportant To You

When you started becoming conscious at a certain point in life, you likely believed you were born to do something important; however, something happened: school or college came calling; your parents encouraged you to become a lawyer; your uncle told you that becoming a medical doctor would be the best thing for you, rather than following your heart to become what your still small voice continuously encouraged you to become. In fact, when the “real life” started, you gave up on your still small voice and abandoned your dreams altogether because other people made you believe that you had to grow up and be what they thought you should become.

Other people made you believe you were immature and selfish until you began to doubt yourself and wonder whether your beliefs and still small voice were genuine in the first place.

Many People Give Excuses For Not Going After What They Were Born To Become

Yes, many people give excuses for not listening to their still small voice: they give excuses for not going after what they believe they were born to achieve.

There will always be a way for you to do something meaningful which wouldn’t force you to conform to other people’s beliefs or interests. The more human history is enlarging, the more we are beginning to realize that the way things were done in the past no longer works. Things in the world are demanding a fresh approach, and we need something new—everyone needs to go back to their still small voice. There is more to life than what is happening to you.

Many times in life you have to trust your gut—that still small voice—and do what is uncomfortable and likely painful; but the more you move ahead, the more there will be signs along the way, and there will be markers to indicate that you are heading in the right direction. Each person can find their life’s purpose; even though it may be uncomfortable and chaotic, something valuable will emerge from the discomfort and chaos. If you follow your still small voice, be patient and persevere, you will find something important which you can be proud of.

The greatest wisdom lies in knowing that you know nothing (The inspiring story of Socrates.)

Naturally, when anybody opens up their mind to absorb more knowledge, or learn anything, they become more knowledgeable—and in many in stances, wiser! This is exactly what part of the title of this article means, especially when knowledge is gained on the platform of “knowing nothing”—or, at least, “knowing little”.

A lot of wise people have lived on the Earth, and vanished from it. Many of them left their mark, but there is one person whose story and status as one of the wisest people ever, will continue to ring strong inspiring bells in the heart of humanity—Socrates!

The major problem in today’s world, as it was during Socrates’ time in ancient Greece, was that many people who were regarded as elites, professionals, or philosophers, “knew quite a lot”—but didn’t know as much as Socrates had presumed that they knew prior to the time he interviewed them, and interacted with them intellectually.

Socrates was a common man who came from a poor background and lived in Athens of ancient Greece. He lived during a time when human beings believed so much in nature spirits whom they worshipped and called “gods”.

Socrates was not well bred; this made him a bit disadvantaged during his times; he wasn’t considered to be among the “elite class” neither. He was a polite man who—unlike the elites, professionals and philosophers—offered his services for free. He didn’t care much about being popular; he didn’t start or establish any school like the philosophers who lived after his time.

The beginning: How Socrates arrived at the conclusive and popular statement: “The greatest wisdom lies in knowing that you know nothing”

Along the journey of life, many people come across a lot of statements and beliefs, and are taught a lot of things which “might” or “might not” be true. Many people accept whatever they are told or informed, but this was never the case with Socrates.

Socrates was always inquisitive about everything and never accepted anything as true until he could prove or disprove it by himself; even the oracle at Delphi—the oracle of the ancient Greek gods—couldn’t convince him that he was the wisest person during his time.

Actually, Socrates started gaining popularity in the ancient world when the powerful oracle of Delphi declared that he was the wisest man alive. When this information spread around like wild fire, everybody wanted to know who Socrates was—even the people who had already known him as an inquisitive person who was never fed up of asking about the why, when, where, how of everything.

How would someone so inquisitive and thirsty for knowledge be the wisest man alive? How could that be? How? While people were trying to know more about Socrates, he was already busy questioning the oracle’s judgement and proclamation, and asking why he was the wisest man in the whole wide world. In fact, when he received the news, he called himself a fool—but the oracle still insisted that he was the wisest person!

The overly inquisitive Socrates was confused. Why? In terms of reputation and records, he had none; he was a novice, and nowhere near the elevated heights of the elites, professionals, philosophers, or popular Sophists of his time. On the other hand, his earthly reputation didn’t change the reputation that the lofty gods had concerning him; they esteemed him to be the wisest person, and that was the end of the discussion—the oracle of Delphi would say no more! For it had spoken as loud and as clear as usual.

Socrates’ personal search for the truth led to his conclusion that “The greatest wisdom lies in knowing that you know nothing”

As Socrates saw it, in terms of reputation and records, which the society held and still holds on high esteem, he really knew nothing at all. Socrates wouldn’t accept the oracle’s judgement; so he made a strong decision to find out why the oracle of Delphi declared he was the wisest man when the politicians and most elite people of the day didn’t even know he existed.

He made up his mind to continue being as skeptical as he used to be about everything prior to the declaration of the oracle. In order to be convinced, he decided to make it his life’s mission to put the judgement of the oracle to test. To do this, he started interviewing the greatest and most elite people in ancient Greece, and assess the type of wisdom they had. He wanted to know what stuff they were made of.

Socrates knew that if he could convincingly find someone who was wiser than himself, he would be able to disprove the wise oracle for the first time ever. In all reality, the oracle at Delphi was very powerful and believed to have never failed when making judgements or declarations.

Years later he came to a wise conclusion which is a grand lesson for all humanity

After interviewing the first person who happened to be an elite politician, Socrates concluded that—although the politician, and many people thought that the politician was wise—the politician was not really wise.

In fact, after the interview, as Socrates was walking away from the politician, he reflected in his thoughts: “Well, I am certainly wiser than this man. It is only too likely that neither of us has any knowledge to boast of; but he thinks that he knows something which he does not know, whereas I am quite conscious of my ignorance…it seems that I am wiser than he is to this small extent—that I do not think that I know what I do not know.”

It was based on this insight that Socrates used to approach future interviews, and mold his unique foundation for philosophy. The masses, and the politician whom Socrates interviewed, believed that the politician was wise and knew enough to be regarded as a wise man.

Yet, after having a conversation with the man, Socrates came to the conclusion that the politician overestimated the level of the knowledge and wisdom he (the politician) possessed. In addition, the politician pretended to know things that he didn’t really know much or anything about.

In many aspects of life, the politician was regarded as being intellectually superior to Socrates, but Socrates found out that the man foolishly assumed that he knew many other things, and that his assumptions gave him the privilege to assume things beyond his specialization or subject domain.

Certainly, this type of mentality is not the hall mark of true wisdom. Maybe if King Solomon or Jesus Christ lived during the time of Socrates, and Socrates had visited them, he might have been able to disprove the oracle’s judgement because of the history of their profound wisdom—this is a subject for discussion which would be suitable for another day.

Socrates compared his wisdom with that of the politician and further concluded that he was wiser than the politician, and not because he knew more than the politician, but because, unlike the politician, he (Socrates) knew that there were many things that he (Socrates) didn’t know, and he (Socrates) admitted!

Every day afterwards, Socrates discovered that many elite people pretended to know what they had no knowledge of

To Socrates’ surprise, other politicians and elite people with the highest reputation (whom he later interviewed) were almost completely deficient of real wisdom; also, many people who had much lesser reputations were much wiser than the so-called “highly reputable elites” of the society.

It got to a point that Socrates lost belief he would ever find a wise person. Even poets of his time, when questioned, couldn’t convincingly state the meaning of the poems they wrote. When asked many questions, the poets were just as arrogant as the politicians.

With time, Socrates observed that the whole society was making a mistake by assuming that people who had a certain specialty were “wise” or “elite”. He began to believe that it was wrong to assume that people who had success or a special talent, were generally wise, or geniuses.

Socrates was perplexed by how people carried themselves so high as if they possessed all the knowledge in the world; worst still, when questioned, most of them weren’t capable of proving that they had certain knowledge they indirectly claimed to have.

Socrates discovered a lot when trying to disprove the oracle’s declaration that he was the wisest man of his time: everywhere he turned to, he found presumptuous and arrogant elite people who were only pretending to be wise, but didn’t have “real wisdom”.

Finally, Socrates believed that there was nothing spectacular about the wisdom he possessed—even though he had come to the conclusion that other people were not a wise as they claimed to be

At the end of Socrates’ attempt to disprove the oracle—which he couldn’t—he started believing that the oracle could be right after all; but even so, there wasn’t anything interesting about his wisdom that one should be too excited about.

He felt that, although other people liked to exaggerate what they knew, and show off their wisdom, he wasn’t necessarily wiser than them. He started asking himself:

  • What if being wise means not having enough knowledge, and admitting that one doesn’t have enough knowledge?
  • What if being wise means not having enough knowledge, and being aware of ones limitations?
  • What if being wise means finding out how much one does not know?
  • What if the wisest person on Earth didn’t necessarily have all or sufficient knowledge, but was someone who had the courage to admit that he knew very little, or nothing?

Conclusion

It is very likely that the powerful and real-life oracle of Delphi in ancient Greece was right from the very beginning when it had proclaimed that Socrates was the wisest man of his age, regardless of the fact that he was a nobody in society, and was a novice who was nowhere near the level of the so-called elite class of his time.

Whatever the oracle truly meant—which is not so clear—Socrates wanted to get clarity about it, and pursue it to the later end; and he did with all humility, simplicity and honesty. Socrates critically addressed the things that people think they know and what they really know—these are two different things that people always mix together and cause a lot of disharmony in the society—sometimes, leading to a fake society.

It is true that when compared to universal knowledge (knowledge of the universe, or knowledge of everything), we don’t know much at all; only GOD does! However, this shouldn’t stop us from exploring and learning more without being boastful or excessively assuming.

10 important things you should “do” and 10 others you should “not do” in order to be contented and successful in life

Where do you think you will be in the next three or five years? Probably, you could be in the most beautiful city having fun with family or friends; or maybe, you could be on an Island you had longed desired to visit since you were a kid. To a great extent, your success lies in your hands. Regardless of how many definitions people have for contentment and success, contentment and success actually depend a lot on what you define them to be. Your definitions might differ a lot from the definitions of other people.

What make you contented and successful in life is personal to you. Your siblings, partner, parents and friends might have their own definitions of contentment and success, but their definitions will always remain their own; they aren’t meant for you! Whatever makes or will make you feel contented, happy and successful, is what your definition of contentment and success should be.

Being contented and successful isn’t necessarily about having all the riches in the world, or winning every award. Actually, it’s all about personal fulfilment. One person might feel contented and successful travelling around the world, while another person might feel contented and successful pursuing their own passion in a country, city, or even a small village.

Although we might not always be able to give an all-encompassing definition of contentment and success, history has shown that there are certain things that can give and maximize one’s level of contentment and success, and make one more contented, productive, happy, and successful.

Generally, there are some things you must do, and others you must not do—“do not”:

10 important things you should do in order to be contented and successful

(1) Find what you like doing and engage in it

Oprah Winfrey once made a statement that has become a very popular quote: “You know you are on the road to success if you would do your job and not be paid for it”. In order words, if you would be happy doing your job without receiving payment, then you are on the road to success. If you don’t like something, then you would be wasting your time engaging in it.

(2) Always be positive and think big

It might be difficult to always feel big or great, but it will always be great to feel great. The danger most of us will ever face will arise because of our inability to think positively, and think big. Many people fall too short of their expectations because from the very beginning, they aimed too low and were consistently negative along the way. Don’t always put away your dreams because of negativity, or because you want to follow an easier route that leads to nowhere. Have faith and unwavering thoughts that you will succeed!

(3) Balance or harmonize your work together with your life

Success could become as boring as it usually does whenever people concentrate or engage too much in what they like, and to such an extent that it takes over all other interesting things in their lives—they make their work or dreams take over their life instead of harmonizing the two together by providing time for both work and life. Don’t spend countless hours on your work or dreams to the detriment of your entire life.

(4) Be consistently active—always be willing to work

Every now and then, give yourself a task to do—be active! If we think about all the great achievements that a number of men and women accomplished and make this world a much better place, we will appreciate the benefits of being active and sticking to commitments. Leonardo da Vinci once said something like this: “It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and made things happen”.

(5) Be courageous enough to follow your intuition and take risks

If you strongly believe and desire to achieve something, then you might have a faint idea about what to do in order to materialize it. When you have sufficient belief and perception, no matter how little, don’t be afraid to take a step (or necessary steps) to get things going. Generally, you have to trust your own instincts in many areas of life.

(6) Establish positive relationships

The best societies, organizations and institutions are the ones that have or cultivate positive relationships which lead to productivity and success. The best types of leaders or people have always been those who never causes commotions, and didn’t fight with people; they were friendly to everyone around them, and people liked them for their friendly nature.

(7) Always have faith—believe that you have the ability to succeed

Success depends a lot on your how much imagine yourself achieving something(s)—achieving the unseen! In life you will always come across people who will doubt your abilities and give you reasons why you won’t achieve your goals and desires, most especially when you are yet to take a step; but regardless of what they think, do, or say, keep on having faith in your own abilities; then one day your hidden potential will come to light much to your utter surprise!

(8) Always educate yourself

We all know the popular wise words: “knowledge is power”. Indeed, knowledge is really power, and probably more than power too. Educating yourself with knowledge and skills could enhance your potential. On terms of financial success, studies have shown that the more knowledgeable or educated one is, the more like they are to make money. Not all types of education have to be formal; one can be educated on anything that can bring contentment and success.

(9) Set boundaries with certain types of people

Generally, be loving, caring, and have open arms, but don’t accept disrespect and abuse from people who normally emit negative vibes. The world has very odd and negative people, and it’s better to know when and how to handle some of their excesses which could infect you on the long run when you don’t straighten things out and early enough.

(10) Always be ready for the unexpected—anything can happen tomorrow

As long as you live, do all you can to acquire knowledge and understand how things work, but always keep this thought in mind: no amount of knowledge or understanding can take away the unexpected circumstances that each person will inevitably face tomorrow. Always have a Plan B in mind in case the unexpected happens.

10 important things you should not do in order to be contented and successful

(1) Do not blame other people whenever things don’t work

Everyone will be able to taste true success if they put down their garments of excuses, stop making excuses, and start being accountable for most of the things they blame other people for. Most people have the tendency to blame others, and this usually delays collective progress.

(2) Do not doubt yourself—don’t be afraid of failure

Your level of confidence today will continue to play a huge role in how contented or successful you will be in the future. Confidence in yourself can take you to the next level even when you are yet to achieve your dreams. Don’t pay attention to doubts. Whenever you feel discouraged, concentrate on positivity and ignore discouragement and doubt.

(3) Do not put important things off

It can be difficult to change. Self-improvement and self-development are not always easy initiate and do. When things are difficult, it becomes easier to keep them for another day. Stop procrastinating, and start putting those important pieces together. To be contented and succeed at the highest level, you must stop putting off important things.

(4) Do not think that you don’t have a choice

Regardless any circumstance, there will always be a choice. Sometimes you might even have to choose between two things that look equally average, below average, or even bad. However, there will still be a chance to make a choice. In any situation, don’t sell your soul!

(5) Do not always continue doing the same thing and expecting a different result—use new ideas

Although many people are aware that two plus two will always be equal to four, they waste all their determination and energy to make two plus two equal to five, or a number that’s much higher—this is illogical and unnatural! Albert Einstein said—and I agree—that insanity means “doing the same thing and expecting a different result”. The truth of the matter is that in many areas of life, if you keep using one approach, you will continue to get the same results, no matter how much you hope for something else.

(6) Do not expect everything to always work out precisely the way want

People can be untrustworthy, and nature does things whenever or however it likes; so nothing is completely certain—this has been the way of the world since the beginning. Don’t trust anyone completely, and don’t always expect people to love or help you. On the other hand, do all you can to make things work, and leave the rest in the hands of people and Mother Nature. Note that everything will not always work out on its own; be creative and take responsibility for yourself.

(7) Do not say “yes” when you are supposed to say “no”

The Christian Bible says, “let your yes be yes, and your no be no”. When you say “yes” to one thing, then at the same time you would be saying “no” to others. If you say yes to academics and examinations, then you must say no to “playing around consistently”. The major problem in our society today is that saying “no” is a great challenge for many people, and this has caused a lot of problems in organizations, businesses, and relationships because saying “yes” has led to lots of disasters. In many instances, refrain from using comments like “I am not certain”, “I might not be able to”, etc.

(8) Do not mismanage your finances

Regardless of your income or how much you make, if you manage your money, your financial stability will be ensured and maintained over a long period of time. Keep track of your expenses in order to have insight and prevent over-spending—or spending on irrelevant things. Take a critical look at your expenses in order to be sure your finances are not wasting.

(9) Do not compare your life with the lives of other people

It is quite unfortunate that many people measure their progress or success in life by comparing their lives with that of other people who live around or far away from them. Many people have the tendency to compare the negatives in their lives with the positives in the lives of other people. Instead of comparing yourself with people who are better off than you, think about all the homeless, poor and severely ill people whom you are better off than—count your blessings! If you want to start feeling contented and successful, value your own life and the things you have, great or small.

(10) Don’t live in the past—live in the present, and concentrate on the future

There could be a lot of benefits gained from by looking at past successes, and getting inspiration from them; however, one should be careful because if it gets to one’s head, it could make one become stagnant and not move ahead to achieve more success. Also, if one concentrates on a negative past, they could become much more negative and not achieve anything substantial in the future.

Milestone—About 3,000 followers in 10 months, and 2,148 eBook downloads in 3 months

I never thought I would publish an article about blogging milestones such as “number of followers”, or “number of downloads”—but I’ve just done that now! However, the aim is only to provide motivation for those whom it could inspire.

Number of followers

When this year started on January 1, 2019, I had only 187 followers after about 2½ years from the day I started operating this site! But as at the date of publishing this post (November 11, 2019), I have around 3,110 followers—this almost about 3,000 followers more since the beginning of year 2019.

Number of eBook downloads

Although WordPress.com stated on my dashboard that file download counts were not recorded before July 2019, I actually started putting free download buttons to my eBooks on articles/posts since the middle of August 2019, which is roughly 3 months ago.

During this time, my 91-page self-published eBook which is on Amazon, was downloaded a total of 1,320 times on my site, while the remaining 7 eBooks were downloaded 828 times. Generally, my eBooks have been downloaded 2,148 times on my site within the last 3 months from the date this article was published.

How to lose weight fast by thinking thin

Contrary to what many people think, the foundation of success for any weight loss plan, program or procedure starts in the brain, not outside of it. Many studies have shown that when certain people stick to a diet, it works; on the other hand, the same (or other types) of diets don’t work on a long term basis for other people.

Advances in psychological studies have proven that—like success—thoughts also govern the outcome of weight loss plans, programs or procedures. Very experienced psychologists have succeeded in developing and applying mental strategies or tricks to help people who have not been successful at dieting or weight loss programs because of the type of passion and emotions they have for food.

Many people love to eat and find it difficult to say no to the type of rich foods and chocolaty desserts that usually end up harming a lot of people’s bodies. Many people are constantly faced with the temptation to watch the sorts of foods they eat, and the quantities they consume.

At the end of the day, many people end up being unsuccessful with the weight loss programs they once planned to adhere. If such is your experience, then you may need to work with a psychotherapist, trained psychologist, or diet coach.

What is “thinking thin”?—The science of “thinking thin”

“As you think, so you are”—The Christian Bible. “Thinking thin” simply means having the mindset or mentality of someone whose weight is either thin, slim, or just okay—not fat. “Being fat” depends a lot on how one thinks, feels and handles everything associated with it.

The easiest way to lose weight fast is by thinking thin: you can think thin to lose weight

One’s psychology about weight will have an impact on how they go about gaining weight, maintaining weight, or losing weight. People who struggle to lose weight have a completely different mindset from those who are thin or slim, or just okay with their weight!

The people who enjoy food and eat it whenever they like, have a very different mentality from those who believe they have to consistently monitor what they eat, and control their food intake.

The mentality of thin people—people who “think thin”

Many studies have shown that thin people eat intuitively: they only eat when they are hungry, and they stop once their stomach is full. If thin people are not hungry, then they won’t eat. It’s as simple as that for them!

Those who succeed at thinking thin without any qualms are used to eating when their stomach feels somewhere between “slightly hungry” and “hungry”. Also, they usually don’t eat when their stomach is somewhere between “almost satisfied” and “full”.

On the other hand, people who struggle to control their weight and adhere to weight loss programs, usually force themselves to control what they eat—they consciously and consistently have to monitor what they eat.

Subconsciously or consciously, thin people can differentiate between “desire” and “real hunger”

When people who think thin see something that looks tasty, they first assess and check whether they are really hungry or not before taking a decision to eat. People who think thin don’t give into unnecessary cravings for food, especially excess of it.

People who think thin are able to easily resist the temptation to distract themselves from a diet, or tolerate food cravings without giving in. Why? Because they are always perceptive to the obvious fact that—like hunger—food cravings will pass away with the passage of time!

Behind every change in behavior, there’s a lot of change in thinking: you can use the psychology of real weight loss to succeed in losing or controlling weight

If you are the type of person who finds it difficult to adhere to diets or weight loss programs—you struggle to control what you eat—then there is one very powerful thing you can do to turn everything around: “think like a thin people”, and use the psychology of real weight loss to succeed in losing or controlling weight.

In most case when it’s difficult to change one’s mindset and start thinking like thin people, then that’s the perfect time to seek the help of a psychotherapist, trained psychologist, or diet coach.

A successful thinking thin program for you

Psychotherapists or trained psychologists have an understanding of weight loss that is different from what the majority of people believe. The experienced ones believe that weight loss doesn’t depend much on what people eat; they believe that it depends on why people eat, and how they eat.

A clear and complete understanding of the mindset of a thin person is crucial and can help anyone change how they handle or deal with food, and control the physical outlook of their body.

If you find it hard controlling your weight and how you eat, there is a highly recommendable program that can work for you the same way it has worked for two individuals I know.

By the time you finish the program, you will have the ability to start “thinking thin”, and both weight loss and control would look easy and natural—not genetical, or based on one’s fast rate of metabolism!

Click here, read more and subscribe to the package which has helped thousands of people, as reviews have shown!

Thinking thin will make you slim down and remain slim—use it to re-train your brain, and lose weight naturally

Are you fed-up being unsuccessful with your weight loss battle? Would you like to get used to thinking the way slim people think—by “thinking thin”? Always remember that you have the same will power that “thinking-thin” people have, even though it seems unfair that you can’t control your weight or how you eat at the moment.

Stephen Hawking: lived life to the fullest despite his constraints and limitations

It’s quite common to see people live with different types of physical and spiritual constraints that either incapacitates them and makes them become so weary and weak to such a point that they lose all hope; on the other hand, it could invigorate them and make them become highly competitive and productive individuals.

It’s a sad fact that despite the wealth and abundance some people enjoy in the absence of disabilities or challenges, they still remain hopeless and unproductive! Their life proves the fact that life isn’t always what it seems to be from the outside—and yes, life is always what it is from the inside.

It is only from the inside that we can overcome

You can overcome all the limitations and constraints that engulf you if you muster enough inner strength, develop unwavering faith and tap into your unlimited potential.

No matter how difficult life is—even if you have been to the brink—you have to keep on focussing on how to apply the combination of your abilities, constraints and opportunities, and always remain flexible in your pursuit of what is important in the real world.

The resilience and productivity of Stephen Hawking in the midst of physical odds and constraints

Stephen Hawking was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist and author who produced an extraordinary amount of work even though he had motor neurone disease.

He was almost completely paralyzed, and communicated through a speech-generating device which made his thoughts comprehensible to interested hearers who were always ready to listen to the interesting things he said.

Stephen Hawking might have appeared to be handicapped and doomed to live an unproductive life—but no; in the midst of his physical constraints, he explored and unveiled some of the secrets and wonders of the universe.

Yes, it is true that he wasn’t able to move around by himself. And yes, it’s also true that he needed assistance; however, despite the obstacles and assistance he was given, he continued to explore the stars and utilized his opportunity to study, think and write books.

The constant and never-decreasing desire to know more about the universe remained his compulsion and passion. Stephen Hawing had a very clear and undimmed idea of what he wanted despite facing limitations that would normally make many people unproductive for a lifetime.

We can all learn from the faith, zeal, courage, hard work and resilience of Stephen Hawking!

Why you always have the ability to develop new insights & change your state of mind for the better

If you were to move around and ask hundreds of people how long they haven’t been happy, you’d get dozens of different answers that would either fall into the basket of happiness, or the basket of unhappiness.

With the level of hardship and sorrows in today’s world, it won’t be surprising to get answers such as: “I haven’t been unhappy for a whole month”, or “I haven’t been unhappy for three months”, “I haven’t been happy for six months”, etc., etc., etc.

If you go a bit further and ask the same people (who claimed not to be happy for a long period of time) if they literally meant what they said, you’d be surprised to hear that they’ve had some happy moments in between the time period they earlier claimed not to be happy.

Our states of mind are temporary—thoughts are the most powerful assets we have at our disposal

The way each person thinks at any moment in time can have a profound impact on their reasoning and the type of reaction or answer(s) they would give if they are asked questions.

The predominant thought at the moment could make you say things that are literally untrue if you look deeper than the moment. If each person makes a bold decision and selects their thoughts, they can always develop new insights at any time and change their state of mind for the better.

What has most often been overlooked is the obvious fact that our predominant thoughts at the moment—conscious or subconscious—are the same ones that manipulate our experiences and lives from behind the scenes.

A clear mind will help you develop new insights, depending on your area(s) of interest in life

Naturally, regardless of the predominant thought (positive or negative) that you hold in your mind at a particular moment, it takes a few seconds before another one comes in—and as always—a new one, depending on your state of mind at the moment.

The truth of the matter is that our thoughts change all the time, and it possible for us to have between hundreds of thoughts, and thousands of thoughts per day.

Also, we pay more attention to some thoughts than others which we might only give a few seconds of our concentration; this depends on what we are thinking about at a moment in time, and our ability to control our minds from the unceasing trend of endless thoughts that usually float around without restriction.

The more you leave those thoughts alone—especially negative ones—the clearer and healthier your thinking will be

It’s very true that thoughts can make someone age quicker, or look rejuvenated and more youthful. Because thoughts have a strong effect on the body, it would do us much good if we concentrate on new insights that consist of positive thoughts.

It’s quite okay to feel frustrated; however, feelings of frustration—which can be discarded if we make up our minds—always come as a result of the way we think regarding a situation, person, or thing.

Each person can always trace the reason behind their feelings—developing new insights can change the way we feel at the moment

Every conscious individual has a personal feedback system that can provide insight on why a certain feeling occupies their mind; this insight can always be accessed—it is always available!

The most successful people failed many times over, but found always found ways to develop new insight(s) and move forward ever, backward never.

Always remember—never forget—that you always have the ability to develop new insights and change your state of mind for the better.

Before you venture into anything valuable, assess your values

While living in a world that is overshadowed by a powerful universe which cherishes values not often cherished on Earth, we have to be mindful of the values we hold in esteem whenever we want to venture into anything that is worthwhile!

Before you start anything, check whether your plan reflects any important values you would like your personality, business or brand to be associated with. Although most people’s or organizations’ values are tied with their goals and personal views or orientation about life, they can still work for them, and make a great difference in their activities.

People can come and go over the years, but your values should remain the same if they are good and highly valuable

Good values certainly have a strong spark of honesty and integrity rapped around them; so it is very important to get these qualities if you know you lack them; they can really make all the difference for you.

Everybody with a clear conscience surely knows what honesty and integrity both mean; these are qualities whose absence in any business can send the business straight to hell!

If you lack integrity, then it will be difficult to make people trust you

Your values will determine what you need to focus on much more than anything else. Every now and then, find out what is working, and what isn’t working, and weigh what needs to be reduced or discarded, and what needs to be increased.

This might sound easy to do, but it actually isn’t! In reality, it can be the most challenging thing to do—but at the end of the day, it will be worthwhile, and can bring your business high returns on investment (ROI).

When considering which values to select, always remember that is doesn’t always have to be about you; rather, it should be more about your friends, visitors, customers or followers.

Whenever things become too difficult, just let them be—but whenever you can, don’t let things remain undone

Anyone who studies the events in history and around the world, would likely agree that when important things are left undone, they can slowly and abruptly lead to chaos.

But actually, how many things do we have the ability to get done? Not too many! We are only human and very much incapable of stretching ourselves beyond certain limits.

For example, we cannot do much to prevent the disaster handed out to some nations by the natural actions of tsunamis and earthquakes; neither can we do much to prevent the catastrophic actions of floods.

On the other hand, there are far too many things we can get done compared to the fewer things we can’t do—and that’s where our actions are needed in order to prevent future disorder and chaos.

When certain things overpower you, just let them be, and handover your concern to the highest power—GOD, or Mother Nature

When people cannot control or prevent a tsunami or earthquake from causing disasters, what usually happens? They either run away, or just let things be! Whenever you reach a point where you have to let things be, nature will do what is does, regardless of whether we take the result or aftermath in good faith, or bad faith.

When we leave many things (that are beyond our control) in the hands of the higher power, they usually become irreversible, but still turn into something more purposeful in the hands of the higher power—this is something that human beings cannot see on a short term.

For example, when people, plants and animals die, and there are cries here and there, no one sees a greater purpose thousands of years later when the same dead human, animal and plant bodies decay and turn into fossil fuel that will be used by future inhabitants of the same Earth that experienced death.

The point here isn’t to discourage people from crying for their love ones who have passed; rather, it is to enlighten people and encourage them to look far beyond their own physical existence and concerns!

Human beings and all living things are usually subjected to stresses that are beyond their limits—stresses that can make them leave things undone!

Oftentimes people go to great lengths or extents just to avoid or get away from pressure and stresses; on the other hand, embracing challenges will help you grow and depend more on the higher power; it will help you get used to the higher power which values life beyond this world (and everlasting life) much more than it values this short earthly life.

On the journey of eternal life, you must accept pressure and the obvious fact that there will always be things beyond your power to do—that’s when the higher power completely takes over!

For many successful people, the more they see their success in sight, the more productivity they maintain until the D-day! However, if they carried away by pressure and challenges without viewing things from GOD’s angle, they might fail to see any eternal lessons that can be learned!

A popular twentieth century philosopher, Buckminster Fuller, once stated: “You will never be given a task that you cannot handle…Your reward in life for learning the lesson is a bigger lesson”—you learn the bigger lessons of our future eternal life by learning the smaller lessons of this present short earthly life!

The phrase, “no pain, no gain” has much greater significance in the spiritual or eternal aspect of life than it does in the physical world, but many people don’t seem to be aware of it!

What to do if you really want to do something—do it with your whole heart

One of the greatest sins that we can ever commit on the journey to success is “not doing something wholeheartedly”—not doing something enough—or, not doing something strong enough!

Many people lack some necessary zeal and vigor which are two useful servants of faith and unlimited potential or abilities: we don’t do what we know we’re supposed to do because we’re not sure we can accomplish it, even though it’s worthwhile.

At other times, we are not in a good mood and don’t have adequate amount of energy to do something well or wholeheartedly—and so we put it off, only to meet it another day and fight yet again!

Most times the heart doesn’t function with full force, or wholeheartedly. “Writer’s block” is a popular example of a restriction or mental pattern that causes people not to think and write wholeheartedly.

Writer’s block is an emotional or mental barrier that springs up in a writer’s mind, incapacitates them, and makes them unable to write what they truly love to write about.

Sometimes writer’s block can be so severe that a writer might have to visit a psychotherapist for help. Many writers have to overcome writer’s block before they can be able to make a living from writing.

If you don’t do something with your whole heart, you will likely become convinced that you can’t or won’t do many things well

By not doing something wholeheartedly, one might lose energy and motivation to do many things right away, even if they are generally easy to do.

Many people don’t actually need a psychotherapist; what they need is to understand how the mind works, especially when it loses motivation, or whenever there is any type of block.

The cure for procrastination or certain types of “blocks” is to go ahead and do what you want to do with your whole heart

The key to achieving something is to just to start doing it! The key to writing is to just start typing anything, even if will be the worst thing you will ever type—just start from somewhere!

In here book titled “Bird by Bird”, Novelist Anne Lamott stated: “Almost all good writings begin with terrible first efforts…you need to start somewhere. Start by getting something—anything—down on paper”.

By doing something wholeheartedly (with your whole heart), you will be able to disempower procrastination and pessimistic thoughts from taking control of your mind and thinking

If you are a writer, for example, the mere fact that you’ve taken action and started typing, is good enough to provide you with enough energy to achieve something valuable, no matter how slow you move.

Many people are incapable of summoning enough energy because they have become consciously or unconsciously afraid they won’t do things well. Whenever you are in the initial stages of doing something, use every little step or action to inspire yourself and move forward and upward ever, backward never.

In many ways, everybody is like a writer: “blocks” make us incapable of doing many things

It’s sad to see everybody with ideas, but only a few people getting their ideas worked upon and done; this is pitiful, especially when each person is really creative deep down within.

Everybody is very much capable of living a great life; however, many people are so afraid of ever doing anything to make it happen because they afraid they won’t be able to do things well.

Don’t be afraid. Once you believe you need to do something, just decide to put in all your best effort and start doing it with your whole heart—enjoy the motivation that would take over you when you start the process!

Great things are often created gradually, not overnight—the same applies to your self-development

Most people who get very high on an idea of what they would like to become, usually start out with a very desire, but fail to realize that changes in human habits and beliefs usually take time because our subconsciousness (subconscious mind)—the bearer and storekeeper of all knowledge, powers and abilities—isn’t naturally used to changing overnight.

The subconscious mind needs visualization, positivity, good suggestions, patience and persistent belief in order to give it enough faith power that can effect many changes in habits and belief systems that have been ingrained over a period of time.

Because many people are impatient and want a quick-fire solution, they easily give up and remain their old selves

If one wishes to undergo effective self-development and change their habits, they always have to remember that great success, habits, qualities and abilities are often created slowly.

Many people don’t usually see and appreciate the value in small changes

Small or gradual changes have a lot of value and importance which many people often overlook. Everything in life, especially food and many useful processes, are grown or processed gradually, but still end up becoming or producing great products, results and success.

Great things can be accomplished if we focus on one small action at a time

If you see yourself as a great masterpiece in progress, then you would instantly appreciate the small changes that occur in your journey of self-development.

Also, you would be contented with improving gradually rather than giving room for negativity due to impatience and feeling that everything important can be done overnight.

Any little thing you do, and each effort you put in today will excite and motivate you, and give you the strength you need to progress on the long run and achieve your dreams.

10 motivating insights that can bring out the best from past & present experiences

(Image credit: Pixabay.com.) No matter the type of experiences we’ve had in the past, or present, we can use them to our advantage and raise our abilities, intelligence, and competence, amongst other qualities.

If we expect to sail smoothly on the waterways of our never-ending life journey of personal development, and make it interesting, exciting, adventurous, and filled with positivity and success, there are some important things that we should always be mindful of, and consider every now and then in order to keep our development in appropriate check, viz.:

(1) If we don’t learn from past mistakes and apply them wisely in the future, we will still get older, but not any wiser

Generally, people assume that the older everyone gets, the wiser they become; but this is not always true because many people just continue to be foolish and make many mistakes that should have been avoided if they had actually learnt lessons from past mistakes.

Sometimes after we take steps, we observe that we’ve made mistakes—especially completely new and different ones. If we can learn from each mistake, old or new, it will be difficult for us to repeat them, or other related mistakes in the future.

The older we get, the more new areas of life become exposed to us, and the more likely we will be prone to make errors or mistakes. The thing is this: we should become wiser after learning from mistakes, not the other way round—which is foolish.

(2) Sometimes people make serious mistakes which might not be deliberate. Sometimes, when we think people know what they are doing, it could be that they just don’t know what they are doing at all

In some instances (probably many), whenever people behave badly towards us, it might be due to their naivety or foolishness, rather than any deliberate act of theirs.

At times people make mistakes in the way they bring others up, or end a relationship, not because they intended to do it that way, but because they didn’t know any other way to do it better.

(3) Whatever has happened, has happened! We can’t go back and change anything. We should learn to work with where we are, and what we have

We have to accept things that have happened, and build on that. It wouldn’t do us any good to go back to the past and beat ourselves up—and the truth is that we can still change many things, but change will come gradually, and a bit later.

In the journey of life, nobody is perfect; if anyone is perfect, that person wouldn’t have come to Earth. Usually, we are always allowed to start where we are, with what we have, and make a choice each day to become better.

On the other hand, no matter how much we fight, do our best, and try to do the right thing, there will be certain days when we might not succeed.

No matter what happens, the motto should always be to keep moving forward and upward ever; backward never.

(4) There are some things in life that are very important, and a bunch of other things that are not so important. It won’t be so difficult to know which ones fall into either category

There are a bunch of things that don’t count, and are not worth the time to concentrate on. I don’t mean that we cannot have trivial things in our lives; we can, but we should discard trivial things if they attract negativity, anxiety and confusion.

Paying money back to people you owe, is important. On the other hand, bothering about whether to wear an armband to go and pay the money, or not, is not so important. Teaching children valuable life lessons is important, but dressing them in expensive clothes is not that important.

(5) It is very important to dedicate our lives to something good. However, dedicating the self is a very personal choice. It is important to know precisely what we are dedicating our lives to, instead of not knowing at all

Whatever it is that we really want to dedicate our lives to, we shouldn’t cause harm to other people in any way: we should try to live as decently as possible. In this regard, there are quite a number of things we can choose to dedicate our lives to—and we know what they are.

(6) If we expect to get the most out of life, we have to keep all avenues or options open: we need to be flexible in the way we react to, or approach life

We need to be ready to roll with whatever weather or storm that shows up, especially when we least expect. It can be easily observed that people with rigid beliefs and few options usually lose battles when new challenges or situations arise.

The thing is this: if we stick to an established pattern without thinking about other ideas on how we could possibly  adjust to new circumstances, we might be setting ourselves up for long-term failure when the unexpected tides of life show up.

We should always try to see life as a friend that we can get closer to and roll along with, rather than an enemy that we should run away from.

(7) We should learn to be always thankful, even when we face the uphill struggles of life

Although we have no other better option than to battle with all the ups and downs of life, we have to keep moving forward ever and backward never.

If we don’t do so, we will be swept away easily, and probably off course. Each battle, each struggle and challenge we face, should be approached with the attitude that we will become more stronger, more fitter, and more prepared to face the uncertainties of tomorrow.

(8) We have to muster all our strength and be the very best at anything we do. Don’t relax; don’t aim to be the next/second best

This point seems to impose a great responsibility on us. It really sounds difficult to be (or become) the best, but it’s possible.

Probably, we should take the middle way: whatever we are doing, we should try to put our best into it, and do as much as is humanly possible for us to do.

(9) We should look at the past and learn from it, but never concentrate on it. There is nothing we can do to change the past; we have to turn our attention to the present, and have high hopes in the future

Truly, it’s quite difficult to resist the temptation of looking and dwelling on the past. However, if we want to succeed in life, we have to turn our attention to today, now, and a hopeful tomorrow.

(10) Whenever it is necessary, ask questions. It is true that we might not like the answers we often get, but at least we will become more knowledgeable and wiser

Many views and comments in the world are based on assumptions. The truth is that, most times, when people are assuming, they think that they know something when in reality they don’t know anything.

Asking a few questions here and there, would help to clear up any assumptions that could mislead us on the long run. Whenever people make assumptions which are later confirmed to be wrong, things might have already gotten worse.

We assume that other people know our plan, or that they like what we are doing, but in reality they don’t. It’s better to ask questions right from the start, and have precise information. In fact, asking questions helps clarify many situations.

Real life story on how hardship & challenges can help you travel deep down inside and find your true potential

It is quite common for people to leave things undone when they are supposed to do them and elevate themselves to a higher position. Many people who leave things undone, also don’t listen to good advice and recommendations from other people.

Generally, most of us procrastinate and forfeit the internal journey to our true potential. We must all travel that internal path which will certainly lead us to discover of our true potential—if only we are serious about it.

Your true potential is your real and eternal identity that’s waiting to be motivated enough to come alive

The journey to self-discovery or true potential is one that every man and woman must take alone—by themselves—and in combination with the harmony between them and the universe which is their eternal home.

Some people who fail to find their true potential, consider themselves a failure at life’s calling because they’ve been unable to find their true potential.

The inspiring real-life story of Anthony Burgess: how hardship and challenges can actually help you find our true potential

Anthony Burgess (an English writer and composer) had found out that brain tumor would kill him in about a year’s time after he got the information.

It was a serious issue, and he knew that he had a major hardship and challenge on his shoulder like many people around the world usually do; but good enough, it wasn’t able to deter him from finding his true potential.

At the time, he was completely broke and didn’t have anything substantial to leave behind for his wife (Lynne) whom people assumed would soon become a widow.

Although Anthony Burgess had never been a practicing composer or novelist, he always had faith that he would write great works, even when it was claimed he would soon die

Faced by hardship, a great challenge, death, and a desire to leave behind money and royalties for his wife, Anthony Burgess began writing like many people do today.

Around 1960, he put a paper into a typewriter and began typing/writing; and although he wasn’t certain his work would be published, he couldn’t think about doing anything better with his life before dying.

According to his own words “It was January 1960, and according to prognosis (prediction of the course of the disease), I had a winter and spring and summer to live through, and would die with the fall of the leaf”.

Surprisingly, around that time Anthony Burgess wrote energetically like someone who had found their true potential; he ended up finishing five and a half novels before the year was over.

The amount of work produced by Anthony Burgess is nearly equal to the lifetime work of E. M. Forster, and almost twice the amount of work produced by J. D. Salinger.

Contrary to medical prognosis and wide-spread belief, Anthony Burgess didn’t die

While in the process of writing what many people would consider “the last writing of his life”, Anthony Burgess’ cancer had abated and vanished completely.

He ended up writing more than 70 books during his lifetime; however, without the death sentence from medical prognosis, he might not have had any hardship or challenge that would compel him to find his true potential.

Many people in the present-day are like Anthony Burgess—we need hardship and challenges to make us sit up and wear the crown of true potential

Greatness is silently sleeping within many people who actually need or deserve to be handed tough situations and a state of emergency that can awaken their true potential from slumber.

If we don’t learn to take advantage of the positives in hardship and challenges, and see how crisis can inspire people’s best efforts and make them much better, then we will tend to create a life based on comfort, and not be challenged by anything.

For those of you who have already located your true potential, don’t wait for something tragic or challenging to come your way before you get going with your true potential. Use your true potential to challenge yourself from within.

How faith comes, grows, and increasingly becomes stronger!

Although many people lose the powerful feeling or strong impact of positive words and thoughts long after they have been read or thought about, it doesn’t mean that continuous hearing or reading of positive words doesn’t have a long-lasting impact—it certainly does!

The history of events surrounding Jesus Christ and his disciples shows that “faith comes by hearing…hearing by the word of GOD”—Romans 10:17 (The Christian Bible).

Faith doesn’t always come as a complete or instant package, especially if one is new to faith. Faith comes, accumulates or increases by hearing. This is true, if not, Jesus’ disciples would have been able to cast out the demons that possessed a boy about 2,000 years ago.

But they were unable to—much to Jesus’ dismay—even though they had lived with Jesus, heard many positive messages he uttered about GOD’s greatness, and seen many great signs and wonders that he did over and over, again and again.

The truth of the matter is that the faith of Jesus’ disciples had not yet come, grown, or become strong enough to do what their master did on a regular basis.

Funny enough, a centurion who never interacted much with Jesus prior to the time they met, shocked Jesus with his faith even though he never had the opportunity to hear Jesus’ positive words, or seen the great wonders Jesus effected in real life—read Matthew 8:5–13 (the Christian Bible).

The faith that achieves great success is not a respecter of persons

Without a sufficient amount of faith in yourself, it would be difficult to achieve great feats in life; it would be even more difficult to please GOD, the owner and master of the universe!

“But without faith, it is impossible to please GOD…”—Hebrews 11:6 (The Christian Bible)

If GOD demands that we have faith, regardless of how difficult or impossible it is for us to generate faith, then the responsibility rests on us to do the needful in order to get faith!

And the needful thing is to continue to believe and be positive in the midst of challenges: we have to continue hearing, meditating, and believing in positivity or positive thoughts.

Contrary to the belief system in some religions, the word of GOD does not refer only to the scriptures—or specifically The Christian Bible. If good, inspiring and uplifting words or thoughts have their basis and foundation in GOD, they can also be referred to, or regarded as the word of GOD!

In reality, the word or GOD consists much more of thoughts than literal words; and the thoughts consists of the power of GOD which is only positive and uplifting! The written word of GOD is the power of GOD in written form—in human writing; this depends on the type of language used.

Faith comes by hearing—also, faith will continue to grow stronger by continuously hearing or reading positive things

Generally, GOD’s words have informed us that without faith it is impossible to do great works, and please Him.

But, good enough, he has told us how to get faith—by hearing and continuously believing. So if we don’t have or develop faith, especially in the midst of challenges, then GOD is not to be blamed.

It would be wrong to blame GOD for our lack of faith; this is also true about salvation which is outside the scope of this article. You cannot acquire certain levels of faith without continuously hearing meditating on the word of GOD or positivity—positive words or thoughts.

How does faith for healing come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning healing.

How does faith for miracles come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning miracles.

How does faith for the prophecy come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning prophecy.

How does faith for wealth come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning wealth.

How does faith for general success come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning general success!

How keyword optimization made my article attract the highest number of views & rank almost 1.0 on Google—6 screenshots & a practical example

It is widely believed that gaining experience is the best way to learn and become more certain or confident in many areas of life. My experience in testing and applying keyword search optimization on a few articles has been paying off—but I know this is just the beginning! Screenshots of stats from my website’s dashboard, and Google search console reports proven that keyword search optimization (or “keyword optimization SEO”) will always attract views from other search engine; in addition, Google search console performance reports have shown that my site has an average position on 1.4 (almost 1.0) on Google whenever searches/queries are made with the long-tail keyword: “Types of technical drawing”. It is widely believed that gaining experience (or trying out things) is the best way to learn and become more certain or confident in many areas of life. My experience in testing and applying keyword search optimization on a few articles has been paying off—but I know this is just the beginning!

Since I started publishing content on the internet 7 years ago, I’ve never really liked the idea of concentrating on keywords or applying keyword search optimization, most especially because of the extra effort it requires and the rules that have to be followed in order to properly incorporate it when producing content.

On the other hand, stats from my website’s dashboard, and Google search console performance reports have proven that keyword search optimization (or “keyword optimization SEO”) will always help articles attract views from other search engines, even if followers from a hosted platform (for e.g., Weebly, Blogger, WordPress.com, etc,) are not attracted to the article enough to make them “comment” or “like” the articles.

One major lesson I’ve learnt is that even if nobody is attracted enough to “comment on” or “like” an article that is first published within a hosted platform (like Blogger or WordPress.com) where most site owners or bloggers get/have their respective followers, the article can still receive the highest number of views from all types of search engines, especially Google. (But keyword search optimization will be needed to get there.)

This has “almost” been the case with one of my articles titled Definition & types of technical drawing. The article has roughly one-third the number of likes and comments that My reception of “the versatile blogger award” has; yet still, the former has been viewed 400+ times more than the latter.

In fact, as at the time of writing, My reception of “the versatile blogger award” was on the 1st position in terms of total number of likes from WordPress.com-based readers, while Definition & types of technical drawing was on the 71st position. We can all agree that results would have been very different if readers from outside WordPress.com—such as Google, Bing, Yahoo Search, Facebook, etc.—decided, or were easily allowed to like/comment on WordPress.com-based posts.

In order to express these realities more, we will look at screenshots, stats and analysis of a one of my article’s views on my site’s WordPress.com-hosted dashboard, and Google search console performance reports, respectively. In addition, we will briefly discuss 2 other articles that respond to searches/queries and attract views from Google.

Before we move forward, truth be told: over time, keyword optimization can help your articles attract the highest number of views as possible from all search engines, especially the most powerful one: Google. The right application of keyword search optimization can bring your website a lot of exposure, visitors, customers, conversions, and even money.

Generally, we will discuss the following:

  • Definition of keyword search optimization.
  • Importance/advantages of using keyword search optimization.
  • Screenshots, stats and analysis of my highest viewed keyword-search-optimized article titled: “Definition & types of technical drawing”.
  • Practical example: where and how to place keywords.
  • Conclusion.

Definition of keyword search optimization

Keyword optimization can be defined as the process of conducting keyword research in order to analyze and select the best keywords that would be able to target and drive qualified traffic from search engines to a website and its article(s).

Why do most websites and blogs take keyword search optimization as a “do-or-die” thing? Because the proper use of keywords can actually make a difference for websites and blogs.

It has to be noted that keyword search optimization is very important in the initial stages of planning for content production and search engine marketing campaigns.

Importance/advantages of using keyword search optimization

When it comes to search engine marketing, keyword research and optimization is very important because it offers high and valuable returns. As a content writer or blogger, searching for/using popular keywords (both short-tail and long-tail) will really help to produce trendy content that can attract organic traffic.

Keyword search optimization can actually help your content reach and attract potential customers if you have an idea of the words/keywords that are mostly typed during queries/searches. And to do that, you can use a keyword optimization tool website in a way that will be explained further below.

The undeniable fact is that, on search engines, most websites are ranked for quality in combination with an appropriate use of certain keywords. The use of keyword search optimization has the following advantages:

  • It attracts an engaged audience: the type of audience you are looking for.
  • It leads to increased conversion in terms of views and sales: it helps relevant content not only to attract visitors, but also to convert them to customers and sources of cash or revenue generation.
  • It gives content creators and bloggers insight into current internet marketing trends. By consistently analyzing keywords, it becomes easy to always understand internet users’ and consumers’ behavior, and what potential customers are mostly searching for.
  • It helps to prioritize time properly and not waste it on creating content that uses inefficient keywords which can’t attract as much traffic as other more efficient ones can. Using the right keywords can greatly increase a site’s return on investment (ROI) in terms of views and exposure.
  • etc.

Screenshots, stats and analysis of my keyword-search-optimized article titled: “Definition & types of technical drawing”

Although the article Definition & types of technical drawing doesn’t have/hasn’t had anything close to the highest number of likes and comments on my site since it was published some time ago (February 15, 2019), it currently attracts between 30 and 50+ views per day, even when I don’t publish. Initially, it started from a few views per day, but was/has been increasing every day until its now around 50+ views per day.

Most of the views come from Google; you can see the stats for only one day on “Screenshot 1” below.

Screenshot 1_average between 30 and 60 Google views per day
Screenshot 1: the article’s average Google views per day

As you can see, the stats on the image show that my website attracted a total of 167 views on August 16, 2019. And even though I didn’t publish a new article on that day, my website was referred 63 times from Google, while the article itself attracted 55 views, and my Google search console performance clicks and impressions for days and weeks also confirm that most of the article’s views always come from Google, rather than from WordPress.com.

The good thing is that the longer an informative and keyword search optimized article stays on the internet, the more it tends to increasingly attract search engines, and the more it will be found, especially if content quality and keyword search optimization are properly incorporated into content during the writing stage, and prior to publishing.

As you can see on “Screenshot 2”, as at the time of writing, my site has been referred 963 times from Google, 156 times from Bing, and 20,156 times from WordPress.com’s reader in 2019; while the article itself has received 1,352 views from all search engines (including Google). Generally, as at the time of writing, my site has 110 articles, and has been viewed about 42,300+ times.

In addition, daily stats and observations from Google search console performance reports have proven that the article (even though comparably less popular on WordPress.com), has been viewed about 900+ times or more from Google; and this can be linked to keyword search optimization.

Screenshot 2_No. of views 2019

Screenshot 2: article’s total number of views

I also applied keyword search optimization to 2 other articles which have also been doing quite well on Google as you can see on “Screenshot 2” (above) and “Screenshot 3” (below) of my site’s stats dashboard and Google users’ queries/searches such as “why study environmental science” and “why do we need to study environmental science” (both are related to my article titled: 15 Reasons why you should study environmental science), and “christian freelance writing jobs” (related to my article titled: Christian freelance writing jobs: 19 websites that pay for submissions).

Screenshot 3_keyword query
Screenshot 3: performance and Google search console report on Google users’ queries for related articles

Generally, as you can see on “Screenshot 2”, no other article has attracted more views than the article under discussion; in addition, “Screenshot 3” informs us that no other article on this site has attracted more clicks and impressions on Google than Definition & types of technical drawing; it’s just way too far ahead of the rest.

In fact, the stats (August 17, 2019) on “Screenshot 4” shows that the article has an average position on 1.4 (almost 1.0) on Google whenever searches/queries are made using the long-tail keyword: “Types of technical drawing”.

Screenshot 4_Average position on Google
Screenshot 4: average position of article whenever a specific query/search is made by users on Google

As defined by Google, the average position, which is based on searches from every part of the world, is the average position of a website in search results whenever a specific search/query (for e.g., “types of technical drawing”) is made during searches by internet users.

One important thing to always remember is that proper use and placement of keywords can make it extremely possible for content to be easily seen and accessed through all types of search engine; be it Google, Bing, WordPress.com, etc.

The performance/stats of quality and keyword optimized articles on Google can be very inspiring and provide more insight to people who are interested in knowing the benefits of keyword search optimization.

A little bit later, we will view a brief practical example on how a combination of a keyword optimization tool website, and keyword search optimization (or, keyword optimization SEO) can be applied during writing process, and before publishing articles. The great results of such a combination usually show up long after keyword optimized articles have been published.

Practical example: where and how to place keywords

In order to explain where and how keywords should be best placed, we will use one of my most recently published articles as an example; it’s titled: Why WordPress.com is the best platform to build your website—comparison with WordPress.org.

Take a look at “Screenshots 5″ and “Screenshot 6” below:

Screenshot 5_keyword search optimization
Screenshot 5: search result showing the first 7 keywords

Screenshot 6_search result showing the 8th to 23rd keywords
Screenshot 6: search result showing the 8th to 23rd keywords

Now, assume you are the person producing/writing the article, and follow the instructions below:

  • Think and concentrate on the exact type of article you want to write about, and write the main keyword and title down. You might not get the exact title you want at the beginning, but first, just write something important down, especially the keyword. The title should have an important specific word (or keywords). In this example, I am affiliate marketer who wants to genuinely encourage people to sign up with WordPress.com because of the obvious benefits/advantages, and stats; so I’ve decided to write a detailed and convincing article explaining why WordPress.com is better than WordPress.org. The thing to note is that WordPress.com is the main keyword here; so go to the next step: search for other “related” keywords associated with WordPress.com searches/queries by search engine users. Generally, the aim is to create an article that will provide a higher number of people with quality information when they type various related long-tail keywords on internet, or search engines.
  • Type “WordPress.com” in the search box and wait a moment for results to unfold.
  • In “Screenshot 5”, you will notice 7 keywords arranged in decreasing order of search volume stats (which are hidden by the website) from top to bottom. It is not so important to know what the actual search volume stats are; rather, the most important information to take away from the search is that globally, the first keyword (WordPress.com themes), is the most searched keyword (or “long-tail keyword”), while “WordPress.com pricing” is the second most searched keyword; and the list goes on.
  • If you think the first set of keywords are not too relevant to the content you want to produce, then do a better or broader job by going beyond the first 7 (or even first 10) keywords. Look at more keywords by going further below; so take a look at “Screenshot 6” where you can see the 8th placed keyword, up to the 23rd placed one: “WordPress.com themes”, “WordPress.com dashboard”, etc.
  • Out of the first 5, 10, or 20 most searched keywords, select just a few that you know will be relevant to the content you want to produce for people to find, or read/view. The more keywords you select and use, the more easier it will be for many people to find your articles via search engines. One of the keywords that would likely benefit a WordPress.com affiliate the most is the third most searched keyword which is “WordPress.com vs WordPress.org”. And that’s what this article is centered on, with an edge that explains the benefits of using WordPress.com, and why people should sign up.
  • Use the keywords in your content as subtitles and make them bold and a bit larger so that even scanners (people who hurriedly scan content) can still be attracted to one or two subtitles which can draw their attention in, and finally make them read the whole article.
  • Finally, write a relevant and information-rich article, and ensure that the main keywords are in each (or at least some) of the sub-titles or sub-headings.
  • Alternatively, you could write different articles, with each article concentrating only on one keyword—one article for one keyword. But if you choose this option, you will have to write several articles in order to cover many keywords.

Note:

  • In order to get the best results, use bold subtitles and make sure keywords are placed in some of them, if not all.
  • Make sure articles are informative, clearly expressed, and contain good grammar and punctuation (depending on the language used).
  • Place sufficient white space in your content because most people find it difficult to continuously read or concentrate on content that leaves no breathing space or pauses for the flow of their trending thoughts.
  • Be patient because, even after getting verified on Google search console, it usually takes Google time to index a site; say from somewhere between a few days, and some weeks.

Conclusion

If you use a keyword optimization tool website, and follow the above instructions, it will be easy to carry out keyword search & analysis, structure your internet marketing agenda, and continuously attract the broadest base of any type of audience.

Note first that it’s important to verify your site on Google search console in order to gain access to insightful stats that can sharpen your keyword search optimization strategy. You can do verification through your site’s WordPress.com dashboard, or here.

Because of the extra effort involved in applying keyword search optimization, most site owners, marketers and bloggers don’t find time to optimize keywords in their content.

This is not always good because the absence of keywords and keyword search optimization can negatively impact a site’s search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC) status/results, respectively. If you don’t choose and use the types of keywords that are often sought after, it might be a bit difficult for your content to be found on the wider internet base. That means lesser, little or no traffic; and lesser, little or no views, sales and money as well—especially if, in addition to the absence of keywords, you don’t have a solid base on social media platforms.

By consistently applying keyword search optimization, and expanding your website’s database of keywords, your site traffic, views, leads and sales will always continue to grow at an optimal level.

Past events that disproved the impossible: one person’s impossibility is another person’s possibility

In many areas of life, the study of things that were deemed “impossible”, actually opened up completely unexpected domains in many human endeavors—especially science and technology.

Many events in recorded history have proven that what one person thought was “impossible”, was often regarded by another person as a “possibility”—actually, one person’s food is another person’s poison.

Past events that illustrate how people who studied the impossible, changed the course of the world

It is sad to note that there were times in the past when certain reputable media outlets, professional bodies and scientists lacked positivity and belief, and declared that a number of scientific and technological ideas were hopelessly impossible:

The New York Times

During the 1920s and 1930s, Robert Goddard, who has been regarded as the founder of modern design & operation, was severely criticized by people who believed that rockets would never travel in space—in fact, they disdainfully called his pursuit “Goddard’s Folly”.

An unforgettable incident occurred in 1921 when the then editors of “The New York Times” made a disgraceful statement against Dr. Goddard’s work: “Professor Goddard does not know the relation between action and reaction and the need to have something better than a vacuum against which to react. He seems to lack the basic knowledge ladled out daily in high schools”.

The editors believed it would be impossible to send rockets into space because there would be no air in space for rockets to push against.

Unfortunately for the unbelieving editors, there statements have been found to be misguided and worthless for over several decades after their unfair criticism and utterances.

Nineteenth century chemists

Chemists of the nineteenth century popularly declared that it would be impossible to find a substance—popularly known as “the philosopher’s stone”—that could turn lead into gold.

Back then, 19th century chemistry was based on the fundamental immutability of elements such as lead; fast forward to this generation and see the big difference because lead atoms can now be turned into gold.

Lord Kelvin

Lord Kelvin, who is widely regarded as a prominent physicist, declared that “heavier-than-air” devices such as aircraft, would not be able to fly; also, he assumed that X-rays were deceptive, a hoax, and that the idea of the “radio” would be fruitless and without a future.

It’s surprising to witness how much time has passed by, and yet all the things Kelvin thought were impossible, have become possible, and continue to remain so till date.

At the end of the nineteenth century, most scientists thought it was impossible for the Earth to be up to a billion years old. Lord Kelvin widely declared that molten Earth would take between 20 to 40 million years to cool down; his statement contradicted that of geologists/Darwinian biologists who claimed that the Earth could be up to a billion years old.

Finally, the impossible was proven to be possible after the discovery of nuclear force by Madame Curie and other scientists showed that if the center of the Earth is heated via radioactive decay, it could be kept in a molten state for billions of years—which the Earth’s age actually is.

Albert Einstein

Initially, in the 1930s, Albert Einstein believed it would be impossible to make an atomic bomb.

Atomic physicists had already known that there was an appreciable quantity of energy located deep within nuclei—in accordance with Einstein’s equation, E = mc2; however, they wrongly assumed that the energy in each nucleus was too insignificant to use in making an atomic bomb.

On the other hand, atomic physicist Leo Szilard remembered H. G. Wells prediction in a 1914 novel titled “The World Set Free”, in which Wells predicted the development of the atomic bomb.

According to the book, Wells believed that the secret behind the atomic bomb would be discovered by a physicist in 1933.

Fortunately for Szilard, after he came across Well’s book in 1932, it inspired him to develop an idea in 1933 by magnifying the power of a single atom through a chain reaction, so that the energy generated from splitting a single uranium nucleus could be magnified trillions of times, and employed in making the atomic bomb.

Szilard conducted more experiments and held secret negotiations with Einstein and then American President Franklin Roosevelt; this led to “The Manhattan Project” which was used to build the atomic bomb.

“Black holes” were once regarded as “science fiction”. In fact, Einstein wrote a paper in 1939 which “proved” that it would be impossible for black holes to be formed.

Yet, in the present-day, the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray telescope have proven the existence of thousands of black holes in outer space.

Stephen Hawking

The great cosmologist Stephen Hawking tried to discover a new law of physics that would prove that time travel is impossible—he called his idea “chronology protection conjecture”.

Unfortunately, after many years of research, he was unable to disprove time travel. In fact, contrary to his idea, physicists have demonstrated that a law which would prevent time travel is beyond present-day reality.

And because there is no law that can prevent the existence of time machines, physicists see the possibility to create time machines and do time travel in the near future.

Observation

Each person has the power to believe in all types of possibilities and not be affected by the negative beliefs and influences of faithless reputable media outlets, professional bodies, people, and even great scientists.

Conclusion

Knowledge is power: the reason why certain technologies were deemed impossible was due to the obvious fact that some basic laws of natural science were unknown; this created huge gaps in the understanding of science back in the day—no wonder many scientific and technological ideas were considered impossible.

Throughout history, time and time again, people who studied things that were deemed “impossible”, stretched and broadened the boundaries of science and life, and inspired other scientists to believe that anything is “possible”.

The ideas and technologies that are regarded as “impossible” in the present-day, will become possible in a few years, decades, or centuries into the future.

The feeling of blogging to 1st position on Google in 28 countries

Once again, the purpose of such an article is only to provide inspiration. The journey of a blogger or site owner can be hard, arduous and discouraging without having any idea or evidence of long-term benefits.

All of us need a bit of motivation here and there along the way—hence the aim of the post: to inspire! If we do not keep on trying, we might not know how easy it is to cut or bypass the hidden barriers!

Many musicians’ songs are topping charts in several countries across the globe. I’m not a musician, but for several weeks one of my articles has been topping Google’s number one spot in 28 countries whenever this popular keyword is typed: “types of technical drawing”.

This comes as a surprise, especially when the concerned article (Definition & types of technical drawing), which was published in February 2019, gradually and increasingly attracted views until this month (September) when it attracted far more views (especially via Google) than it ever did between February 2019 and the last day of last month (August 2019).

I wrote about the article’s stats which can be read via the following links:

When these two articles were published, the average position of the concerned article was 1.4 and 1.3 respectively. At the time of publishing (today), the most recent average position of the article was 1.1, although the Google Search Console report of my website, which was last updated about 9 hours prior, recorded 1.2 as the average position.
