10 motivating insights that can bring out the best from past & present experiences

(Image credit: Pixabay.com.) No matter the type of experiences we’ve had in the past, or present, we can use them to our advantage and raise our abilities, intelligence, and competence, amongst other qualities.

If we expect to sail smoothly on the waterways of our never-ending life journey of personal development, and make it interesting, exciting, adventurous, and filled with positivity and success, there are some important things that we should always be mindful of, and consider every now and then in order to keep our development in appropriate check, viz.:

(1) If we don’t learn from past mistakes and apply them wisely in the future, we will still get older, but not any wiser

Generally, people assume that the older everyone gets, the wiser they become; but this is not always true because many people just continue to be foolish and make many mistakes that should have been avoided if they had actually learnt lessons from past mistakes.

Sometimes after we take steps, we observe that we’ve made mistakes—especially completely new and different ones. If we can learn from each mistake, old or new, it will be difficult for us to repeat them, or other related mistakes in the future.

The older we get, the more new areas of life become exposed to us, and the more likely we will be prone to make errors or mistakes. The thing is this: we should become wiser after learning from mistakes, not the other way round—which is foolish.

(2) Sometimes people make serious mistakes which might not be deliberate. Sometimes, when we think people know what they are doing, it could be that they just don’t know what they are doing at all

In some instances (probably many), whenever people behave badly towards us, it might be due to their naivety or foolishness, rather than any deliberate act of theirs.

At times people make mistakes in the way they bring others up, or end a relationship, not because they intended to do it that way, but because they didn’t know any other way to do it better.

(3) Whatever has happened, has happened! We can’t go back and change anything. We should learn to work with where we are, and what we have

We have to accept things that have happened, and build on that. It wouldn’t do us any good to go back to the past and beat ourselves up—and the truth is that we can still change many things, but change will come gradually, and a bit later.

In the journey of life, nobody is perfect; if anyone is perfect, that person wouldn’t have come to Earth. Usually, we are always allowed to start where we are, with what we have, and make a choice each day to become better.

On the other hand, no matter how much we fight, do our best, and try to do the right thing, there will be certain days when we might not succeed.

No matter what happens, the motto should always be to keep moving forward and upward ever; backward never.

(4) There are some things in life that are very important, and a bunch of other things that are not so important. It won’t be so difficult to know which ones fall into either category

There are a bunch of things that don’t count, and are not worth the time to concentrate on. I don’t mean that we cannot have trivial things in our lives; we can, but we should discard trivial things if they attract negativity, anxiety and confusion.

Paying money back to people you owe, is important. On the other hand, bothering about whether to wear an armband to go and pay the money, or not, is not so important. Teaching children valuable life lessons is important, but dressing them in expensive clothes is not that important.

(5) It is very important to dedicate our lives to something good. However, dedicating the self is a very personal choice. It is important to know precisely what we are dedicating our lives to, instead of not knowing at all

Whatever it is that we really want to dedicate our lives to, we shouldn’t cause harm to other people in any way: we should try to live as decently as possible. In this regard, there are quite a number of things we can choose to dedicate our lives to—and we know what they are.

(6) If we expect to get the most out of life, we have to keep all avenues or options open: we need to be flexible in the way we react to, or approach life

We need to be ready to roll with whatever weather or storm that shows up, especially when we least expect. It can be easily observed that people with rigid beliefs and few options usually lose battles when new challenges or situations arise.

The thing is this: if we stick to an established pattern without thinking about other ideas on how we could possibly  adjust to new circumstances, we might be setting ourselves up for long-term failure when the unexpected tides of life show up.

We should always try to see life as a friend that we can get closer to and roll along with, rather than an enemy that we should run away from.

(7) We should learn to be always thankful, even when we face the uphill struggles of life

Although we have no other better option than to battle with all the ups and downs of life, we have to keep moving forward ever and backward never.

If we don’t do so, we will be swept away easily, and probably off course. Each battle, each struggle and challenge we face, should be approached with the attitude that we will become more stronger, more fitter, and more prepared to face the uncertainties of tomorrow.

(8) We have to muster all our strength and be the very best at anything we do. Don’t relax; don’t aim to be the next/second best

This point seems to impose a great responsibility on us. It really sounds difficult to be (or become) the best, but it’s possible.

Probably, we should take the middle way: whatever we are doing, we should try to put our best into it, and do as much as is humanly possible for us to do.

(9) We should look at the past and learn from it, but never concentrate on it. There is nothing we can do to change the past; we have to turn our attention to the present, and have high hopes in the future

Truly, it’s quite difficult to resist the temptation of looking and dwelling on the past. However, if we want to succeed in life, we have to turn our attention to today, now, and a hopeful tomorrow.

(10) Whenever it is necessary, ask questions. It is true that we might not like the answers we often get, but at least we will become more knowledgeable and wiser

Many views and comments in the world are based on assumptions. The truth is that, most times, when people are assuming, they think that they know something when in reality they don’t know anything.

Asking a few questions here and there, would help to clear up any assumptions that could mislead us on the long run. Whenever people make assumptions which are later confirmed to be wrong, things might have already gotten worse.

We assume that other people know our plan, or that they like what we are doing, but in reality they don’t. It’s better to ask questions right from the start, and have precise information. In fact, asking questions helps clarify many situations.

It is quite common for people to leave things undone when they are supposed to do them and elevate themselves to a higher position. Many people who leave things undone, also don’t listen to good advice and recommendations from other people.

Generally, most of us procrastinate and forfeit the internal journey to our true potential. We must all travel that internal path which will certainly lead us to discover of our true potential—if only we are serious about it.

The inspiring real-life story of Anthony Burgess: how hardship and challenges can actually help you find our true potential

Anthony Burgess (an English writer and composer) had found out that brain tumor would kill him in about a year’s time after he got the information.

It was a serious issue, and he knew that he had a major hardship and challenge on his shoulder like many people around the world usually do; but good enough, it wasn’t able to deter him from finding his true potential.

At the time, he was completely broke and didn’t have anything substantial to leave behind for his wife (Lynne) whom people assumed would soon become a widow.

Although Anthony Burgess had never been a practicing composer or novelist, he always had faith that he would write great works, even when it was claimed he would soon die

Faced by hardship, a great challenge, death, and a desire to leave behind money and royalties for his wife, Anthony Burgess began writing like many people do today.

Around 1960, he put a paper into a typewriter and began typing/writing; and although he wasn’t certain his work would be published, he couldn’t think about doing anything better with his life before dying.

According to his own words “It was January 1960, and according to prognosis (prediction of the course of the disease), I had a winter and spring and summer to live through, and would die with the fall of the leaf”.

Surprisingly, around that time Anthony Burgess wrote energetically like someone who had found their true potential; he ended up finishing five and a half novels before the year was over.

The amount of work produced by Anthony Burgess is nearly equal to the lifetime work of E. M. Forster, and almost twice the amount of work produced by J. D. Salinger.

Contrary to medical prognosis and wide-spread belief, Anthony Burgess didn’t die

While in the process of writing what many people would consider “the last writing of his life”, Anthony Burgess’ cancer had abated and vanished completely.

He ended up writing more than 70 books during his lifetime; however, without the death sentence from medical prognosis, he might not have had any hardship or challenge that would compel him to find his true potential.

Many people in the present-day are like Anthony Burgess—we need hardship and challenges to make us sit up and wear the crown of true potential

Greatness is silently sleeping within many people who actually need or deserve to be handed tough situations and a state of emergency that can awaken their true potential from slumber.

The reality of global warming: scary facts, and possible future consequences

(Image credit: Pixabay.com.) Present environmental threats caused by heating the Earth beyond the extent that nature’s sun does—and possible future consequences.

It’s very likely that most people would feel uncomfortable if too much heat-emitting activities (such as cooking, use of electrical appliances, etc.) occur in their houses; in addition, most people would feel “very very” uncomfortable if there are no escape routes for heat generated from too many activities that produce heat, and make their houses difficult to stay in.

If the statements in the previous paragraph are true, then imagine how much more uncomfortable all living things on Earth would feel as a result of negative impacts man-made (artificial) activities on the environment—especially when generated heat is trapped within Earth’s atmosphere.

Man-made activities, such as breeding/raising livestock, and burning of fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, and oil to power industries, vehicles, and appliances in homes) usually release high quantities of carbon dioxide, methane, etc., into the atmosphere.

These gases, along with nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), amongst others, are greenhouse gases, and contribute to “the greenhouse effect”.

The higher the concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere, the more heat will be trapped within the Earth’s environment.

High quantities of trapped heat cause global temperatures to rise—“global warming”.

Extra details about the causes of global warming

Although details of global warming are well known, some important points will be stated for the benefit of those who might not know a thing or two about it.

Naturally, certain gases like carbon dioxide and methane (known as greenhouse gases—GHGs) help the Earth to trap the sun’s heat (cosmic rays) in the atmosphere, from where plants absorb it, use it to grow to maturity, and provide all types of food that empower all other living things.

Also, naturally, greenhouse gases warm the Earth’s surface to an extent that is enough to sustain all forms of life. Without greenhouse gases, the average temperature of the Earth would be around zero degrees (0º) Fahrenheit, instead of today’s temperature which is around 58º Fahrenheit.

(Note that a temperature of 0º Fahrenheit would not be sufficient enough to empower many important natural processes that keep most forms of life alive.)

Man-made activities, especially burning of fossil fuel and coal, produces methane, other greenhouse gases, and carbon cycles that emit carbon dioxide which is absorbed every year by oceans, seas, plants, lands, etc.

Greenhouse gases cause the greenhouse effect, and negatively impact global climate by warming.

97% of scientists believe that man-made activities are the major cause of global warming

Mankind has to be concerned about global warming, especially when multiple reviews of scientific literature have pointed to the fact that about 97% of scientists/climate specialists believe that man-made activities are the major cause of the high level of global warming which the world has been experiencing in recent times.

Also, according to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, scientists have concluded with 90% confidence that global warming is increasing beyond the natural level because of increasing heat-emitting man-made activities which produce lots of carbon dioxide through burning of natural non-renewable resources like fossil fuel oil, and coal.

In an Assessment Report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, “atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide are unprecedented in the last 800,000 years”.

It is now an indisputable fact that the earth is heating up. In fact, within the last century, the Earth’s temperature is believed to have risen by 1.3° Fahrenheit, and temperatures are still rising.

With global warming on the rise, in about 10, 20, or more years from today, mankind will likely feel greater negative impact of man-made burning and heating activities if sensible ways are not discovered and used to halt escalating rates of heating activities.

The negative effect of gases generated from man-made (anthropogenic) activities has been observed in the climate system, and is believed to be the major cause of global warming which has been observed since the middle of last century—the 20th century.

Evidence of the negative impacts of global warming

  • The thickness of ice in the regions around the north of the Arctic Circle has decreased by a surprising 50% within the past 50 years. Currently, much of the Arctic ice is just below the freezing point, and is floating on water where it is highly sensitive to little rises in temperature that can make it melt completely.
  • Large chunks of ice at the South Pole around the Antarctic Circle, which have been stable for tens of thousands of years, are gradually breaking off. In fact, during the year 2000, a piece of ice with an area of about 4,200 square miles, broke off. Also, in the year 2002, a large piece of ice broke off in the Thwaites Glacier.
  • In 2007, Greenland’s ice shelves decreased in size by 24 square miles. In 2008, it decreased further by 21 square miles.
  • Each time the ocean rises vertically by one foot, it spreads horizontally by about 100 feet, and covers more land. Researchers observed that sea levels rose by 8 inches in the past century, and was due to expansion of seawater as a result of absorbing more heat.
  • As the Earth’s temperature in rising, tropical diseases are gradually spreading northward; dangerous insects, waterborne diseases and malaria are spreading northwards.
  • From reliable records of temperatures taken in the past, 1995, 2005, and 2010 ranked among the hottest years ever, while the period between 2000 and 2009 was once considered to be the hottest decade.
  • Recent levels of carbon dioxide emission have been the highest in the past 100,000 years.

Despite all the evidence some people still don’t believe in global warming

It’s surprising that with all the evidence presented to the world by science, quite a number of people still don’t believe the globe is heating or warming up.

It is obvious that such people need to be educated to an extent. The following points could really clear up misunderstandings, or unfounded beliefs:

  • Greenhouse effect causes global warming when the Earth’s atmosphere traps heat radiating from the Earth towards space. Examples of gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect include water (H2O) vapor, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
  • There are 2 types of greenhouse effects that are part of global warming: man-made (anthropogenic) greenhouse effect, and natural greenhouse effect. Man-made greenhouse effect is caused by mankind, while natural greenhouse effect (which is mild) is caused by nature.
  • Natural greenhouse effect is spurred by natural solar and cosmic rays, and is extremely important because it supports all forms of life.
  • The major problem is that the general greenhouse effect (natural + man-made) has been strengthened by man-made activities, and made life-threatening negative impact on the whole environment.
  • Human activities, such as burning of fossil fuels, clearing of forests, amongst others, have strengthened the general greenhouse effect (natural + man-made), and caused global warming to be higher than it naturally was in the near and distant past; also, recent negative effects of warming are worse than at any other time in recorded history.
  • Man-made activities (especially the incessant and excessive burning of large quantities of fuel) have increased the total quantity of heat, and caused overall global warming (natural + man-made) to be higher than the natural level that cosmic rays has been producing for billions of years.
  • The greenhouse effect, which has increased excessively due to increasing man-made activities, is mainly attributed to increasing carbon dioxide emission levels.

One major question usually asked by people who don’t believe in global warming—and an answer

Question: If global warming is real, why is it so cold in some parts of the world?

Answer: Global warming is a gradual and on-going process that does not prevent cold weathers. Global warming can make average cold weathers not to be colder, and average warm weathers to be hotter: when temperatures are rising, it would be unlikely for colder weathers to occur, and likely for hotter weathers to occur.

Another thing is that a study of special local weather patterns could be misleading. Weather specialists have observed that cold winters in the North-eastern part of U.S.A. could be an exception; in which case there is abnormal warm winter around the same period in the whole of the northern hemisphere.

Over time, scientists expect winters to become shorter as global temperatures continue to rise. Some researchers have observed that colder-than-average winters could be caused by climate change. How? As the climate warms, more water vapor is produced; it enters the atmosphere, intensifies rain and snowstorms, thereby creating colder and snowier environments—winter.

Possible negative impacts of global warming in the future—if man-made heating activities are not curbed

  • According to the United Nations, sea levels could rise by 7 to 23 inches by the year 2100.
  • The polar ice cap may vanish completely and permanently, and alter the Earth’s natural weather by changing the flow of air and ocean currents around the world.
  • If all the ice in Antarctica melts, sea levels would rise by about 180 feet worldwide.
  • If all the ice in Greenland melts, sea levels would rise by about 21 feet worldwide.
  • If ocean and sea levels continue to rise, there will be a gradual change in the orientation of the map of the Earth’s coastlines

How faith comes, grows, and increasingly becomes stronger!

Although many people lose the powerful feeling or strong impact of positive words and thoughts long after they have been read or thought about, it doesn’t mean that continuous hearing or reading of positive words doesn’t have a long-lasting impact—it certainly does!

The history of events surrounding Jesus Christ and his disciples shows that “faith comes by hearing…hearing by the word of GOD”—Romans 10:17 (The Christian Bible).

Faith doesn’t always come as a complete or instant package, especially if one is new to faith. Faith comes, accumulates or increases by hearing. This is true, if not, Jesus’ disciples would have been able to cast out the demons that possessed a boy about 2,000 years ago. 

But they were unable to—much to Jesus’ dismay—even though they had lived with Jesus, heard many positive messages he uttered about GOD’s greatness, and seen many great signs and wonders that he did over and over, again and again.

The truth of the matter is that the faith of Jesus’ disciples had not yet come, grown, or become strong enough to do what their master did on a regular basis.

Funny enough, a centurion who never interacted much with Jesus prior to the time they met, shocked Jesus with his faith even though he never had the opportunity to hear Jesus’ positive words, or seen the great wonders Jesus effected in real life—read Matthew 8:5–13 (the Christian Bible).

The faith that achieves great success is not a respecter of persons

Without a sufficient amount of faith in yourself, it would be difficult to achieve great feats in life; it would be even more difficult to please GOD, the owner and master of the universe!

“But without faith, it is impossible to please GOD…”—Hebrews 11:6 (The Christian Bible)

If GOD demands that we have faith, regardless of how difficult or impossible it is for us to generate faith, then the responsibility rests on us to do the needful in order to get faith!

And the needful thing is to continue to believe and be positive in the midst of challenges: we have to continue hearing, meditating, and believing in positivity or positive thoughts.

Contrary to the belief system in some religions, the word of GOD does not refer only to the scriptures—or specifically The Christian Bible. If good, inspiring and uplifting words or thoughts have their basis and foundation in GOD, they can also be referred to, or regarded as the word of GOD!

In reality, the word or GOD consists much more of thoughts than literal words; and the thoughts consists of the power of GOD which is only positive and uplifting! The written word of GOD is the power of GOD in written form—in human writing; this depends on the type of language used.

Faith comes by hearing—also, faith will continue to grow stronger by continuously hearing or reading positive things

Generally, GOD’s words have informed us that without faith it is impossible to do great works, and please Him.

But, good enough, he has told us how to get faith—by hearing and continuously believing. So if we don’t have or develop faith, especially in the midst of challenges, then GOD is not to be blamed.

It would be wrong to blame GOD for our lack of faith; this is also true about salvation which is outside the scope of this article. You cannot acquire certain levels of faith without continuously hearing meditating on the word of GOD or positivity—positive words or thoughts.

How does faith for healing come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning healing.

How does faith for miracles come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning miracles.

How does faith for the prophecy come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning prophecy.

How does faith for wealth come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning wealth.

How does faith for general success come? It comes by continuously hearing and meditating on the word of GOD or positivity (positive words) concerning general success!

But how can environmentally unsustainable societies move from an unsustainable level to a sustainable one? What important measures must be put in place before such a great challenge can be surmounted—especially when an appreciable amount of time, human and natural resources are needed in transforming a society and its environment?

This article will provide very important strategies that could help to transform environmentally unsustainable societies into environmentally sustainable ones.

An environmentally sustainable society is one that has enough natural resources that can cater for the needs of its present and future population(s) without threatening the ability of its future generations to meet their own basic needs.

Environmentally sustainable societies know that if they waste, excessively deplete and mismanage their natural resources/capital, they will deteriorate from a sustainable level to an unsustainable one.

Environmentally sustainable societies exploit natural resources (i.e., the Earth’s natural capital or fund which nature provides for all human beings, plants and animals), and use them to enhance their environments and increase their present and future ability to meet human, animal and plant needs.

Sustainability of the environment is in the hands of mankind, and it needs to be properly implemented and maintained

On the other hand, environmentally unsustainable societies also exist, and there is growing evidence that some environmentally sustainable societies are showing signs of becoming environmentally unsustainable—i.e., they are living unsustainably and their environments are degrading.

What are some major characteristics of environmentally unsustainable societies?

  • their air is highly polluted with smoke from indigenous industries; it’s at such a degree that people have to turn on vehicle headlights during the day in order to see what is in front of them.
  • their lakes, rivers, seas, oceans, or water bodies are polluted because they contain various types of toxic solid and liquid wastes that have been dumped or discharged by people.
  • their lands are highly polluted with wastes from factories; this has happened to such a degree that people and industries have abandoned certain polluted wastelands. Why? Because they are unproductive and have recorded high rates of unemployment and crime.
  • etc.—many other unsustainable characteristics.

Now, what are the most important steps that can be taken in order to transform an environmentally unsustainable society into an environmentally sustainable one?

(1) Establish, or improve existing social capital: Everybody in each society has to put hands together in order to solve environmental problems—this needs to start at the grassroots

In order for an environmentally unsustainable society to become environmentally sustainable (or much less environmentally unsustainable) it has to build or improve on what sociologists call “social capital”.

Each society has a social capital—its own citizens.

In order to establish or improve social capital, people from different backgrounds, with opinions and characteristics have to come together, communicate with each other, understand each other, and find a common ground to work together in order to solve existing societal or environmental problems.

In this regard, indigenous local society leaders, learned people, government officials, business leaders, and all citizens have to come together, discuss, work out modalities and look for high- and low-cost options that can be used to transform ailing and highly polluted unsustainable societies into sustainable and livable ones.

The solutions to environmental problems are easier to implement if every single person in a society—regardless of age or background—is carried along.

Important questions that should be asked during meetings—when establishing or improving social capital:

  • is there pollution in the environment—air, water, and land?
  • is there too much pollution? What is the presumed level of pollution?
  • what are the causes or existing sources of pollution?
  • how can pollution be eradicated from the society or environment?
  • should the sources of pollution be regulated or eradicate, even if it will affect the economy/standard of living, but end up preserving health?
  • etc.—many other important questions.

If citizens of societies do not put heads together, and reason together, it will be difficult to eradicate environmental problems because, naturally, without discussions, enlightenment and leadership, many people tend to neglect Mother Nature’s call of duty to protect the environment.

(2) Once respective leaders can summon people together and address environmental issues, a timeline should be set—as agreed—in which it is believed that most important goals would be achieved; for example: environmental clean-up, closure of polluting factories, etc.

(Also, there should be a plan, not only for a few meetings, but a continuous series of meetings, as agreed by all members of a society or community.)

All citizens, especially leaders and learned people, should be allowed to contribute as much as possible so that environmental problems can be identified precisely and goals/solutions can be proffered after members of society brain-storm all important solutions, or ideas provided by citizens.

Examples of some important goals that environmentally unsustainable societies could proffer

  • enforce or encourage reduction of air pollution from industries—from high emission rates to low or even zero-emission rates, if possible.
  • stop or discourage littering/open dumping of solid waste on land, and in water bodies.
  • stop construction of structures, building or factories that encourages increasing discharge of waste into air, water and land environments.
  • launch a recycling program in order to conserve certain resources, and recycle and re-use others that are recyclable and reusable.
  • replace some high carbon-emitting factories and vehicles that use more fossil fuel, with those that use more electricity, and give off low- or zero-emission discharges. Note: replacement could only be a good option if there is sufficient funding to do it.
  • etc.

(3) Implement goals

All stated goals that have been agreed on, should be zealously and vigorously implemented, and effectively monitored from inception to completion.

If goals are properly implemented, then air pollution and environmental degradation levels will gradually become much lower than the minimum levels recommended locally, or internationally.

(4) Exercise patience

It takes time and patience to get things done in today’s world. Government leaders, society leaders, learned people and citizens have to exercise a lot of patience because transforming an environmentally unsustainable society into a sustainable one would involve a lot of human resources, natural resources, energy, and a lot of time as well. It is not such an easy task as stated on paper, but it can be done.

If patience is not properly exercised, the dream of a society can be forgotten, long before a single step is taken.

In fact, research conducted by social scientists suggests that it takes between 5% and 10% of the population of a society, community, country, or the whole world to bring about a “major social change”.

Anthropologist Margaret Mead once summed up the ability a group of people could have if they desire to make a social change: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

  • If societies start now, rather than later, they will still have enough time to change from environmentally unsustainable societies to environmentally sustainable ones.

Recommendations for sustainable living

There are some recommendable strategies that can be used to reduce negative environmental impact and create more environmentally sustainable environments/societies.

The following strategies can help to sustain the Earth’s natural capital and create more sustainable environments:

1. Carry everybody along—as stated at the beginning of the article.

2. Rely more on renewable energy from the sun, and indirect forms of solar energy such as wind and flowing water. Solar energy can provide most heating and electricity needs without emitting health-deteriorating carbon compounds into the atmosphere.

3. Protect the biodiversity of nature by preventing pollution and degradation of air, water bodies and land—since pollution affects the health of animal species, natural processes and ecosystems.

4. Sustain the Earth’s natural chemical cycles by reducing pollution, production, and mismanagement of solid wastes; and preventing natural systems from being overloaded with harmful man-made chemicals.

Will mankind’s creation overpower mankind?— The future of AI (artificial intelligence)

It’s normal for everyone to believe that any creator would always have power or influence over their creation.

Believers in GOD know that GOD created man from dust, and then “breathed the breathe of life into his nostrils, and man became a living soul.”

On the other hand, believers in mythology believe that the ancient gods (who were probably GOD’s creatures, just like mankind is) had divine power to create and control their creations.

In fact, Greek mythology states that the goddess Aphrodite could make statues spring to life. Aphrodite, who had pity on an artists named “Pygmalion”, after he fell uncontrollably in love with a statue, granted him his best wish and turned the statue into a beautiful woman called “Galatea”.

The god Hephaestus, who was the blacksmith of the gods, had the ability to create a militant army made of metal; he animated each member of an army to move in a way that looked human.

Today, mankind is like Hephaestus, forging metals, animating machines, and “breathing life”not only into clay, but into steel, zinc, silicon, aluminium, and other metals—thereby creating artificial forms of intelligence.

But, will artificial intelligence keep elevating us higher, and to a point of total freedom, or complete destruction?

Will artificial intelligence overpower mankind if mankind is not careful?

Available information points to the fact that, if mankind is not careful, it could be overpowered by its own creation, especially when its creation is given autonomy, or a very high degree of it.

What is autonomy?

Autonomy is the ability to make decisions without external influence. In the field of robotics, autonomy is a term used to refer to the ability a robot has to make decisions without human interference or influence.

We may agree that the autonomy GOD gave mankind, has been used by mankind to do many meaningful things—not to mention the meaningless ones.

Autonomous robots (subjects of AI), just like human beings, also have the ability to make their own decisions and carry out actions.

A well-designed autonomous robot is one that is programmed to perceive what is going on in its surroundings, and make decisions based on what it perceives, or “has been programmed to recognize”.

If an autonomous robot hasn’t been programmed to recognize a factor that hasn’t been detected/known, but is highly influencial, then how good would the robot be at doing the job it has been designed for?

I don’t think it would be that good.

The possibility that autonomous AI can cause problems for mankind

If autonomous robots have been “programmed”, isn’t it possible that they might not have been “programmed sufficiently enough”? Insufficient programming could lead to confusion and a lot of problems.

Although it’s not good to be pessimistic, we may agree that if science & technology is mixed with a selfish, war-mongering, and materially-minded attitude, then autonomous AI could ruin mankind, and probably bring mankind to a bitter end.

Mankind’s creation (AI) has autonomous abilities/tendencies

In the age of science we’ve witnessed the industrial revolution, the electronic revolution, and many others. In the robotic revolution (which contains both human-decision-based AI, and autonomous AI) there are “Predator drones”: pilotless robot planes that are actually pilotless.

They have been used with spot-on accuracy to target terrorists in countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan. On the other hand, they have been less accurate on a number of occasions.

Currently, there are cars that can drive themselves. Also, there is a highly advanced robot (named ASIMO—Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) that can do a lot of things some human beings can’t do. It can move around, walk slowly, run, climb stairs, serve coffee, and even dance.

AI based on human decisions, and AI based on autonomous decisions

AI can be controlled, either by human decisions, or by autonomous decisions: it’s either human beings make decisions for robots, or robots make decisions and take actions by themselves—autonomously, and based on programmes (programming).

The Predator drone, which operates from the sky, and is used to fire deadly missiles at terrorists, is controlled by a human being who probably sits in front of a computer screen (away from the drone) and selects targets; in this instance, a human being calls the shots, and decides what/where should be targeted.

(No one knows for sure whether human beings, or the drones themselves, are at fault whenever wrong targets are being hit.)

Another example involving human decision, is when a car drives itself under the influence of a GPS map stored in its memory, and is controlled by human beings who are somewhere else away from the car.

These two examples won’t easily erase the nightmare of having fully conscious and autonomous robots that might be insufficiently programmed.

Autonomous robots, like “the Roomba”, are capable of making decisions based on what they perceive in their surroundings.

Autonomous robots, which make decisions based on a set of sensors that allow them perceive their environments, do their jobs without the aid of human beings.

But, if programming is insufficient, will autonomous robots do their jobs properly?

So generally speaking, there are two different types of robots

The first type of robot, which requires human decisions, is remote-controlled by human beings; while the second one, which is autonomous, is programmed to follow precise instructions without interference from human beings.

These types of robots are already in existence and have generated a lot of air/internet waves.

The robots could be slowly entering into human activities, as much as they have been entering into battlefields and places where humans wouldn’t want to waste their time.

If human beings decide not to make decisions—as is the case with autonomous robots—they (humans) could be playing with helpful toys that are two-edged swords, and have the potential to bring a combination of both help and destruction.

Without precise and properly monitored decision-making from human beings, smart autonomous robots (especially those designed for warfare) could bring something unsavoury upon mankind.

Conclusion

Although it’s true that awesome breakthroughs have been made, things have to be put into a healthier perspective, especially after scientists once voiced their opinions at a conference where they stated that in about 20 to 1,000 years time, they believe that mankind will create robots that could be as smart as mankind itself.

In addition, The New York Times once ran a headline titled: “Scientists Worry Machines May Outsmart Man.”

And if we examine autonomous robots closely, there is less conviction about how properly mankind will be able to continue controlling them.

How to reduce/eradicate environmental problems caused by mismanagement of common & shareable resources

Mismanagement of resources and environmental pollution is common in places where a lot of people use common and shareable resources together. Today’s post defines private, common and shareable resources or properties, and provides recommendable solutions that could reduce or prevent environmental problems and degradation caused by unsustainable use of resources and mismanagement of common & shareable resources—at local and global level.

Since the beginning of time, nature has been providing resources and sustaining all forms of living and non-living things without handing right/ownership over any resource to any particular person or group of people. However, over time, people, different nations and governments have been claiming ownership over resources, and have engaged in wars in order to secure rights over resources and materials supplied by nature.

When a resource is owned, it becomes a property. To own a property is one thing; to manage it is another. One major problem associated with both common and shareable properties—which we will soon define—is that they are much more mismanaged than private property is.

Misuse of resources leads to mismanagement of resources, wars, environmental pollution, environmental degradation and destruction of human lives and properties. Irrespective of the type of procedures used by people or organizations to acquire resource ownership or properties in various regions or countries—legally or illegally—resource or property can be categorized into any one of the following three:

(1) Private resource

A private resource is any resource owned by an individual, or an organization—or any group of individuals or organizations. Examples of resources that could be called private resources include land, farmland, minerals, animals, etc.

(2) Common resource

A common resource is any resource owned by large groups of individuals or organizations. For example, all citizens of the United States own about one-third of the total land area of the country. Examples of common resources include irrigation systems, pasture/grazing land, fossil fuel, coal, electricity, etc.

(3) Shareable/open-access resource

A shareable or open-access resource is any resource owned by everybody because it’s shared by everybody and is openly accessible to any interested individual. Examples of shareable resources include groundwater, air, fishes, lakes, rivers, oceans, etc. In some cases, common resource and shareable resource mean the same thing.

Over the decades, several wars and cases of mismanagement and wastage of common and shareable resources have been incited by the mentality that “If I don’t use this resource, then someone else will; it doesn’t matter whether I actually need this resource, let me just use it; even if I waste it and pollute the environment, it doesn’t matter; it will always be available”.

Whenever few people have used resources, this mentality has not often led to instances of drastic negative environmental impacts; however, whenever many people have used resources, this mentality has often made the reverse to occur. Lots of evidence have shown that negative environmental impacts occur whenever a lot of people use shareable resources like air, various species of fish in oceans, groundwater from open hand-dug wells, etc.

Observations & Lessons

1. Since the beginning of the industrial age, the Earth’s environment has been exposed to negative impacts of indiscriminate disposal of chemicals, gases, liquid and solid wastes, etc.

2. Uncontrolled use of fossil fuel in industrial and transportation facilities has caused carbon dioxide emission levels to rise and increase environmental temperature, thereby melting ice caps and rising sea levels.

3. Large quantities of waste, sewage and unwanted materials like plastics have been indiscriminately disposed in the environment, and have found their ways into lakes, rivers, oceans and seas; moreso, they have polluted these bodies of water, and negatively impacted the quality of human and marine lives.

4. Etc.

How to reduce/eradicate global environmental problems caused by mismanagement of common & shareable resources

(1) Regulate the use of common and shareable resources so that rates of consumption would be less than rates causing environmental problems. This is one area where governments and leaders of communities have to come in and establish laws/regulations that would limit the use of various types of resources to sustainable levels, and also limit the quantity of pollutants disposed on land, air and water environments.

(2) Regulate access to common and shareable resources. This is another area where leaders of governments and societies can make a difference by passing laws that would regulate or limit access to, and exposure of shareable resources like fish and other species that have been killed beyond sustainable limits—even to the point of extinction.

Laws could be implemented that would limit or regulate the amount of time that certain land, air, and water environments are exposed to different types of environmentally degrading activities, and different sources of pollution and pollutants.

(3) Convert ownership of shareable resources from the public, to a private organization(s) or person(s). The reason for this is that whenever an individual (or a few individuals) owns a resource, such a resource tends to be protected and managed better.

Although some individuals would be able to manage public-turned-private resources better, life could be difficult for those individuals who don’t have rights to public resources that have been converted to private ones.

Imagine the possible negative impacts mankind could be exposed to if some self-centered and stingy individuals (who are, on the other hand, probably good managers) owned the air, rivers, oceans and seas, and kept them as their own private property.

(4) Harmonize scientific solutions from research with political processes dictated by world leaders. While scientists look for solutions to prevent degradation of forests and unsustainable use of common and shareable resources, the applicability of their work would be limited if there is no effective input from political leaders.

For example, major environmental problems could include:

  • extinction of wildlife. 
  • depletion of forests.
  • pollution of rivers.

For these problems to be solved, scientists might state that:

  • people should limit or stop killing wildlife—or they should be prevented from doing so.
  • people should limit or stop cutting down matured trees—or they should be prevented from doing so.
  • people should stop disposing chemicals into rivers—or they should be prevented from doing so.

But the implementation of such solutions would require input from leaders of government through enforcement of environmental laws and regulations.

In this area, one major challenge is that enforcement of laws often leads to conflict between scientists, and either government, businesspeople or citizens.

For example, when scientists advise that forests should be protected in order to preserve and conserve important diversity of plants and animals, citizens and timber/paper production companies might protest against scientists because of the benefit they derive from using wood and paper.

The spiritual implication of human cloning: What could GOD’s perspective be?

With ongoing presumption that scientists have cloned, might have cloned, or would clone human beings after successfully cloning animals, what could be opinion of mankind’s creator about cloning? What could GOD’s perspective be?

But first, what is cloning?

Cloning is a process in which genetically identical or similar-looking entities of the same organism are produced, either naturally, or artificially—as is the practice in laboratory experiments carried out by medical scientists.

Naturally, many organisms produce clones by asexual reproduction. Artificially, medical scientists have been producing clones, or exact copies of cells, or parts of DNAs.

It is believed that if medical scientists can grow organs of the human body, then they can use the same knowledge to regrow a complete human body and produce an exact genetic copy—a human clone.

However, despite this belief, there is a widely held opinion that human cloning hasn’t yet been achieved, despite many claims to the contrary.

The dawn of artificial cloning

The term “cloning” made lots of air waves and headlines in 1997 when Ian Wilmut (Roslin Institute of the University of Edinburgh) successfully cloned “Dolly the sheep”.

Wilmut was able to achieve this great feat by producing an exact genetic copy of an original sheep after taking a cell from it, extracting the DNA from its nucleus, and inserting the nucleus into an egg cell.

Not long after Wilmut’s achievement, many groups around the world followed his lead and cloned a wide variety of animals, including horses, cats, cattle, mice, goats, pigs, dogs, etc.

It’s on record that the first, second, and third generations of the clones exist.

What about human cloning?

Since artificial cloning started, there have been a number of reports and claims that human cloning has been successfully achieved.

On the other hand, other reports claim that any claims about success in human cloning are probably bogus claims which haven’t been proven yet.

If the statement in the previous paragraph is true—although we shouldn’t rely on it—then we can assume that no scientist has successfully cloned any primate, talk-less of a human being.

If human cloning has been successful, even though it hasn’t been authenticated, then what could be the spiritual implication for using such an unnatural process that doesn’t seem to emanate directly from GOD?

What would be the reaction of the world’s great religions? What would GOD feel about it—what, what, what?

What do religious/spiritual texts state?

If we observe the stories of creation in different religious texts, it is quite clear that GOD made just one path for human beings to procreate or produce offspring in the world: by sexual reproduction. This seems to be the only provision GOD made for souls/spirits and the animated parts of bodies (both human beings and animals) to incarnate here on Earth.

But we know that mankind always has a tendency to seek its own plan, which in many cases, is far apart from that of GOD and tends to be more self-destructive: in this regard, medical science might have already found another way to reproduce human beings through human cloning.

The skepticism surrounding human cloning

If judged by spiritual beliefs, skepticism will likely arise around cloning because it doesn’t give an answer whether souls or spirits animate the cloned bodies of organisms.

The soul or spirit, as we know it, is the invisible and immaterial essence that animates the physical bodies of human beings, and probably other organisms. The soul doesn’t seem to be created here on Earth.

And without a soul, no body wouldn’t be able to do anything.

Just like natural living bodies are full of life, successful clones are also full of life, and are as lively and animated as the complete body of the organisms they were cloned from.

But do the animated (spirit/soul) parts of clones come from human beings, or from GOD? Are they real or not? And who created such souls, if they really exist in the first place?

For sure, it’s already here, or it’s already on the way

One of the long-held dreams of certain medical scientists of the twenty-first century, is to create human beings from possible man-made processes.

Like we hinted earlier, it is either that human cloning has already been achieved, or it is yet to be achieved.

It’s possible that scientists have already achieved human cloning successfully, but are hiding evidence about it—for whatever reason(s) best known to them.

Regardless, doesn’t the spiritual implication look scary when it’s obvious mankind has been, or could be able to create new life forms—not through incantations, magic, or prayers, but through knowledge and advancements made in the field of medical science?

Should scientists mind what they seek for?

Although medical science has advanced tremendously, and it looks obvious that mankind has/would have an artificial process for reproducing life in an unnatural way—a way not provided by GOD—shouldn’t scientists mind what they wish for?

When we read the stories of GOD’s anger and wrath after fallen angels (who were not human) bore offsprings after mating with mankind, wouldn’t anyone tend to think that science could be erring greatly by discovering and using a process GOD did not design for mankind.

What could be the public’s view about human cloning?

If human cloning becomes possible to an appreciable degree, it might meet social obstacles. How well will it be accepted? Do people think that cloning people is a moral act? Is it ethical to clone fellow human beings?

My personal opinion is that many religions will oppose human cloning, in the same fashion that the Catholic Church opposed test tube babies back in 1978 when Louise Brown became the first baby in history to be conceived in a test tube.

If the public speaks up and rises against human cloning, then most governments would definitely pass laws to ban human cloning technology; or, at best (for scientists or proponents of human cloning), most governments could regulate human cloning with tight fists.

On the other hand, if human cloning is widely accepted, then at most, it’s likely that only few people would be clones, in just the same way that few natural clones exist in the form of identical twins and triplets—so the hype about human cloning might gradually wear off.

What is GOD’s opinion about the animated part (soul or soul-less?) of a clone?

With the knowledge we have about cloning, we know that many questions could spring up whenever the subject of GOD and human cloning are mentioned in any discussion. Questions like these could arise:

  • If human bodies are duplicated, will the spirits that animate the human bodies also be duplicated or cloned?
  • Will cloned human beings have a spiritual life? Will they be recognized by GOD?
  • If a human being is cloned, will it have any memory? (It has been widely reported that clones have no memory.)
  • Will cloned spirits have a record in GOD’s record book of human life on Earth?
  • Are the medical scientists who practice cloning distorting the true human image of GOD?

After birth, and immediately human beings become conscious, they also start figuring out ways to survive; they show these urges by acquiring needs, physical properties, or what we may call “material or earthly possessions”.

But as world history and experiences have shown, when acquisition of material possessions is unguided and unchecked, it leads to negative consequences on the material world, and loss of spirituality in the invisible world—loss of treasures in the next world, or heaven.

Materialism (which we will discuss very soon) can actually prevent us from laying up/storing our treasures in heaven—especially if we don’t put our spiritual and material priorities right.

If people think it’s great to store large sums of money and countless treasures in banks, then think about how much more awesome it is/would be to store spiritual coins and cashless immaterial eternal riches in the paradise of invisible heaven—just think about it for a few moments.

Think about how great it would be to join the bandwagon of probably a few people who have stored/been storing their treasures in heaven.

Give the World Quality Service, and You Will Receive Quality Greatness

But first, what is materialism?

Materialism can be defined in different ways:

  • it is the belief that material possessions and physical comfort are more important priorities than spirituality or spiritual values like love, empathy, etc. Usually, materialistic people acquire wealth and material possessions, with little or no interest in ethical, moral or spiritual matters.
  • it is the belief that physical things are the only reality. Such a belief tends to lay more emphasis on acquiring material things, rather than intellectual or spiritual ones.
  • it is the predominant desire and practice of pursuing wealth and other tangible things, up to the point of ignoring the eternal importance of spiritual values.

Is it wrong to acquire physical or material possessions?

There is nothing wrong in acquiring physical or material possessions; however, acquiring physical or material possessions at the expense of spirituality and the next life—especially when everybody knows that life on Earth doesn’t last forever—is tantamount to practicing materialism and losing eternal treasures.

It could be a bad decision (but not wrong though) to despise earthly possessions and riches that were created by the will and power of GOD—the GOD that believers always seek to serve and honour.

Probably, the thing to do is this: make good use of earthly possessions, especially for the benefit of those around you, but don’t allow earthly possessions degrade your spiritual stature and put your spirit to sleep.

And always remember this: nobody has ever succeeded in taking a single unit of money, material possession or property into the next life; yet everybody takes away their degree of spirituality into the next life.

The more you practice doing good to others, the more you will increase in spiritual stature: the more spiritual you will become.

Also, increasing spiritual stature creates  a pathway for natural acquisition of higher spiritual gifts, wisdom and understanding.

What is spirituality?

Spirituality is synonymous with immateriality, or the belief that spiritual things are more valuable than material things, or the acquisition of material possessions; it can also be defined as the practice of doing things that nurture the spirit and make it grow.

Because human nature tends to have selfish values, most people’s spirituality tends to decrease. It’s pertinent to note that whenever there is an increase in materialism, and its excesses are unchecked, spirituality will tend to reduce—if it actually doesn’t.

As strong as the spirit is, its growth can be hampered or negatively influenced if materialism is allowed to take the lead, and have its way.

And one of the things that can easily tarnish the growth and beauty of the spirit when there is emphasis on, and practice of false values—which mankind tends to do a lot.

Nowadays, people tend to think that money and material possessions are all that matter. For most people, as long as they have enough to eat, clothe and shelter themselves, etc., spiritual or immaterial things don’t really matter—meanwhile, spiritual and immaterial things are the things that matter the most.

How can spirituality be increased, raised or developed? How can we store treasures in heaven?

Before we give some examples on how spirituality can be increased or developed, it would be great to point out the fact that there are other things that have more lasting value than money: the following are examples of things that are more valuable than money: (By placing more emphasis on these things, people will be able to increase or raise their degree of spirituality.)

  • the spirit/soul—your eternal destiny.
  • love for others—humanity: the weak, poor, marginalized.
  • giving back rights to those who have been deprived of rights.
  • giving food, water and material possessions, especially to those who are in need.
  • helping, and expressing heartfelt empathy for others.
  • morality: choosing to do good, and refusing to do evil; choosing right instead of wrong; showing good conduct, and detesting bad conduct.
  • meditation: mind/spiritual concentration on good things, and for useful purposes.
  • etc.—anything that is good, and uplifts humanity and the whole environment.

The more you think about good thoughts, and practice doing good things, the more you will be storing treasures for yourself in heaven

If you can compare the fading riches in this life with the eternal riches and glories of the next life, and be aware that each time you think good thoughts and do good deeds to others, you are storing treasures in heaven, then you would prefer to do more good, grow in spiritual stature, and lay up treasures for yourself in heaven—the next life.

And the good thing is that we can never help others too much; in fact, by helping others too much, we will actually be helping ourselves, eternally.

We can never have too much spirituality. We can never have too much good thinking or purity of thought—never. There is no limit at which goodness is meant to stop.

In which ways can materialism negatively influence and reduce spirituality?

The negative influence of materialism is a broad subject. However, we will still give a few examples to illustrate how materialism can reduce spirituality—especially if it’s not controlled:

  • choosing personal satisfaction, and being greedy for money at the expense of other people’s lives.
  • doing everything possible to acquire physical properties that belong to other people, even if killing is required.
  • causing economic problems for society, local government, state, or nation by diverting funds from public to private use.
  • choosing to do wrong instead of right, and consciously overlooking right choices, while deliberately picking wrong ones.
  • etc.—many other examples.

Materialism at its peak, is not only confined to the greedy and selfish acquisition of money; it is also confined to the pursuit of power and control.

And where there is power, corruption is bound to manifest. Materialism generates many other negative emotions or feelings such as jealousy, lust, selfishness, lack of concern, carelessness, etc.

The main thing that matters to materialists (people who have higher regard for earthly/material possessions than immaterial/spiritual values) is personal high quality life and comfort, amongst others.

Main points that should be remembered

  • we can store treasures in heaven by seeking the kingdom of GOD which is primarily aimed at helping, and showing concern for others. GOD created us to help and, if possible, give up ourselves for others.
  • it is unnecessary to preach that people should renounce material things and earthly possessions; however, if people pursue material things until materialism sets in—and is left uncontrolled—then it will actually reduce their spirituality and hinder people from laying up/storing treasures in heaven.
  • when people are advised not to set their hearts on earthly possessions, it doesn’t mean that they should give away all their wealth and live in poverty.
  • everybody should joyfully enjoy what GOD has offered all his creatures.
  • nobody has ever succeeded in taking a single unit of money, and material possessions into to next life, or heaven.
  • the more money and material possessions you acquire, the more money and material possessions you will leave behind for other people, or the world.
  • if you are not careful, the more you strive to acquire money and material possessions, the more likely you would contaminate your spiritual stature and make it difficult for yourself to acquire spiritual treasures, and lay them up in heaven.
  • we have to make it our priority to serve and help others, whether we are rich, or poor; after all, life on this Earth is just like a tiny grain of sand when compared with eternity, which is synonymous with the countless grains of sand on the seashore.
  • after this brief earthly life, there exists a greater eternal life where spirituality is the currency and immaterial possession in use, and where the present-day money and currencies of the world are valueless.
  • make good use of earthly riches and possessions. On the other hand, do not allow them put your spiritual senses to sleep—as is the case with many people.

The words of Jesus—who in my opinion is the most spiritual to have ever walked the face of this world:

Matthew 6:19―21: “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal; But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal; For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” .

Progressive enlightenment of mankind: Can mankind become a complete master of natural forces?

In the past ages, natural activities were relegated to the domain of “mysticism”

For countless ages in the past, mankind was a passive observer of nature’s forces and activities which once seemed to be locked in the domain of mysticism and spiritualism. Accounts of the belief systems of the earliest races of mankind show that people once marveled at unknown and unexplainable forces that caused changes in whether, lightning, movement of distant stars, etc.

In the distant past, the forces of nature and natural activities were shrouded in mystery, and were often feared and worshipped. In fact, the ancients assumed that natural activities were beyond human comprehension, and the lack of adequate understanding of natural forces made the ancients to create myths about gods in order to explain the natural activities that occurred around them.

In recent ages, natural activities have been accepted as natural, and are explained by natural laws

In contrast with the beliefs of the ancients, recent generations have witnessed brilliant people succeed in controlling and tweaking the forces of nature for the benefit of mankind. Hopefully, with the inspiring achievements of this age, mankind could soon become a complete master of nature in the future.

Many natural activities that were once thought to be controlled by divine, spiritual or mystical power, are now clearly understood due to in-depth knowledge of the theories behind the forces of nature. It’s been proven that most activities that were once considered mystical have always been natural since the beginning of time; and God who is the creator of these forces, made them to always adhere to certain rules which could be effectively controlled—yesterday, today and forever.

Activities, considered as mystical/spiritual in past ages, are now accepted as “natural”

In ages bygone, there were predominant mystical or spiritual influences of magicians, prophets, men of God, etc. In recent ages, we’ve had technological advancements that still look like magic, and could pretty well have been relegated to the realm of mysticism, witchcraft or sorcery ages ago.

Today, we have a solid understanding of the forces of nature, and unlike the ancients who lived in the dark ages of science and didn’t understand the forces of nature, we don’t believe that lightning bolts, environmental plagues, etc., are the handwork of any gods.

It’s true that scientific predictions would likely not always be exact, even though they’ve been authoritative, and most times correct because they clearly express and approximately quantify the forces of nature that drive the world—and probably the entire universe.

Each time the forces and laws of nature were thoroughly studied, understood and described, their applications have changed human history and the way mankind views natural activities that have been propelled by natural forces.

Three major forces of nature & their impacts

(1) The first force we’ll look at is the force of gravity

Isaac Newton was the first to give a natural and convincing explanation why objects move after being exerted by forces, rather than by the influence of some gods or mystical spirits. Newton’s insight contributed a lot to the success of the industrial revolution which came much later.

(2) The second force is electromagnetic force

This force lights our world up: think about a force that lights up our cities and powers all our appliances. When great scientists such as Michael Faraday, Thomas Edison and others gave insight which explained the effects of combining electricity and magnetism, a clear pathway was prepared for the electronic revolution which has been a home for the greatest scientific discoveries and wonders.

(3) The third force is nuclear force

During the 1930’s, and around the time the atom was split, Albert Einstein wrote down a famous equation (E = mc2) which made it possible—for the first time—for scientists to understand the forces that light up our world and the universe. This understanding revealed the secret behind the brilliant lights from the stars. Also, it led to creation of the power behind atomic weapons which have destroyed a lot of lives and property.

Important points that should be noted

Fortunately, with the efforts of the most brilliant minds, mankind now has a great understanding of these major forces—there could be quite a good number of others which we could consider as minor forces.

Gravity is now properly described by the theory of general relativity (note: some theories and predictions of general relativity differ significantly from those of classical physics which is the core of engineering principles), while electromagnetic and nuclear forces are well described by the quantum theory which has given insight into happenings in the invisible subatomic worlds. Unlike the industrial and electronic revolution, the quantum theory led to the creation of the laser, transistor, and the digital revolution which is one of the pillars of modern technology.

The secret behind the DNA molecule, which was unknown and mysterious in ages past, has been unlocked by scientist through an understanding of the quantum theory. Furthermore, this has created a firm foundation for biotechnological revolution and the successful alteration of natural genes. The result is that mankind is now much more capable of seeing what science and technology will be able to achieve in years to come.

What more should we expect?

As it has happened over recent years—even up to the present time—there will be more unexpected and completely new surprises that would leave mankind speechless and in great awe. One thing is sure: the theories behind natural forces, which were unknown to the ancients, but are now understood and used as drivers of modern science and technology, would likely not be altered—at least in the foreseeable future. However, we can agree that improvements could be made when necessary.

Summary

Mystic and so-called spiritual beliefs behind natural activities in past ages, are now clearly explained by natural laws. In ages to come, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see mankind become complete masters of nature and take total control of this God-given world—and probably some other worlds out there.

Probably, then and only then would tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, climate change, planet-destructive comets, and other negative and uncontrollable natural activities be subdued or even prevented. If this happens, mankind will be completely in-charge of the world in the way that God intended when he handed over dominion of the world to man in the beginning.

How keyword optimization made my article attract the highest number of views & rank almost 1.0 on Google—6 screenshots & a practical example

It is widely believed that gaining experience (or trying out things) is the best way to learn and become more certain or confident in many areas of life. My experience in testing and applying keyword search optimization on a few articles has been paying off—but I know this is just the beginning!

Since I started publishing content on the internet 7 years ago, I’ve never really liked the idea of concentrating on keywords or applying keyword search optimization, most especially because of the extra effort it requires and the rules that have to be followed in order to properly incorporate it when producing content.

On the other hand, stats from my website’s dashboard, and Google search console performance reports have proven that keyword search optimization (or “keyword optimization SEO”) will always help articles attract views from other search engines, even if followers from a hosted platform (for e.g., Weebly, Blogger, WordPress.com, etc,) are not attracted to the article enough to make them “comment” or “like” the articles.

One major lesson I’ve learnt is that even if nobody is attracted enough to “comment on” or “like” an article that is first published within a hosted platform (like Blogger or WordPress.com) where most site owners or bloggers get/have their respective followers, the article can still receive the highest number of views from all types of search engines, especially Google. (But keyword search optimization will be needed to get there.)

This has “almost” been the case with one of my articles titled Definition & types of technical drawing. The article has roughly one-third the number of likes and comments that My reception of “the versatile blogger award” has; yet still, the former has been viewed 400+ times more than the latter.

In fact, as at the time of writing, My reception of “the versatile blogger award” was on the 1st position in terms of total number of likes from WordPress.com-based readers, while Definition & types of technical drawing was on the 71st position. We can all agree that results would have been very different if readers from outside WordPress.com—such as Google, Bing, Yahoo Search, Facebook, etc.—decided, or were easily allowed to like/comment on WordPress.com-based posts.

In order to express these realities more, we will look at screenshots, stats and analysis of a one of my article’s views on my site’s WordPress.com-hosted dashboard, and Google search console performance reports, respectively. In addition, we will briefly discuss 2 other articles that respond to searches/queries and attract views from Google.

Before we move forward, truth be told: over time, keyword optimization can help your articles attract the highest number of views as possible from all search engines, especially the most powerful one: Google. The right application of keyword search optimization can bring your website a lot of exposure, visitors, customers, conversions, and even money.

Generally, we will discuss the following:

  • Definition of keyword search optimization.
  • Importance/advantages of using keyword search optimization.
  • Screenshots, stats and analysis of my highest viewed keyword-search-optimized article titled: “Definition & types of technical drawing”.
  • Practical example: where and how to place keywords.
  • Conclusion.

Definition of keyword search optimization

Keyword optimization can be defined as the process of conducting keyword research in order to analyze and select the best keywords that would be able to target and drive qualified traffic from search engines to a website and its article(s).

Why do most websites and blogs take keyword search optimization as a “do-or-die” thing? Because the proper use of keywords can actually make a difference for websites and blogs.

It has to be noted that keyword search optimization is very important in the initial stages of planning for content production and search engine marketing campaigns.

Importance/advantages of using keyword search optimization

When it comes to search engine marketing, keyword research and optimization is very important because it offers high and valuable returns. As a content writer or blogger, searching for/using popular keywords (both short-tail and long-tail) will really help to produce trendy content that can attract organic traffic.

Keyword search optimization can actually help your content reach and attract potential customers if you have an idea of the words/keywords that are mostly typed during queries/searches. And to do that, you can use a keyword optimization tool website in a way that will be explained further below.

The undeniable fact is that, on search engines, most websites are ranked for quality in combination with an appropriate use of certain keywords. The use of keyword search optimization has the following advantages:

  • It attracts an engaged audience: the type of audience you are looking for.
  • It leads to increased conversion in terms of views and sales: it helps relevant content not only to attract visitors, but also to convert them to customers and sources of cash or revenue generation.
  • It gives content creators and bloggers insight into current internet marketing trends. By consistently analyzing keywords, it becomes easy to always understand internet users’ and consumers’ behavior, and what potential customers are mostly searching for.

Although the article Definition & types of technical drawing doesn’t have/hasn’t had anything close to the highest number of likes and comments on my site since it was published some time ago (February 15, 2019), it currently attracts between 30 and 50+ views per day, even when I don’t publish. Initially, it started from a few views per day, but was/has been increasing every day until its now around 50+ views per day.

Most of the views come from Google; you can see the stats for only one day on “Screenshot 1” below.

As you can see, the stats on the image show that my website attracted a total of 167 views on August 16, 2019. And even though I didn’t publish a new article on that day, my website was referred 63 times from Google, while the article itself attracted 55 views, and my Google search console performance clicks and impressions for days and weeks also confirm that most of the article’s views always come from Google, rather than from WordPress.com.

The good thing is that the longer an informative and keyword search optimized article stays on the internet, the more it tends to increasingly attract search engines, and the more it will be found, especially if content quality and keyword search optimization are properly incorporated into content during the writing stage, and prior to publishing.

As you can see on “Screenshot 2”, as at the time of writing, my site has been referred 963 times from Google, 156 times from Bing, and 20,156 times from WordPress.com’s reader in 2019; while the article itself has received 1,352 views from all search engines (including Google). Generally, as at the time of writing, my site has 110 articles, and has been viewed about 42,300+ times.

In addition, daily stats and observations from Google search console performance reports have proven that the article (even though comparably less popular on WordPress.com), has been viewed about 900+ times or more from Google; and this can be linked to keyword search optimization.

I also applied keyword search optimization to 2 other articles which have also been doing quite well on Google as you can see on “Screenshot 2” (above) and “Screenshot 3” (below) of my site’s stats dashboard and Google users’ queries/searches such as “why study environmental science” and “why do we need to study environmental science” (both are related to my article titled: 15 Reasons why you should study environmental science), and “christian freelance writing jobs” (related to my article titled: Christian freelance writing jobs: 19 websites that pay for submissions).

Generally, as you can see on “Screenshot 2”, no other article has attracted more views than the article under discussion; in addition, “Screenshot 3” informs us that no other article on this site has attracted more clicks and impressions on Google than Definition & types of technical drawing; it’s just way too far ahead of the rest.

In fact, the stats (August 17, 2019) on “Screenshot 4” shows that the article has an average position on 1.4 (almost 1.0) on Google whenever searches/queries are made using the long-tail keyword: “Types of technical drawing”.

As defined by Google, the average position, which is based on searches from every part of the world, is the average position of a website in search results whenever a specific search/query (for e.g., “types of technical drawing”) is made during searches by internet users.

One important thing to always remember is that proper use and placement of keywords can make it extremely possible for content to be easily seen and accessed through all types of search engine; be it Google, Bing, WordPress.com, etc.

The performance/stats of quality and keyword optimized articles on Google can be very inspiring and provide more insight to people who are interested in knowing the benefits of keyword search optimization.

A little bit later, we will view a brief practical example on how a combination of a keyword optimization tool website, and keyword search optimization (or, keyword optimization SEO) can be applied during writing process, and before publishing articles. The great results of such a combination usually show up long after keyword optimized articles have been published.

Practical example: where and how to place keywords

In order to explain where and how keywords should be best placed, we will use one of my most recently published articles as an example; it’s titled: Why WordPress.com is the best platform to build your website—comparison with WordPress.org.

Now, assume you are the person producing/writing the article, and follow the instructions below:

  • Think and concentrate on the exact type of article you want to write about, and write the main keyword and title down. You might not get the exact title you want at the beginning, but first, just write something important down, especially the keyword. The title should have an important specific word (or keywords). In this example, I am affiliate marketer who wants to genuinely encourage people to sign up with WordPress.com because of the obvious benefits/advantages, and stats; so I’ve decided to write a detailed and convincing article explaining why WordPress.com is better than WordPress.org. The thing to note is that WordPress.com is the main keyword here; so go to the next step: search for other “related” keywords associated with WordPress.com searches/queries by search engine users. Generally, the aim is to create an article that will provide a higher number of people with quality information when they type various related long-tail keywords on internet, or search engines.
  • Type “WordPress.com” in the search box and wait a moment for results to unfold.
  • In “Screenshot 5”, you will notice 7 keywords arranged in decreasing order of search volume stats (which are hidden by the website) from top to bottom. It is not so important to know what the actual search volume stats are; rather, the most important information to take away from the search is that globally, the first keyword (WordPress.com themes), is the most searched keyword (or “long-tail keyword”), while “WordPress.com pricing” is the second most searched keyword; and the list goes on.
  • If you think the first set of keywords are not too relevant to the content you want to produce, then do a better or broader job by going beyond the first 7 (or even first 10) keywords. Look at more keywords by going further below; so take a look at “Screenshot 6” where you can see the 8th placed keyword, up to the 23rd placed one: “WordPress.com themes”, “WordPress.com dashboard”, etc.
  • Out of the first 5, 10, or 20 most searched keywords, select just a few that you know will be relevant to the content you want to produce for people to find, or read/view. The more keywords you select and use, the more easier it will be for many people to find your articles via search engines. One of the keywords that would likely benefit a WordPress.com affiliate the most is the third most searched keyword which is “WordPress.com vs WordPress.org”. And that’s what this article is centered on, with an edge that explains the benefits of using WordPress.com, and why people should sign up.
  • Use the keywords in your content as subtitles and make them bold and a bit larger so that even scanners (people who hurriedly scan content) can still be attracted to one or two subtitles which can draw their attention in, and finally make them read the whole article.
  • Finally, write a relevant and information-rich article, and ensure that the main keywords are in each (or at least some) of the sub-titles or sub-headings.
  • Alternatively, you could write different articles, with each article concentrating only on one keyword—one article for one keyword. But if you choose this option, you will have to write several articles in order to cover many keywords.

Note:

  • In order to get the best results, use bold subtitles and make sure keywords are placed in some of them, if not all.
  • Make sure articles are informative, clearly expressed, and contain good grammar and punctuation (depending on the language used).
  • Place sufficient white space in your content because most people find it difficult to continuously read or concentrate on content that leaves no breathing space or pauses for the flow of their trending thoughts.
  • Be patient because, even after getting verified on Google search console, it usually takes Google time to index a site; say from somewhere between a few days, and some weeks.

Conclusion

If you use a keyword optimization tool website, and follow the above instructions, it will be easy to carry out keyword search & analysis, structure your internet marketing agenda, and continuously attract the broadest base of any type of audience.

Note first that it’s important to verify your site on Google search console in order to gain access to insightful stats that can sharpen your keyword search optimization strategy. You can do verification through your site’s WordPress.com dashboard, or here.

Because of the extra effort involved in applying keyword search optimization, most site owners, marketers and bloggers don’t find time to optimize keywords in their content.

This is not always good because the absence of keywords and keyword search optimization can negatively impact a site’s search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC) status/results, respectively. If you don’t choose and use the types of keywords that are often sought after, it might be a bit difficult for your content to be found on the wider internet base. We were created to last forever—sounds impossible, but is very true!

“GOD has put eternity into man’s heart…”—Ecclesiastes 3:11 (The Christian Bible).

“Surely, GOD would not have created such a being as man to exist only for a day! No, no, man was made for immortality”—Abraham Lincoln.

The life we live on Earth at the moment is not the only one there is, or will ever be! This life is like a rehearsal to the real life at the other side of the veil—the next life!

We are going to spend a hell lot of time on the other side of life than we will definitely ever spend here; in fact an uncountable times over. Life on Earth would be like primary or junior high school when compared to the university-like advanced life of eternity which lies beyond the borders of physical Earth life.

Life on Earth is like practice before the actual game and life of eternity; it is a warm-up in preparation for the next life. At most, we can live only 120 years on Earth, but in eternity we will live forever.

GOD created us with a gift that will make us last forever

We were born with an inner unlimited potential to last forever even though we are fully aware that everyone will die or experience physical death.

The reason why many of us feel we will live forever is because GOD has wired our spirit/soul that way. Although our physical hearts will stop beating one day, our spirit being is destined to live forever—especially in paradise if we do what is required of us by GOD.

While you can live anywhere on Earth, in eternity you either live in the vicinity of GOD, or away from it

While life on Earth has many places to stay, or where to live, eternity only makes it possible to stay in the vicinity of GOD, or away from it.

Our respective relationships with GOD and our fellow human beings will go a long way in determining how and where we will live our lives in eternity.

People who are convinced that this life is not the only life, usually live their life differently

Looking beyond this life will definitely add color to the way we handle tasks, relationships, and many circumstances of physical life that most people only evaluate on a short-term basis.

A lot of activities and goals that many people take as high-priority, are usually looked upon as “unworthy”, “petty”, and “trivial” by those whose hearts are preoccupied with the coming of eternity.

The closer we think about GOD and the greatness of the after-life, the more many popular worldly activities will appear smaller and less significant than the way they appear to many people.

If you live with an eternity-conscious mind, your values will be different

A man or woman who concentrates on eternal life uses their time and money more wisely, and their priorities are usually at odds with that of someone who is materially-minded and only interested in what this physical life has to offer.

Throughout history there have been many eternity-conscious people who placed higher priority on character and types of relationships, rather than material wealth and fame.

To make the most of life on Earth, keep the thought of eternity continuously at the front of your mind’s eye

There is much more about life in eternity than your current life on Earth reveals. Value eternity in your heart and remember that the life you see and perceive now is a visible tip of the iceberg; eternity is the greater part that you can’t see because it lies underneath.

Nobody can fathom the greatness of the eternal life that exists in the vicinity of GOD; words won’t be enough to express the actual blissful experience. The Christian Bible says in 1st Corinthians 2:9: “But as it is written, No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has conceived what GOD has in store for those that love Him”.

It is a sad fact that the only time many people think about eternity and the after-life is at funerals. Just as we spent nine months in our mothers’ wombs preparing to come into the world, so are we spending time in this world preparing for the next—eternal life!

The everlasting generosity of GOD, the universe, or Mother Nature

Past events that disproved the impossible: one person’s impossibility is another person’s possibility

(Image credit: Pixabay.com.) In many areas of life, the study of things that were deemed “impossible”, actually opened up completely unexpected paths to greater human endeavors—especially in science and technology.

In many areas of life, the study of things that were deemed “impossible”, actually opened up completely unexpected domains in many human endeavors—especially science and technology.

Many events in recorded history have proven that what one person thought was “impossible”, was often regarded by another person as a “possibility”—actually, one person’s food is another person’s poison.

Past events that illustrate how people who studied the impossible, changed the course of the world

It is sad to note that there were times in the past when certain reputable media outlets, professional bodies and scientists lacked positivity and belief, and declared that a number of scientific and technological ideas were hopelessly impossible:

The New York Times

During the 1920s and 1930s, Robert Goddard, who has been regarded as the founder of modern design & operation, was severely criticized by people who believed that rockets would never travel in space—in fact, they disdainfully called his pursuit “Goddard’s Folly”.

An unforgettable incident occurred in 1921 when the then editors of “The New York Times” made a disgraceful statement against Dr. Goddard’s work: “Professor Goddard does not know the relation between action and reaction and the need to have something better than a vacuum against which to react. He seems to lack the basic knowledge ladled out daily in high schools”.

The editors believed it would be impossible to send rockets into space because there would be no air in space for rockets to push against.

Unfortunately for the unbelieving editors, there statements have been found to be misguided and worthless for over several decades after their unfair criticism and utterances.

Nineteenth century chemists

Chemists of the nineteenth century popularly declared that it would be impossible to find a substance—popularly known as “the philosopher’s stone”—that could turn lead into gold.

Back then, 19th century chemistry was based on the fundamental immutability of elements such as lead; fast forward to this generation and see the big difference because lead atoms can now be turned into gold.

Lord Kelvin

Lord Kelvin, who is widely regarded as a prominent physicist, declared that “heavier-than-air” devices such as aircraft, would not be able to fly; also, he assumed that X-rays were deceptive, a hoax, and that the idea of the “radio” would be fruitless and without a future.

It’s surprising to witness how much time has passed by, and yet all the things Kelvin thought were impossible, have become possible, and continue to remain so till date.

At the end of the nineteenth century, most scientists thought it was impossible for the Earth to be up to a billion years old. Lord Kelvin widely declared that molten Earth would take between 20 to 40 million years to cool down; his statement contradicted that of geologists/Darwinian biologists who claimed that the Earth could be up to a billion years old.

Finally, the impossible was proven to be possible after the discovery of nuclear force by Madame Curie and other scientists showed that if the center of the Earth is heated via radioactive decay, it could be kept in a molten state for billions of years—which the Earth’s age actually is.

Albert Einstein

Initially, in the 1930s, Albert Einstein believed it would be impossible to make an atomic bomb.

Atomic physicists had already known that there was an appreciable quantity of energy located deep within nuclei—in accordance with Einstein’s equation, E = mc2; however, they wrongly assumed that the energy in each nucleus was too insignificant to use in making an atomic bomb.

On the other hand, atomic physicist Leo Szilard remembered H. G. Wells prediction in a 1914 novel titled “The World Set Free”, in which Wells predicted the development of the atomic bomb.

According to the book, Wells believed that the secret behind the atomic bomb would be discovered by a physicist in 1933.

Fortunately for Szilard, after he came across Well’s book in 1932, it inspired him to develop an idea in 1933 by magnifying the power of a single atom through a chain reaction, so that the energy generated from splitting a single uranium nucleus could be magnified trillions of times, and employed in making the atomic bomb.

Szilard conducted more experiments and held secret negotiations with Einstein and then American President Franklin Roosevelt; this led to “The Manhattan Project” which was used to build the atomic bomb.

“Black holes” were once regarded as “science fiction”. In fact, Einstein wrote a paper in 1939 which “proved” that it would be impossible for black holes to be formed.

Yet, in the present-day, the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray telescope have proven the existence of thousands of black holes in outer space.

Stephen Hawking

The great cosmologist Stephen Hawking tried to discover a new law of physics that would prove that time travel is impossible—he called his idea “chronology protection conjecture”.

Unfortunately, after many years of research, he was unable to disprove time travel. In fact, contrary to his idea, physicists have demonstrated that a law which would prevent time travel is beyond present-day reality.

And because there is no law that can prevent the existence of time machines, physicists see the possibility to create time machines and do time travel in the near future.

Observation

Each person has the power to believe in all types of possibilities and not be affected by the negative beliefs and influences of faithless reputable media outlets, professional bodies, people, and even great scientists.

Conclusion

Knowledge is power: the reason why certain technologies were deemed impossible was due to the obvious fact that some basic laws of natural science were unknown; this created huge gaps in the understanding of science back in the day—no wonder many scientific and technological ideas were considered impossible.

Throughout history, time and time again, people who studied things that were deemed “impossible”, stretched and broadened the boundaries of science and life, and inspired other scientists to believe that anything is “possible”.

The ideas and technologies that are regarded as “impossible” in the present-day, will become possible in a few years, decades, or centuries into the future.

Once again, the purpose of such an article is only to provide inspiration. The journey of a blogger or site owner can be hard, arduous and discouraging without having any idea or evidence of long-term benefits.

All of us need a bit of motivation here and there along the way—hence the aim of the post: to inspire! If we do not keep on trying, we might not know how easy it is to cut or bypass the hidden barriers!

Many musicians’ songs are topping charts in several countries across the globe. I’m not a musician, but for several weeks one of my articles has been topping Google’s number one spot in 28 countries whenever this popular keyword is typed: “types of technical drawing”.

This comes as a surprise, especially when the concerned article (Definition & types of technical drawing), which was published in February 2019, gradually and increasingly attracted views until this month (September) when it attracted far more views (especially via Google) than it ever did between February 2019 and the last day of last month (August 2019).

When these two articles were published, the average position of the concerned article was 1.4 and 1.3 respectively. At the time of publishing (today), the most recent average position of the article was 1.1, although the Google Search Console report of my website, which was last updated about 9 hours prior, recorded 1.2 as the average position.

In many cases, there is no way we can save the environment without giving up certain standards—even high ones. People tend to think that if we walk more, use smaller cars, recycle plastics/cans, compost certain forms of waste, reuse water, buy energy-efficient appliances…then such actions would cut down, and even interfere with the growth of an economy. People who think this way are greatly mistaken!

In fact, it is easier to save the environment much more than people think we possibly can, and without experiencing detrimental effects. We can conserve natural resources much better, and save the environment much more if we change certain daily habits like the ones related to eating and transportation—amongst others.

15 Reasons Why You Should Study Environmental Science

Generally—in addition to many other ways that can be used to save the environment, and which might not be listed in this article—we can save the environment much more through the following 18 ways:

1. By reducing our rate of/dependence on driving or using vehicles

Even though it’s quite true that we might not be able to walk always and everywhere, it has to be noted that the use of vehicles for everything, continues to produce emissions that compromise our air and health. One of the worst things that usually happens is when people leave vehicles on without using them for the purpose they were designed or manufactured for. It’s dangerous for people to continuously inhale polluted air. We can save the environment much more if people actually walk or take public transits much more than has been the norm.

2. By conserving water much more

Regardless of how much or less water is available in an environment, it can and should be conserved much more than has been the norm in many places. We can save the environment much more if we stop taps from running for too long without using them, especially when we brush and cook. We should try to make more use of spigots or regulators that control the flow of water, and shower-heads that conserve water and energy.

3. By reducing or conserving the amount of paper we use

About 40% of the world’s timber is used for producing paper. Paper production uses a lot of water and endangers natural habitats or environments where organisms or groups of organisms live. Since it has become normal to print and use paper, people don’t usually think about the effects of the excess paper that is being littered indiscriminately in the environment. We can save the environment much more if we lessen paper production and usage by reducing the amount of paper that is being wasted in many world activities.

4. By reusing refillable plastic water bottles/containers much more

Most people use refillable water bottles and containers once, or a few times and throw them away forever without seeing any value in using them again and again for the same purpose, and in a way that can save the environment. It is wasteful to throw away water bottles or containers that can be reused; in addition, waste endangers the environment and affects environmental health. We can save the environment from much more health hazards if we reuse refillable plastic bottles or containers, and plates/utensils, instead of disposable ones.

5. By being more mindful, and carefully scrutinizing what we throw away into trash cans or containers

Before you throw away “waste” collected from the kitchen or any other part of the house or environment, observe whether it contains any items that can be used or recycled. The obvious truth is that there are much more valuable wastes than we are usually aware of. There are lots of plastic bags and wastes that can be reused or repurposed, rather than thrown away.

Plastic bags that are thrown in the open environment can suffocate animals that mistaken them for food. Truth is that there are lots of so-called “useless trash or junk” that are still useful, and can be turned into something fresh and purposeful. We can save the environment much more if we don’t throw away wastes that we honestly believe can be reused in one form/way, or another.

6. By saving much more electricity

We should get adapted to turning off switches whenever we aren’t using light bulbs, laptops, desktops, TVs, and general electrical appliances. In addition, we should lower air conditioning or heating equipment when necessary: whenever we can, we should make our air conditioning or heating systems less hot or less cold, instead of allowing them run unnecessarily on certain temperatures.

We can save the environment much more if we stop the habit of leaving electrical devices plugged in without putting off switches. Leaving switches on can still allow such devices use what is known as “phantom” energy: electrical energy that is drawn in even though devices are in sleep mode after they have been turned off.

7. By preventing wastage of food

Many people draft a plan for the food they would eat in a day, week, or month, without ever taking time to quantify the approximate amount that would be enough for eating without leaving excess and throwing it away as waste into the on-looking and helpless environment.

By buying and using a necessary amount of food, people can save money and the environment, and reduce production of waste. We can save the environment much more if we cook only the quantity of food needed per meal/meal time, so that we won’t cook more than necessary. In addition, we can properly store leftovers and use them as one or more future meals. In other cases where there are unplanned leftovers, we can give them to beggars or people who are homeless.

It is believed that food production is one of the major causes of wildlife extinction. The food we eat contributes to approximately 25% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and is responsible for almost 60% loss of global biodiversity.

8. By living a bit of a vegetarian lifestyle—if we can’t live it completely

Nobody has to give up meat forever; however, it would bring the human body and general environments much benefit if people commit to living a meat-free lifestyle every few days, weeks, or more. It takes about 2,500 gallons of water—which is insufficient in so many societies—to produce only one pound of beef; imagine the quantity of water that would be required to produce the uncountable pounds of beef eaten on Earth every year. We can save the environment much more if we cut down the quantity of meat we produce and eat.

9. By properly disposing hazardous wastes

There are certain kinds of wastes or items that shouldn’t be thrown in open dumps, landfills, and sanitary sewers; examples include pharmaceutical products or by-products, pesticides, paint, fluorescent light bulbs, cleaning products, batteries, etc. It is advisable to dispose such items in a special or more technical way because if the common/popular methods are used to dispose them in the environment, they could deteriorate environmental air, land and water quality to an irreparable extent.

We can save the environment much more if we properly dispose hazardous waste much more than it has been usually disposed in many societies and environments, especially in developing or underdeveloped countries/societies.

10. By using our voices, websites, the internet, or any platform

One of the noblest things to do in life is to speak up for what is right, or speak up for the truth—for reality! Everyone would agree that it is right to speak up for the environment, and let people know how it should be saved or protected. We seem to be the first generation to know fully well that man-made activities are gradually destroying the environment; and we may be the last to do anything meaningful to save it.

We can save the environment much more if we use our voices, websites, platforms or brands to speak up for protection of the natural world which is the home of humans, animals, plants, and every other type of living and non-living thing. So speak up because people are out there and ready to listen, learn, and take action!

11. By downloading/installing softwares, instead of buying discs

Downloading many types of software—rather than buying them—reduces the amount of paper and materials used for packaging, and consequently reduces transportation/air pollution and waste of time and other forms of energy. In addition, it is often cheaper to download softwares than to buy discs that are used to install softwares. We can save the environment much more if we install more softwares by downloading them from the internet, rather than using them from paper-enveloped discs.

12. By using the internet to make more payments and receive more statements for household bills

Once there is good internet connection, making payments, and receiving statements online is quick and convenient, and can also make a huge difference on the depreciating state of the environment because it can cut down reliance and dependence on paper.

It was once reported that if every household in the U.S. received electronic statements for household bills, instead of offline paper statements, about 18.5 million trees could be saved; and the unnecessary production of 2.2 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases could be prevented. We can save the environment much more if we make more payments and receive more statements online, rather than buy discs offline; in addition, we can use e-mails to send more correspondences, rather than paper.

13. By using rechargeable batteries much more

Science has informed us about the extent of damage that corrosive acid (from discarded batteries) can create in/on soil, especially when it ends up in landfills. Apart from the fact that using rechargeable batteries can protect the environment much more, it can also save money on the long run. We can save the environment if we make use of rechargeable batteries much more than batteries that can’t be recharged more often!

14. By minimizing the amount of pesticides and fertilizers needed or required

Many farmers and food producers rely heavily on pesticides and fertilizers to kill pests, protect their growing crops, and help them grow as much as possible. On the other hand, the use of pesticides and fertilizers is often unregulated, unchecked, and thus causes more harm to the environment. We can save the environment much more if we use pesticides and fertilizers in a much more precise and regulated manner.

15. By reporting smoking vehicles to local air agencies

Air pollution is one of the most common and destructive forms of pollution, both to the environment and living things in general. Although it is true that smoking vehicles are the sources of income in countries with low standards of living, it is advisable to put smoking vehicles away because people’s health and lives are far much more important than vehicles that pollute the air and deteriorate environmental air quality. We can save the environment much more if we report vehicles that emit too much smoke than usual.

16. By painting with brushes and rollers, rather than using spray paints

Anybody who compares the mechanism behind spray paint, and painting with brushes or rollers, will come to a quick conclusion that spray paint emits higher quantities of chemicals into the environment than brushes and rollers do. We can save the environment much more if we minimize the rate and quantity of harmful chemicals emitted into the environment; in this regard, brushes and rollers should be used much more often than spray paint.

17. By regularly inspecting, servicing and emptying septic tanks

One of the most disturbing causes of land and water pollution is failed septic tanks/septic tank systems, especially in underdeveloped or developing nations. Septic tank systems run unchecked by both owners, and the government agencies in charge of environmental protection. We can save the environment much more if we regularly inspect, service and empty septic tanks at appropriate times.

18. By inspecting and regulating the amount and quality of noise circulating in the environment

Noise or sound pollution is the propagation of poor quality and harmful noise that has a negative impact on human and animal health. Most of the world’s noise is caused mainly by machines, transportation, and poor urban planning—especially side-by-side placement of industries together with residential buildings; this results in noise pollution and emotional imbalance within residential areas.

High noise levels can contribute to cardiovascular effects in humans, and increased incidences of coronary artery disease. In fact studies are showing that the rate and quality of noise has had negative effects on a range of animals in various habitats—generally, noise can directly impact the health of humans and animals. We can save the environment much more if we regulate noise-producing activities and put industries at an appreciable distance away from residential areas and various types of marine (water), land, and air environments.

Although faith in GOD is the greatest type of faith everyone should acquire, faith in one’s self is very important and necessary in many areas of life. And to those who think developing faith in one’s self is wrong, the best reply I’ll give is the one my greatest role model Jesus Christ gave his—then—faithless disciples who couldn’t heal a boy that was possessed by an unclean spirit; Mark 9:23 states: “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”.

Good enough, faith is not a respecter of persons or religions; rather, it’s there for anybody and there for the taking. Faith is something that has to be cultivated and properly taken care of until (and even after) it matures and produces great works and wonders.

We can observe that despite the close relationship Jesus had with his disciples, they (only the disciples) were not able to cast out demons that possessed a boy whose father earlier brought him to the disciples; read Mark 9:18 which states: “… and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not”.

Definition of faith

Faith can be defined as complete trust or confidence in GOD, someone or something. It can also be defined as deep belief in religious doctrines based on inner spiritual conviction rather than physical proof. Faith is usually planted firmly in the heart, and is mostly strengthened on the basis of things that can’t be seen, rather than things that can be seen.

One of my best definitions of faith that supports the previous sentence, can be seen in Hebrews 11:6 of the Christian Bible which states: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. Contrary to this definition, we can easily observe that too many people need physical proof in order to strengthen their faith, and this is not the right way to develop faith.

Faith can either be positive or negative, and can shift between extremely positive and extremely negative limits. Each person has a certain amount of faith which can become more positive or negative, depending on how they cultivate it, especially when they face the ups and downs of life. Negative faith works against people, while positive faith works in favor of people, and each person will get results in life based on their faith, or what they deeply believe in: “For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he”―Proverbs 23:7.

How strong faith can be developed

(1) By regularly cultivating quietude or stillness

One of the best foundations for developing faith and unfolding more of the subconscious mind power or spirit is stillness, or quietude which leads to calmness or composure—the ability to be composed or relaxed regardless of the challenges and anxieties experienced in life. Our almighty creator says in Psalm 46: 10―“Be still, and know that I am God …”. The lesson in this scripture is that the onus of being still or calm is on us (it rests on us), and depends a lot on how best we control our thinking and make our inner being “still” or “calm” to as great an extent as possible. One way to do this is to regularly practice quietude, composure or stillness, and seeing our challenges in a more relaxed or better perspective.

One illustration that can be practiced each day is to imagine you’re a great leader and your mind is a working place that has a lot of noisy thoughts as workers who are always obedient to your commands—even if at the moment it doesn’t appear so. (As one practices regularly, one would start to see the results when noisy thoughts become more and more controllable till they actually become quiet.) Now, whenever you’ve made up your mind to keep noisy thoughts under your control, tell these workers that work is over, and you want them to close work and keep quiet so that you can instill some sense of calm that would benefit the whole environment or mind in which they work.

When practicing this, positive results might not be seen early on, but if one consistently practices quieting their thoughts every now and then—if possible daily—especially in a quiet place, one would observe that they are gradually beginning to be more composed, able to control their thoughts more, and switch off the endless noisy thoughts that jump into their mind whenever they like. But the problem is that too many people have become so accustomed to concentrating on noisy distractible thoughts to such an extent that they have no time to cultivate qualities like quietude, stillness or composure which are strong foundations for faith in the subconscious mind or spirit.

People are too busy bothering about the next lottery, the next presidential election, the next big movie on TV, what they would like to wear the next day, etc.—and they bother to such a point that they have no time to concentrate on the things that really matter. Always remember that that every mundane daily activity is to some extent completely trivial because they won’t matter in a few days or years from now; but many years from now, it will matter to you how you cultivate stillness and quietude today.

No man or woman can successfully apply faith by harboring thoughts of worry or anxiety; yet every man and woman can use stillness, or quietude—which instills calmness—as a firm foundation for the development and stability of their faith.

It could be very harmful for those who desire to develop faith if they consistently worry and get involved in negative discussions that can make them cultivate negative faith instead of positive faith.

Why not practice for about 30 minutes every day. Practice sitting or lying down comfortably and peacefully—and remember you must stay in a way that wouldn’t make you feel discomfort on any part of your body. Let your mind become still. Remember: “Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46: 10) is one saying; another saying that’s relevant to this post is: “Be still and know that you have strong faith within”.

If you can practice making your mind free of thoughts, worries, anxieties and doubts, then you will observe that in a month’s time you’ll be more still, calm, poised, uplifted, and quite a different person. Some people are not conscious of noisy thoughts, but noisy thoughts do exist, and can negatively affect faith, emotional and mental well-being—if not properly controlled.

(2) By regularly feeding on positivity

Naturally, depending on our past experiences, background and present experiences, faith could become more positive or negative. That’s why it’s important for faith to be nourished and cultivated in much the same way as a habit. Faith must be pampered, fed and carefully looked after, when feeding on positivity or persistent positive thoughts.

Also, if we want to continue developing faith, we must always be positive and repeat or re-affirm what we believe in until we obtain faith; we must re-affirm what we believe in till our beliefs are driven into our sub-conscious minds or spirits which are the greater parts of us. The sub-conscious mind, which is shielded away from all the noise that usually occupies the conscious mind, is the greater part of us which can work with our faith to produce great results.

Keep on repeating what you believe until it becomes driven or implanted in your sub-conscious, and then you will have automatic faith. Faith is not belief. Faith is something which usually grows or diminishes with us as we age. Many of us are Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, or Jews because our parents are/were Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, or Jews.

For many of us, we believe that what our parents believed was right, so our faith developed based on what our parents believed. But sometimes this type of faith diminishes when people get older and become exposed to other more convincing types of belief—one can see the difference between faith and belief in this illustration.

No matter how difficult things might appear to be, always tell yourself that you will overcome and achieve this or that—or that you firmly believe you will do this or that. You have to keep on re-affirming it or else you might not develop great faith. Faith becomes automatic when we consistently believe in something in a positive way, again and again until it sinks into our subconscious minds.

In much the same vein, if you repeat prayers time after time, then there would come a time when you would sub-consciously start to believe in them until the day your wishes come true.

The main work lies in convincing your subconscious mind to understand and cooperate. And once you’ve implanted that belief-turned-into-faith in your subconscious mind, then you don’t have to bother anymore because your sub-conscious mind will always remind your consciousness/conscious mind that you have faith, and you can do those particular things.

Even though there are many things you don’t have sufficient faith to do today, it doesn’t mean it’s over for you for the rest of your life. Keep on telling yourself with positive words and mind pictures that you believe one day you are going to do this or that, or whatever it is you would like to do in future; then in time, you will do it/them.

All successful people, those who become exceptional researchers, millionaires and inventors are people who have faith in themselves; they have faith that they can do whatever they conceive in their minds. This is as a result of the fact that they believed in their abilities and powers first; and then by consistently believing in themselves, they generated the faith which made their initial beliefs come to pass.

If you keep on telling yourself that you are going to succeed, you will succeed; however, you will only succeed if you continue to be positive and calm, and don’t allow doubt or negativity step in and control your mind. Always declare success, and the results that will come may surprise you.

Things that affect faith—and which we should take note of

When developing faith, there are certain things that one should always take note of:

  • everybody has certain fears: some people are afraid of the dark, others are afraid of spiders or something, etc.
  • some of us might either be aware or unaware of our fears: we have fears which are in our conscious minds, but our conscious minds are only about ten per cent of our whole minds, while the remaining ninety per cent of our minds are sub-conscious. Now, the problem is that the fear in most people is in their sub-conscious minds.
  • sometimes we do things under unidentified compulsion, or we decide not to do things because of an unidentified compulsion: we don’t understand the reason why we are able to do certain things or why we are unable to do certain things. There is no reason on the surface: there is nothing that we can relate our decisions to. In fact, if we visit a psychologist, we might be surprised to find out that we have a certain fear, or are unable to do certain things because of something(s) that happened to us (coupled with other influences on our vulnerable belief systems) when we were younger.
  • the reason for fear or the inability to do certain things is usually hidden from our awareness or consciousness (conscious minds) and works against us, or nags at us from our subconscious minds in which fear been implanted by virtue of always believing in fear and thinking about it over and over.
  • negative faith, or fear doesn’t have to be conscious to be active. It is most active and uncontrollable when it is subconscious.
  • throughout our lifetimes, we have been subjected to certain experiences. A person from an Islamic background would have always believed in what they’ve been taught, or that certain things are forbidden; on the other hand, people of a different religion, with different belief systems, would have been permitted to do things not permitted in the Islamic religion.

In relation to the point highlighted above, when it comes to the issue of faith, we have to evaluate how we were brought up—our past experiences, religious and family backgrounds, etc. Everyone would agree that if we grew up with people who possessed superhuman abilities, we would have likely been influenced by them, and consistently believed in ourselves until we developed faith to display superhuman feats. The opposite would likely occur too, if we grew up with people who possessed subhuman abilities, or no ability at all.

Faith can topple an empire, and faith can build an empire as well. If you develop your faith by pampering it, guiding and controlling it, then it’s true that you can have almost anything. If you are yet to acquire faith, then you can’t obtain faith or make it work by dictating to it. It’s not possible to force faith to work because faith is like a horse: you can lead a horse to a stream to drink water but you can’t force it to drink—and so you can lead your faith by developing it gradually, but you cannot force it to appear suddenly. It needs to be developed, and it can be done.

Advice

How are you going to develop your faith? Well, it’s only a matter of practice. Think of a situation that makes you fear and then overcome it with faith by telling yourself each time that you can do it even if others can’t. Try your best, work and persuade yourself until you get your subconscious mind or spirit working on your side.

Remember that it might not happen in an hour, a day, a week or even years, but eventually it will happen: Rome was not built in a day, and doctors, professors or scientists are not made overnight. They had to consistently believe and study to succeed, and so have you. There is no other easy or painless way out!

Always practice stillness, quietude and calmness, and remember that all types of challenges and problems that interrupt our thoughts whenever we are trying to think, work or do something, will not matter in a few years’ time. They are little irritations that should be relegated to their correct status as side distractions, and nothing more.

Stillness, quietude, peace, inner composure and tranquillity are there for you if you will take time to cultivate them. All you have to do is consistently refuse to take the issues of life seriously, and always believe in yourself. Be calm, and always remember that all these challenges are minor irritations and nothing more. They were sent by nature to test you, and they certainly do!

Practice calmness and look at your difficulties in a much better perspective. It may be annoying to find that you cannot do certain things today, but it is not of earth-shaking importance after all; rather it would be more earth-shaking if you start or continue developing your faith from today.

“Science fiction” is equal to “science” plus “faith”—today’s science fiction is tomorrow’s reality

(Image credit: Pixabay.com) If one compares past records of miraculous events in religious books with many events in so-called science fiction movies, there won’t be a great deal of difference to notice between the two; this is due to the fact that all of them radiate great faith that defies natural logic.

What task could be more difficult for a writer who lived before the times of the biblical characters, Moses and Joshua, to imagine and write about, than an epic tale of the Red Sea being divided for such a long period of time that multitudes of people passed through it without getting hurt?

Or, what could be more challenging for a writer who lived in a godless and scientifically-unknowledgeable era to do than to think and write about a tale of the Sun standing still (or was it actually the Earth’s movement around the Sun that was halted?) until one nation used its enormous light to see its enemies and defeat them all?

Moreover, what task would be more difficult for a writer who lived after Moses and Joshua (but before the time of Jesus) to think about and do, than to write about a person who could walk on water, turn water into wine, feed 5,000 people with only 5 loaves of bread, and also feed 4,000 people with only 7 loaves of bread—amongst other uncountable miraculous acts?

If one compares past records of miraculous events in religious texts with many stories in so-called science fiction movies, there won’t be a great deal of difference to notice between the two; this is due to the fact that all of them radiate great faith that defies natural logic.

If one removes the GOD-factor from the events in the Bible, and plays/acts them on screen, the “miracles” from Bible stories, and the scenes in science fiction movies, could both be easily married together and placed in the same boat called “fiction”.

In most cases, over the ages, it would have been noticed that science fiction movies—which show stories of “impossibilities”—actually foretell many future possibilities and realities that have been/are being worked upon by scientists.

And in the same vein that great events in the Bible and other religious texts defied logic, so do stories of science fiction writers defy logic as well, over and over again—but a number of events in their stories/writings do turn into reality.

So there seems to be no need for any assumption that science fiction movies are aimed at driving people’s imaginations wild, and influencing them to think about events that will never happen in future.

The only difference between the realities/possibilities in Bible, and the fictions/impossibilities in science fiction movies, is that the former have materialised, while the latter are yet to materialise.

Furthermore, the similarity between the realities/possibilities in the Bible, and the fictions/impossibilities in science fiction movies, is that after some time, they all materialised, or they will all materialise—generally speaking, whatever anybody thinks about and believes in, will materialise after some time.

If anyone who is actually in their right senses, conceives and believes in anything in their heart, then thoughts about “fiction” would never arise—and all things will be/are possible.

This will be quite easy to agree with/understand if one’s thoughts are in harmony with these words of faith that were uttered by Jesus Christ more than 2,000 years ago:

“For verily I say unto you, That ‘whosoever’ shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have ‘whatsoever’ he saith”.

With this statement, coupled with the greatness of its author, it might be unfair to label all written events as fiction, especially in cases where writers or authors didn’t have any intention for their utterances to be interpreted as such.

Examples of impossible scenes people often label as “fiction” in “science fiction” movies

Yes you can see people walking through walls in science fiction (sci-fi) movies.

And even though I haven’t watched a sci-fi movie in which someone walked on water, I believe that Jesus walked on water—and that he could have walked through walls if he decided to do just that.

But anyone might state that Jesus could walk on water because he’s more powerful than everyone—he is the Son of GOD. At this junction, it would help to remind us about how powerful Jesus thinks everyone is, when he made this same statement:

“For verily I say unto you, That ‘whosoever’ shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have “whatsoever” he saith”.

Also, in sci-fi (science fiction) movies you can see people building space-ships (or star-ships) that travel faster than the speed of light.

Yet again, in sci-fi (science fiction) movies you can see people reading other people’s minds, becoming invisible, moving objects with the power of their minds, and moving their bodies at a flash from one position to another distant one.

Furthermore, you can see invisible shields, cities hanging on the skies—and a host of other events that defy logic.

Just like many people were inspired by religious texts, many scientists were inspired by science fiction and became great scientists

The great astronomer Edwin Hubble was fascinated and inspired by the prophetic and futuristic works of Jules Verne which you can read a bit about in Prophets of technology, or prophets of GOD?.

Edwin Hubble was so deeply influenced by the works of Jules Verne, that he chose a career in science after he disobeyed his father’s wishes and abandoned a promising career in law—eventually, he became the greatest astronomer of the 20th century.

Carl Sagan, a recognized astronomer and bestselling author who got inspired to work in space science after reading Edgar Rice Burroughs’s “John Carter of Mars” novels—and like John Carter, Sagan dreamt of exploring not only Mars, but Venus as well.

A couple of other scientists drew inspiration from the lives of more than one individual writer.

Conclusion

If people have gotten so acquainted with miraculous tales in the Bible and other religious/spiritual texts, that they can’t notice that a bit of fiction might have existed before the great events recorded in the texts occurred, then there will continue to be a general notion that “science fiction” movies are just “fiction”, and will always remain false/fake.

By assuming every thought or written word is “fiction”, we could end up limiting ourselves if we’re really interested in achieving impossibilities, or making the impossible become possible.

As much as the GOD-factor is important in life, one has to add faith to the reality or science they believe in; whether any addition ends up producing results that could make people call it fiction or not, is another food for thought for another day.

In order to embrace the lifestyle of those who believe in impossibilities, people would have to grow up and look at fiction from a more positive perspective—regardless of profession and beliefs.

To make this easier, the practical things of life can be combined with having faith in a greater future.

We live in a world that doesn’t give us too many ideas on how to face the challenges of tomorrow which come in a number and variety of forms, shapes and sizes. Many people live through the day and sleep at night thinking about how they can make their living conditions better.

Every day we are haunted with questions about how we are going to handle one worrying thought, or approach another worrying problem. Good enough, one of the greatest businesses of life lies in thinking and having faith in one’s self and the future.

If we have sufficient faith in ourselves, then we can control our thoughts to a great extent and be well on the way to controlling most of our circumstances. Faith is the superpower that helps people handle the positives and negatives that everyday’s gifts and challenges bring: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”—Hebrews 11:1 of the Holy Bible.

Just take a look around you and you will see men and women who, after years of hopelessly struggling, suddenly acquire untold wealth or materialize their most cherished dreams. Faith turned their dreams into reality, gave new life to their dying ambitions, and put them on the road to success.

Faith—deep belief—is a superpower that is usually inspired by someone or something; it always inspires certain people to turn defeats into successes and victories.

The shield of faith

Regardless of what people think regarding faith, one undeniable fact is that daily doses of positivity create a strong shield of faith against thoughts that tend to make us forget we have a hidden but strong dominant power sleeping deep within us.

GOD has entitled us to every good thing. Therefore, we should learn how to get used to expecting good things regardless of any situation at hand—we should expect nothing but good.

Victory doesn’t have to be followed by shaky thoughts of defeat: victory should follow victory. And how can we ensure that? By always feeding ourselves with positive thoughts, and having unshakeable faith in ourselves.

Remember that the shield of faith always has the ability to halt the effects of the negative thoughts that develop limitations against us. Limitations are as a result of accumulating negative thoughts for days, months, or even years.

We do not have to allow negative thinking bring any limitation on our lives. Remember that once acquired, the shield of faith will always dispel negativity and attract every good thing for us—it will move mountains for us.

There is every reason for you to understand that you are entitled to the everlasting generosity of GOD. Every substance and product people have used or created out of nature’s supply of abundance, depends on the purity of positive thought or positive thinking.

Developing the shield of faith

When it comes to developing the shield of faith, the problem most people have is that they are not mentally strong; in fact, many people are mentally lazy. It is much easier for most people to follow the crowd rather than break free from them and follow a path that can be really beneficial on a long-term basis.

The greatest geniuses, discoverers, and inventors in all fields of life have been men and women who dared to break away from the traditional and normal routes of the common masses; they believed that there is no limit to what their minds can do; they stuck to their beliefs until they achieved their goals—even in the face of ridicule and criticism.

In addition, they never felt that they achieved everything after achieving just one success, or a few successes. There first successes and relentless persistence only made further successes materialize much more easily.

Continuously successful people know some things many people didn’t and don’t know: they have realized that they are part of a universe filled with abundance, and that the Earth as a part of it, shares the same properties as the whole universe from which they can acquire any right and thing.

Successful people know that the only threatening limitation is the inability to think and work towards the things that are desired; because of their faith, each step they made, regardless of circumstances, propelled them forward and upward ever—and they just kept on going, on, and on, and on. For instance, Edison didn’t just think about electric light, sit back/down and fold his arms. He thought about it many times over, and took many steps before finally inventing it.

William James, a famous psychologist, once stated: “The more mind does, the more it can do”. So we must keep looking and moving forward in order to continuously do more! Faith strengthens the ideas that release energy and makes people do much more than they ever did before. Actually, we can know and achieve more than we have ever known or achieved in the past.

Conclusion

Get up, stretch your mind beyond the usual extent; understand the superpower called faith; practice and get your own share of the unlimited supply which is available in nature.

There are unlimited ways through which the abundance of nature—GOD’s generosity—can get to you once you have sufficient faith. Don’t think that there are only one or few channels through which nature can send gifts to you. There are uncountable and unlimited channels.

Your job is to believe and have faith to the extent that your good desires are impressed on your whole mind—especially the subconscious mind. As you do this, you will develop the right mental attitude that will always expect and attract good things.

And the right mental attitude doesn’t fail; it only fails if we allow worry, fear, negativity and laziness conquer our minds. “According to your faith, be it done unto you”—the words of Jesus Christ.

2. Faith: still strong enough to alter today’s facts

If people have been altering facts, then faith can still alter today’s facts. Achieving greatness shouldn’t be guided only by what can be seen or sighted; it should go beyond that, and be governed more by what can’t be seen—the unseen: faith.

Even GOD’s word hinted in 2nd Corinthians 5:7: “For we walk by faith, not by sight”. Faith is rooted in the spiritual, while facts are more rooted in the physical; faith is superior to fact, and stronger than it! Fact is temporal and changeable, while faith is eternal and unchangeable.

Even history has shown that fact can become untrue. Decades ago it was considered a fact that malaria had no cure; in fact many people died because of it. However, that is no longer the case today.

In the past, it was considered a fact that iron/steel could neither fly in air, nor float on water; but today large quantities of iron/steel are flying in the form of aircraft. Also, large quantities of iron/steel are floating in the form of ships from one part of the world to another—carrying people and cargo anywhere they wish.

In the same vein, it was once believed in the past that mankind would never be able to set foot on the moon, but someone first did it! In the past there were no drugs for treatment of many diseases; however, there are so many drugs for treatment of many diseases today.

As it happens in every generation, it will continue to happen again and again: people of faith will discover many things and change many facts. Always remember this: if people and time have been altering facts, then faith can still alter today’s facts!

3. Your Outcome in Life Is Determined By What You Believe in: Faith or Fact

In the Christian Bible, 2nd Corinthians 5:7 says: “For we walk by faith: not by sight”. The literal meaning of the above scripture is that we are meant to live our lives, have high hopes, and carry out actions on the basis of faith, which can be referred to as “the ultimate and unseen reality”. Having the heart to achieve things in life shouldn’t be governed only by the things we see with your physical eyes; it should go beyond that and be governed more by the things we cannot see physically—the unseen.

Faith, which can be referred to as “the ultimate truth”, belongs to the spiritual world, while “facts” are only limited to the physical world which we see with our physical eyes. Faith is superior to, and stronger than fact! Fact is temporal and changeable, but faith (ultimate truth) is eternal and unchangeable.

Even history has shown that fact can become untrue, even without divine or supernatural intervention. For example, it was a fact several years ago that malaria had no cure, and many people died because of it; but that is no longer the case today.

In the past, it was considered a fact that iron could neither fly nor float: but today, heavy tons of iron (in steel form) are floating and flying from one part of the world to the other in the form of ships and aircrafts, carrying both people and cargo wherever they wish to go to. In the past, there were no drugs for the cure of several diseases, but today there are so many types of drugs and cures for various types of ailments.

So, if time can alter fact, how much more will your faith instantly destroy many of the things that are considered as fact today! Despise all facts, and rather believe in faith or “the ultimate truth”. Your physical experiences and that of other people should not guide your life’s journey. Believe in the ultimate truth about the supernatural ability that GOD gave man to turn unfavorable circumstances into favorable ones. Allow your faith and belief to guide you towards your GOD-given destiny.

The scripture in Romans 10:17, the Christian Bible says: “The just shall live by faith”. This faith is based on how GOD sees ease and solutions to every situation and difficulty in this physical world. The scripture didn’t say that the just shall live by experience, night dreams, personal wisdom, skill or expertise! It said that the just shall live by faith!

Many people elevate their experiences, personal wisdom and skills above faith, ultimate truth and belief in the power of GOD to an extent that they constantly live in the realm of frustration and dissatisfaction. We have stated that faith (the ultimate truth) is superior to fact, and a lot of people know that the real battle of a man lies between fact and faith (ultimate truth). What is the difference between them?

Well, fact is a natural reality which has evidence only to the physical senses, and in the physical plane of existence; i.e. you can see, hear, feel, smell or touch it. On the other hand, faith (or ultimate truth) is supernatural or spiritual reality; and this reality is not always obvious to the body’s physical senses, i.e. you might not be able to sense faith physically, but it’s real.

Based on some people’s so-called “facts”, experience and expertise, there is/might not be any hope; but faith (the ultimate truth) says: “launch out your heart with hope”; and in many instances where faith was strong, the ultimate truth prevailed. Allow the truth to prevail in your life!

4. The Reality of Invisible Worlds & Life: Physical & Spiritual

It’s a bit shocking that in the midst of all the astonishing scientific and technological knowledge that has been discovered/invented over the ages, confusion and disbelief still abound regarding the existence of other invisible or inaccessible parts of creation; there is also uncertainty as to whether human souls live or exist before and after physical death.

Science and technology, which have helped in revealing that a lot of infinitesimal living things and particles that were once considered to be invisible, have both played a huge part in proving that everything, seen and unseen, is really alive—I mean REALLY ALIVE, and alive to such an extent that even people who don’t believe in the invisible or “spiritual” life seem to be drawn or gradually drawing away from the abyss of their disbelief in invisibility or spirituality.

In the present-day, nothing seems to be “that dead” or completely inexistent. Advances in science and technology have even made science-practicing atheists and other non-believers in GOD/spirituality have a rethink over their convictions which deny the existence of GOD and the spiritual and greater part of creation.

For thousands of years, many religious leaders, believers in GOD, spiritualists and spiritual mediums have always sounded it out, wide and loud, that all the things we see with our physical eyes are simply the result of invisible or spiritual life which has its roots in the Almighty GOD; and they seem to have been right all along before the age of scientific and technological advancement started proving this belief bit by bit.

It would do the world a lot of good if mankind could “harmonize” the “visible” life (here on Earth) with the invisible life (in the spiritual sphere) by cooperating with or properly using the spiritual power given by GOD; a power which continues to permeate through all creation in its seen and unseen parts.

Evidences of invisible life

Countless instances have proven how greatly limited the capability of man’s physical eyes and brain are to see and perceive, respectively. The brain, like the physical body is limited to this physical world’s space and time, and is not naturally able to see things beyond these limits. The human eyes are not even capable of seeing many “physical” things clearly.

Take a look at a drop of water: in many instances, it looks neat, clean and free from stain and blemish; but when viewed through magnifying lenses, the same water has been proven to contain millions of living organisms fighting and destroying each another.

Are there not innumerable bacilli in water and soil that have been found capable of causing lots of harm and destruction to human and animal bodies? Are bacilli not invisible to the unaided human eyes? Are there not energetic atoms and molecules in constant motion even though they are invisible to the human eyes?

However, these atoms and molecules immediately become visible when certain substances are viewed under magnifying glasses. Who would be able to state that nothing new will be discovered or seen after existing physical equipments are further improved upon?

Everyone would agree that if physical equipments are improved upon by 100-fold or 100,000-fold, other objects much smaller than bacilli and atoms of elements would also multiply in size and become viewable. More unseen worlds would become visible and unfold before the naked human eyes; even time travel, which has remained in the domain of fiction, could become a natural reality, and be pushed into the domain of non-fiction.

Logically, it can be inferred that the discovery of more unseen objects and worlds by science and technology would continue until “mysterious” or “spiritual” things become natural to mankind.

The reality of a spiritual world, and life after death

If we believe in the possibility of the invisible or spiritual world continuously unfolding before the eyes of mankind, we might want to ask: what is the next world or next life to come? What is life after physical death? Many people seem to be confused when they hear: “the next world”.

“The next world” can be regarded as the world that any person meets after death; or, it could be used to refer to physical and spiritual objects or life that can’t be seen or perceived by the human brain, ears, eyes and other senses that belong to our physical bodies.

The next world is beyond the detection of our physical senses. From the perspective of viewing bacilli, atoms and molecules—without considering many other forms of “life”—we would readily agree that there is no “cloak” or “wall” dividing this physical world and the unseen/spiritual world: there is no gulf.

All of creation and everything in it is interwoven and unified. There is nothing like “this world” and “that world”; rather, there is one uniform existence just like it was in the days when GOD seemed to converse more often with mankind than in the present age.

The concept of “this world” and “that world” or “the next world” arose, probably due to mankind’s inability to see everything that is visible and invisible. Probably this might be due to the fact that man looks upon himself as the center of importance in all creation, and also because he cannot see invisible organisms, invisible atoms, invisible angels, invisible nature spirits, invisible devils, invisible heavens, etc.

Invisible organisms and atoms were revealed by science, while angels, spirits and demons have been perceived by laypeople who have very sharp and refined sharp spiritual senses.

In holding a wrong perception of the invisible world, it can be rightly assumed that mankind has forcibly hindered its own spiritual progress. We would likely be on a better eternal path if we look at the different parts of creation (seen and unseen) as a single unit, and not try to draw a distinction between “this world” and “the next world”.

5. How to develop strong faith

Although faith in GOD is the greatest type of faith everyone should aspire to and acquire, faith in one’s self is very important and necessary in many areas of life. And to those who think developing faith in one’s self is wrong or bad, the best reply I’ll give is the one my greatest role model Jesus Christ gave his—then—faithless disciples who couldn’t heal a boy that was possessed by an unclean spirit; Mark 9:23 states: “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”.

Good enough, faith is not a respecter of persons or religions; rather, it’s there for anybody, and there for the taking! Faith is something that has to be cultivated and properly taken care of until (and even after) it matures and produces great works and wonders.

We can observe that despite the close relationship Jesus had with his disciples, they (only the disciples) were not able to cast out the demons that possessed a boy whose father previously brought him to the disciples; Mark 9:18 states: “… and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not”.

Definition of faith

Faith can be defined as complete trust or confidence in GOD, someone, or something. It can also be defined as deep belief in religious doctrines based on inner spiritual conviction rather than physical proof. Faith is usually planted firmly in the heart, and is mostly strengthened on the basis of things that can’t be seen, rather than things that can be seen.

One of my best definitions of faith that supports the previous sentence can be seen in Hebrews 11:6 of the Christian Bible which states: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. Contrary to this definition, we can easily observe that too many people need physical proof in order to strengthen their faith; this is not the right way to develop faith.

Faith can either be positive or negative, and can shift between extremely positive and extremely negative limits. Each person has a certain amount of faith which can become more positive or negative, depending on how they cultivate it, and especially when they face the ups and downs of life.

Negative faith works against people, while positive faith works in favor of people. Each person will get results in life based on their faith, or what they deeply believe in: “For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he”―Proverbs 23:7.

How strong faith can be developed

(1) By regularly cultivating quietude or stillness

One of the best foundations for developing faith and unfolding more of the subconscious mind power or spirit is stillness, or quietude which leads to calmness or composure—the ability to be composed or relaxed regardless of the challenges and anxieties experienced in life.

Our almighty creator says in Psalm 46: 10―“Be still, and know that I am GOD…”. The lesson in this scripture is that the onus of being still or calm is on us (it rests on us), and depends a lot on how best we control our thinking and make our inner being “still” or “calm” to as great an extent as possible. One way to do this is to regularly practice quietude, composure or stillness, and seeing our challenges in a more relaxed or better perspective.

One illustration that can be practiced each day is to imagine you’re a great leader and your mind is a working place that has a lot of noisy thoughts as workers who are always obedient to your commands—even if at the moment it doesn’t appear so. (As one practices regularly, one would start to see the results when noisy thoughts become more and more controllable until they actually become quiet.)

Now, whenever you’ve made up your mind to keep noisy thoughts under your control, tell these workers that work is over, and you want them to close work and keep quiet so that you can instill some sense of calm that would benefit the whole environment or mind in which they work.

When practicing this, positive results might not be seen early on, but if one consistently practices quieting their thoughts every now and then—if possible daily—especially in a quiet place, then one would observe that they are gradually beginning to be more composed, able to control their thoughts more, and switch off the endless noisy thoughts that jump into their mind whenever they like. But the problem is that too many people have become so accustomed to concentrating on noisy distractible thoughts to such an extent that they have no time to cultivate qualities like quietude, stillness or composure which are strong foundations for faith in the subconscious mind or spirit.

People are too busy bothering about the next lottery, the next presidential election, the next big movie on TV, what they would like to wear the next day, etc.—and they bother about these things to such a point that they have no time to concentrate on the things that really matter. Always remember that that every daily mundane activity is to some extent completely trivial because they won’t matter in a few days or years from today; but many years from today, it will matter to you how you cultivate stillness and quietude today and the coming days.

No man or woman can successfully apply faith by harboring thoughts of worry or anxiety; yet every man and woman can use stillness, or quietude—which instills calmness—as a firm foundation for the development and stability of their faith.

It could be very harmful for those who desire to develop faith if they consistently worry and get involved in negative discussions that can make them cultivate negative faith instead of positive faith.

Why not practice for about 30 minutes every day. Practice sitting or lying down comfortably and peacefully—and remember you must stay in a way that wouldn’t make you feel discomfort in any part of your body. Let your mind become still. Remember: “Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46: 10) is one saying; another saying that’s relevant to this post is: “Be still and know that you have strong faith within”.

If you can practice making your mind free of thoughts, worries, anxieties and doubts, then you will observe that in a month’s time you’ll be more still, calm, poised, uplifted, and quite a different person. Some people are not conscious of noisy thoughts, but noisy thoughts do exist, and can negatively affect faith, emotional and mental well-being—if not properly controlled.

(2) By regularly feeding on positivity

Naturally, depending on our past experiences, background and present experiences, faith could become more positive or negative. That’s why it’s important for faith to be nourished and cultivated in much the same way as a habit. Faith must be pampered, fed and carefully looked after, when feeding on positivity or persistent positive thoughts.

Also, if we want to continue developing faith, we must always be positive and repeat or re-affirm what we believe in until we obtain faith; we must re-affirm what we believe in until our beliefs are driven into our sub-conscious minds or spirits which are the greater parts of us. The sub-conscious mind, which is shielded away from all the noise that usually occupies the conscious mind, is the greater part of us which can work with our faith to produce great results.

Keep on repeating what you believe until it becomes driven or implanted in your sub-conscious mind, and then you will have automatic faith. Faith is not belief. Faith is something which usually grows or diminishes with us as we age. Many of us are Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, or Jews because our parents are/were Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, or Jews.

For many of us, we believe that what our parents believed was right, so our faith developed based on what our parents believed. But sometimes this type of faith diminishes when people get older and become exposed to other more convincing types of belief—one can see the difference between faith and belief in this illustration.

No matter how difficult things might appear to be, always tell yourself that you will overcome and achieve this or that—or that you firmly believe you will do this or that. You have to keep on re-affirming it or else you might not develop great faith. Faith becomes automatic when we consistently believe in something in a positive way, again and again until it sinks into our subconscious minds.

In much the same vein, if you repeat prayers time after time, then there would come a time when you would sub-consciously start to believe in them until the day your wishes come true.

The main work lies in convincing your subconscious mind to understand and cooperate. And once you’ve implanted that belief-turned-into-faith in your subconscious mind, then you don’t have to bother anymore because your sub-conscious mind will always remind your consciousness/conscious mind that you have faith, and you can do some particular things.

Even though there are many things you don’t have sufficient faith to do today, it doesn’t mean it’s over for you for the rest of your life. Keep on telling yourself with positive words and mind pictures that you believe one day you are going to do this or that, or whatever it is you would like to do in future; then in time, you will do it/them.

All successful people, and those who become exceptional researchers, millionaires and inventors are people who have faith in themselves; they have faith that they can do whatever they conceive in their minds. This is as a result of the fact that they believed in their abilities and powers first; and then by consistently believing in themselves, they generated the faith which made their initial beliefs come to pass.

If you keep on telling yourself that you are going to succeed, you will succeed; however, you will only succeed if you continue to be positive and calm, and don’t allow doubt or negativity step in and control your mind. Always declare success, and the results that will come may surprise you.

Certain things that can affect faith

When developing faith, there are certain things that one should always take note of:

  • everybody has certain fears: some people are afraid of the dark, others are afraid of spiders or something, etc.
  • some of us might either be aware or unaware of our fears: we have fears which are in our conscious minds, but our conscious minds are only about ten per cent of our whole minds, while the remaining ninety per cent of our minds are sub-conscious. Now, the problem is that the fear in most people is in their sub-conscious minds.
  • sometimes we do things under unidentified compulsion, or we decide not to do things because of an unidentified compulsion: we don’t understand the reason why we are able to do certain things or why we are unable to do certain things. There is no reason on the surface: there is nothing that we can relate our decisions to. In fact, if we visit a psychologist, we might be surprised to find out that we have a certain fear, or are unable to do certain things because of something(s) that happened to us (coupled with other influences on our vulnerable belief systems) when we were younger.
  • the reason for fear or the inability to do certain things is usually hidden from our awareness or consciousness (conscious minds) and works against us, or nags at us from our subconscious minds in which fear been implanted by virtue of always believing in fear and thinking about it over and over.
  • negative faith, or fear doesn’t have to be conscious to be active. It is most active and uncontrollable when it is subconscious.
  • throughout our lifetimes, we have been subjected to certain experiences. A person from an Islamic background would have always believed in what they’ve been taught, or that certain things are forbidden; on the other hand, people of a different religion, with different belief systems, would have been permitted to do things not permitted in the Islamic religion.

In relation to the point highlighted above, when it comes to the issue of faith, we have to evaluate how we were brought up—our past experiences, religious and family backgrounds, etc. Everyone would agree that if we grew up with people who possess superhuman abilities, we would have likely been influenced by them, and consistently believed in ourselves until we developed faith to display superhuman feats. The opposite would likely occur too, if we grew up with people who possessed subhuman abilities, or no ability at all.

Faith can topple an empire, and faith can build an empire as well. If you develop your faith by pampering it, guiding and controlling it, then it’s true that you can have almost anything. If you are yet to acquire faith, then you can’t obtain faith or make it work by dictating to it.

It’s not possible to force faith to work because faith is like a horse: you can lead a horse to a stream to drink water, but you can’t force it to drink—and so you can lead your faith by developing it gradually, but you cannot force it to appear suddenly. It needs to be developed, and it can be done.

Advice

How are you going to develop your faith? Well, it’s only a matter of practice. Think of a situation that makes you fear and then overcome it with faith by telling yourself each time that you can do it even if others can’t. Try your best, work and persuade yourself until you get your subconscious mind or spirit working on your side.

Remember that it might not happen in an hour, a day, a week or even years, but eventually it will happen: Rome was not built in a day; doctors, professors or scientists are not made overnight. They had to consistently believe and study to succeed, and so have you. There is no other easy or painless way out!

Always practice stillness, quietude and calmness, and remember that all types of challenges and problems that interrupt our thoughts whenever we are trying to think, work or do something, will not matter in a few years’ time. They are little irritations that should be relegated to their correct status as side distractions, and nothing more.

Stillness, quietude, peace, inner composure and tranquillity are there for you if you will take time to cultivate them. All you have to do is consistently refuse to take the issues of life seriously, and always believe in yourself. Be calm, and always remember that all these challenges are minor irritations and nothing more. They were sent by nature to test you, and they certainly do!

Practice calmness and look at your difficulties in a much better perspective. It may be annoying to find that you cannot do certain things today, but it is not of earth-shaking importance after all; rather it would be more earth-shaking if you start or continue developing your faith from today.

6. How to influence your mind to attract your desires and a glorious afterlife

As the years have been passing by, I’ve been acquiring most of the things I ever desired. By taking a look at the past, it’s obvious that positive thinking has been helpful in influencing my mind to attract the things I desired/desire; today, it still influences my mind to attract the things I still desire.

From personal experience, I can boldly say that the human mind operates in a way that follows a sensible pattern which is void of any form of mystery. There is nothing mystical about the powerful influence our minds have on other people and the environment around us. Read ahead in order to see things from my own angle: how capable each human mind is in making an influence that will attract or dispel the thing(s) it desires.

Although I admit that our experiences are different, value will be found in this chapter; it will enable you to tweak your mind in order to achieve better results in terms of attracting what you want.

Have a good intention to acquire what you desire

The quest for material things should go hand in hand with a desire to weigh the spiritual value inherent in acquiring them. In this regard, I advise people to acquire material things based on spiritual values which are capable of outlasting all the material thing(s) they wish to acquire.

It’s not a bad idea to become excessively rich, but it would be a delusion to become rich and lose spiritual or immaterial values like love, peace, soundness of mind, humility, etc. It has to be noted that our stay on Earth is temporary; therefore, strive for spiritual values by showing kindness, consideration and understanding for others, instead of becoming a thief or murderer; a slanderer or a blackmailer; a liar or a rapist; etc.

When you look for spiritual values while pursuing material things, the universe and nature will always support you, even when surrounding conditions are unfavorable. From experience and observation, there are certain important steps we should follow:

Decide what you want

You must decide exactly what you want; you must visualize or conceive it in your mind. What is it that you actually want? It might not be enough for you to say you want a lot of money, a lot of cars, a lot of houses, etc. You will get far better results if you describe “in detail” what you want.

For example, if you want a new car, then you must state other things about the car: the model of the car, the engine-type (automatic or manual), the color of the car, etc. The point is this: you must state extra things that will give your mind a firm image and “strong” impression that can influence it to attract what you desire during the time you are waiting for/expecting your desire to materialize.

After creating a clear thought about what you want, frequently picture it in your mind, and always hold that picture firmly.

Give unto others so that you will be easier for you to receive

After deciding what you want, go to the next stage: GIVE so that you can receive. If you make up your mind to give, then how much are you willing to give? If you desire to acquire a particular amount of money, are you prepared to help other people with a tithe, which is the same thing as a tenth of that money? Do you have a heart to assist other people who are not as lucky/fortunate as you are?

It might sound vain to say that you will give a tithe after you get money. Make it a habit to give out money, services, or any form of assistance to those who are in need. In so doing, you will be placing yourself in a favorable position, and influencing your mind to cooperate with the universal laws of giving/receiving—in order to attract your desire(s).

Make it a habit to always practice visualizing what you want

After you’ve made a decision on what you want—to get a promotion, to get a million dollars, to become an orator, to win a lottery, or whatever it is—then consistently visualize what you want. Let’s say you’ve decided you want a new car, then decide the type of car you want: the brand of the car, the color of the car, the passenger-carrying capacity of the car, etc.

Next, use a few minutes each day to relax both mind and body; immediately thereafter, use some extra minutes (ten or twenty) to visualize yourself in the car as if you already have it—there and then. Do not think of the car as something you might have, or could have, even though you know you don’t have it at the moment. Visualize yourself having the car.

As you visualize and always create a mental picture of it, it will become a blueprint that will be influential in attracting your desire(s). Create a thought that you can continuously pour energy into in order to strengthen it until it becomes reality. If leadership skills, power, courage and influence are what you desire, add them to the picture. After frequently visualizing your desires in your mind, you will observe that you won’t have any doubt(s) that you are going to acquire them.

It must be noted that visualization can be difficult if it’s something that’s new to you! Difficulties can arise because your mind hasn’t gotten used to producing sharp pictures of the things you desire; do not bother about this. The pictures you conceive do not have to be perfect in terms of having all the traits (qualities) of the things you desire. If you discipline your mind and make it a habit to regularly visualize what you want, your mind will eventually start to believe in the visualizations and produce amazing mental pictures for you to easily choose from.

Results will be obvious if you always live the thoughts of your desires in your mind, again and again and again, for a long period—say weeks, months, or even years. Whenever doubts arise, do not be discouraged; just continue to repeat your visualizations and positive elements will naturally color the whole process until you physically acquire your desire(s).

Keep on repeating your visualizations and everything will quite naturally look after itself. Don’t bother too much about what will happen; just have faith in the process of visualization and the right things will happen at the right time. As you visualize, FEEL that the money, car, or whatever you desire, is coming to you; the more positive you are about it, the faster the reaction will be.

If you follow these steps, the thoughts of your desires will be driven into the subconscious part of your whole mind, which is ninety percent of it, and nine times more powerful than your conscious mind which you use much more consciously and frequently every day. After a good period of time, your subconscious mind—which is the platform for signs and wonders—will miraculously materialize your desires.

There are things that are much more valuable than money, cars, skyscrapers, and all types of wonderful material things. If you are wise, instead of using all your effort to strive and acquire an excessive number of material things, go the other way: rather strive to acquire spiritual values like Jesus, Buddha, Martin Luther, and other great people or leaders whose auras positively influenced the eternal destinies of millions and millions of people.

Desire to acquire abilities and virtues that will outlast your short earthly life and be of profitable use to you when you leave this world. Hammer this thought into your mind: no one has ever succeeded in taking a single penny or dollar into the next world; the more material things you strive to acquire, the more material things you will leave behind.

On the other hand, the more you help other people by doing good, the more blessings and spirituality you will carry along with you into the next life—after you leave this world. It is quite unfortunate that in the present age many people think that the most important thing in life is to acquire excessive amounts of money and other forms of material things. It is not possible to help others too much; and when you help others, you indirectly attract physical and spiritual blessings to yourself.

A lot of people in the world are in desperate need of help; choose to visualize and acquire material things in order to serve your fellow human beings. After this short earthly life, there is an everlasting spiritual life in which goodness and spirituality are the currencies in use, while the present-day money and material things are like the dust of this Earth. The choice is yours to make!

7. There is magic in positive thinking—always think positively!

It is widely believed that the unseen hands of fate influence the outcomes of many activities in our lives. On the other hand, positive thinking influences many outcomes too—it often goes to the greatest extent imaginable.

We have been informed by positive thinking books—and even the most popular religious book—that people’s outcomes are products of their thoughts—“as you think, so you are”. This saying has been proven by fact that two or more people with the same opportunities, produce different results. In certain instances, one or few people produce multiple times of the amount other people produce.

It won’t be difficult to see a connection between many results in real life, and the statements related to thinking, as contained in a number of books. Generally speaking, history has proven that the size of one’s happiness and general fulfilment depends a lot on the size of one’s positive thinking—there is magic in positive thinking.

If positive thinking is effective, why can’t everybody do it?

Much of our thinking is either little, or big; negative, or positive; or a mixture of two or more types of thinking. And results could be either extremely positive, extremely negative, or anything in between.

We are surrounded by environments that always attempt to pull us down—and if possible, tear us to pieces. Here and there, we are reminded that opportunities do not exist; and so we should be contented with staying in any available little position—this is a statement that is far away from the truth.

We are told that “whatever will be, will be”; that our destiny is out of our control: we are told that fate is in complete control. So we feed on all this, and gradually begin to forget about our most cherished dreams; finally, we choose to open our arms, lie down and wait for our day of exit from this world.

The society tells us there is too much competition at the top positions of life; and so we dare not waste any effort to attain to them.

Is there evidence that positive thinking is effective?

Is there any proof that positive thinking is effective?—Fair question. Proof comes from real life experiences of people around us, who, despite experiencing various degrees of ups and downs in life, achieved great success because they maintained a consistent positive attitude.

The theories about positive thinking have been tried, tested, and found to work wonders in many life situations. Don’t get it wrong: positive thinking could still encounter challenges and problems—but it will still lead anyone to experience the reality behind the popular statement that “all things work together for good”.

It is a great quality to have the desire to be successful. In order to build a successful life, we need the tool called “positive thinking”. Many of us read or come across positive statements and literature every day; but seconds after reading them, we lose the feeling of their real latent power.

In order to maintain and develop the power of positive thoughts and words, we need to be consistent in our positive thinking, which will be very effective if we drive it with consistency. Remember the saying: “As a man thinks”; not: “as a man thought” or “as a man used to think”; but rather: “as a man thinks”—consistency!

8. Past events that disproved the impossible: one person’s impossibility is another person’s possibility

In many areas of life, the study of things that were deemed “impossible”, actually opened up completely unexpected domains in many human endeavors—especially in science and technology.

Many events in recorded history have proven that what one person thought was “impossible”, was often regarded by another person as a “possibility”—actually, one person’s food is another person’s poison!

Past events that illustrate how people who studied the impossible, changed the course of world

It is sad to note that there were times in the past when certain reputable media outlets, professional bodies and scientists lacked positivity and belief, and declared that a number of scientific and technological ideas were hopelessly impossible:

(1) The New York Times

During the 1920s and 1930s, Robert Goddard, who has been regarded as the founder of modern design & operation, was severely criticized by people who believed that rockets would never travel in space—in fact, they disdainfully called his pursuit “Goddard’s Folly”.

An unforgettable incident occurred in 1921 when the then editors of “The New York Times” made a disgraceful statement against Dr. Goddard’s work: “Professor Goddard does not know the relation between action and reaction and the need to have something better than a vacuum against which to react. He seems to lack the basic knowledge ladled out daily in high schools”.

The editors believed it would be impossible to send rockets into space because there would be no air in space for rockets to push against. Unfortunately for the unbelieving editors, there statements have been found to be misguided and worthless for over several decades after they made unfair criticisms and utterances.

(2) Nineteenth century chemists

Chemists of the nineteenth century popularly declared that it would be impossible to find a substance—popularly known as “the philosopher’s stone”—that could turn lead into gold.

Back then, 19th century chemistry was based on the fundamental immutability of elements such as lead; fast forward to this generation and see the big difference because lead atoms can now be turned into gold.

(3) Lord Kelvin

Lord Kelvin, who is widely regarded as a prominent physicist, declared that “heavier-than-air” devices such as aircraft, would not be able to fly; also, he assumed that X-rays were deceptive, a hoax, and that the idea of the “radio” would be fruitless and without a future. It’s surprising to witness how much time has passed by, and yet all the things Kelvin thought were impossible, have become possible, and continue to remain so till date.

At the end of the 19th century, most scientists thought it was impossible for the Earth to be up to a billion years old. Lord Kelvin widely declared that molten Earth would take between 20 to 40 million years to cool down; his statement contradicted that of geologists/Darwinian biologists who claimed that the Earth could be up to a billion years old.

Finally, the impossible was proven to be possible after the discovery of nuclear force by Madame Curie and other scientists showed that if the center of the Earth is heated via radioactive decay, it could be kept in a molten state for billions of years—which the Earth’s age actually is.

(4) Albert Einstein

Initially, in the 1930s, Albert Einstein believed it would be impossible to make an atomic bomb.

Atomic physicists had already known that there was an appreciable quantity of energy located deep within nuclei—in accordance with Einstein’s equation, E = mc2; however, they wrongly assumed that the energy in each nucleus was too insignificant to use in making an atomic bomb.

On the other hand, atomic physicist Leo Szilard remembered H. G. Wells prediction in a 1914 novel titled “The World Set Free”, in which Wells predicted the development of the atomic bomb. According to the book, Wells believed that the secret behind the atomic bomb would be discovered by a physicist in 1933.

Fortunately for Szilard, after he came across Well’s book in 1932, it inspired him to develop an idea in 1933 by magnifying the power of a single atom through a chain reaction so that the energy generated from splitting a single uranium nucleus could be magnified trillions of times, and employed in making the atomic bomb.

Szilard conducted more experiments and held secret negotiations with Einstein and the then American President Franklin Roosevelt; this led to “The Manhattan Project” which was used to build the atomic bomb.

“Black holes” were once regarded as “science fiction”. In fact, Einstein wrote a paper in 1939 which “proved” that it would be impossible for black holes to be formed; yet, in the present-day, the Hubble Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray telescope have proven the existence of thousands of black holes in outer space.

(5) Stephen Hawking

The great cosmologist Stephen Hawking tried to discover a new law of physics that would prove that time travel is impossible; he called his idea “chronology protection conjecture”.

Unfortunately, after many years of research, he was unable to disprove time travel. In fact, contrary to his idea, physicists have demonstrated that a law which would prevent time travel is beyond present-day reality.

And because there is no law that can prevent the existence of time machines, physicists see the possibility to create time machines and do time travel in the near future.

Observation

Each person has the power to believe in all types of possibilities and not be affected by the negative beliefs and influences of faithless reputable media outlets, professional bodies, people, and even great scientists.

Conclusion

Knowledge is power: the reason why certain technologies were deemed impossible was due to the obvious fact that some basic laws of natural science were unknown; this created huge gaps in the understanding of science back in the day—no wonder many scientific and technological ideas were considered impossible.

Throughout history, time and time again, people who studied things that were deemed “impossible”, stretched and broadened the boundaries of science and life, and inspired other scientists to believe that anything is “possible”.

The ideas and technologies that are regarded as “impossible” in the present-day, will become possible in a few years, decades, or centuries into the future.

9. How to turn defeat into victory by experimenting with different things

Defeat is experienced by people from different backgrounds, age groups, religious faiths, levels of education, etc. Some people who have experienced defeat are surprisingly young, while others are older, or old. Still yet, others have little or no education.

However, they all have one thing in common: they have experienced defeat, with or without previously experiencing victory. Each one of them has encountered situations they couldn’t conquer, and many of them were eager and anxious for people to hear them out, and help if possible.

This has been the experience of many across the world. It is quite unfortunate that some people have even lost all they have, and have no other place to go, or person to depend on than Mother Nature.

Look away from defeat at the bottom of the ladder, and towards victory up the top of the ladder

If we take away our eyes from the experience of people who have been defeated, and move them up a bit towards those who—despite their defeat—continued to have faith and be positive, and ended up turning defeats into victories by trying/experimenting with other things, then we can learn a great deal of lessons that can positively impact our future.

Instead of surrendering to defeat, let us be positive and take comfort from the wonderful experiences of past defeatists who successfully turned defeats into victories in various endeavors of life: business, science, arts, writing, government, etc.

Most people at the top of every field rose from different types of conditions and circumstances: poor homes, rich homes, broken homes, luxurious homes, slums, etc. But they all had one thing in common: they experienced tough challenges and circumstances.

Everyone who truly turned defeat into victory, encountered and responded to one form of defeat or another

Irrespective of background and situations—good or bad—certain people who get knocked down and just remain on the ground without making any attempt to get up; on the other hand, there is a another category of people who react differently: they summon energy and make attempts to get up, bounce back, move forward and upward ever, learn a lesson or more, and forget about when and how they got knocked down.

If you read the lifestyles of great people who have lived on Earth, you will observe that many of them were engulfed by difficulty and negative losing situations. If you probe deeper, you will find out that each one of them encountered and overcame opposition, misfortune, discouragement and setbacks many times over.

Although it is barely impossible to succeed without encountering hardship and opposition, it is possible to use hardship to move forward and upward ever

Accidents and setbacks in many fields like aviation and medicine—just to name a few—have guided or inspired aircraft engineers and doctors to experiment with other things; this has led to better aviation and health services.

A basketball coach who wins some games and loses others, watches the videos of lost games, notes the details that led to defeats, and points them out to his team. In addition, the coach tries or experiments with other approaches or techniques until success is achieved.

The lesson is this: gain or salvage something valuable from every situation—good or bad

In any endeavor of life, nothing will really make or break us more than our attitude towards circumstances. Any person can turn defeat into victory. Always look for a lesson, and keep trying other things until you find what works out, or leads to success.

Although it’s true that the world is complex and full of challenges, it is also equally true that we often make things complex for ourselves and don’t want to figure out how we do so, or how to stop it.

We like taking credit for our victories, and want the world to know about them; but at the same time, we don’t waste time in blaming destiny and other people for each of our misfortunes or setbacks. Blaming others for everything can be destructive to everybody concerned.

On the other hand, don’t try to blame yourself to the extent of believing you will never be able to overcome defeat and become victorious. If we face our faults and challenges with a positive attitude, we will likely succeed on any stage. Being self-critical in a good way can actually help us build the faith, strength and efficiency needed for success.

The great Orville Hubbard once said: “A failure is a man who has blundered but is not able to cash in on the experience”. And how right he was, and still is! Victorious people and defeatist-turned-victors study challenges and setbacks and look at them as part of universal and eternal education. With time, they become the sharpest and most unbeatable people that could be found on Earth.

Instead of blaming people or bad luck, look at challenges or setbacks and learn from them

Without experimenting new things, many people fail to see opportunities that can make them grow bigger, stronger, and more self-reliant. Blaming bad luck never got anybody anywhere!

Another thing is that many of us use the same one or few approaches to do everything instead of experimenting or trying entirely new things. In fact, this is one of the greatest obstacles that makes it difficult for many people to turn defeat into victory.

Many of us need to try new techniques or approaches whenever we meet challenges or setbacks. Most of us have strong abilities, but without experimenting something new or fresh, we might continue to experience defeats because we persist and insist on using only one or few strategies that continue to be unproductive.

Yes, we must be persistent and insist on being active; but persistence is only one out of many ingredients of victory. In certain circumstances, we might have to try again and again with other alternatives.

It’s on report that Thomas Edison conducted thousands of experiments before he invented the electric light-bulb. The important lesson to note is this: “Edison conducted experiments”; not one experiment, but a couple of experiments—in fact, so many experiments.

He was persistent in his goal to develop a light-bulb which has stood the test of time—immortality! But was his success a one-way victory without hitches? No! His persistence paid off because he blended it with testing different experiments.

Persistence alone might not guarantee success in all situations; but if blended with experimentation, could guarantee a higher probability of success.

Conclusion

Many people go through life with a high level of persistence, determination and ambition, but fail to succeed because they remain rigid, and don’t like trying or experimenting with new approaches or techniques.

It is wise to keep focussing on our goals and not waver an inch from them. But if results aren’t forthcoming, then it is advisable to look for and experiment with an entirely new approach, or different approaches.

In addition, learn to see the good side of challenges. For all things will work together for good if you remain positive and do all you can to develop clear vision and thinking. Be courageous enough to criticize yourself constructively and in a beneficial way that can only bring out the best in you.

10. The fight of faith: why give up when time comes to fight this important battle?

The fight of faith is a very important battle in all areas of life. And the way each person handles their own battles will determine the outcomes of a lot of events in their life.

We start this chapter with a narrative about “king conscious” and “magician subconscious”; a story that will help buttress a few important points: A powerful magician (the deeper part of our mind: subconscious) once informed his king (the shallow part of us: conscious) that he had discovered a way to turn sand into gold. The king picked up interest, and knew that his kingdom would be on top of the world if the magician turned sand into gold.

The magician explained the process which sounded quite easy although it placed a demand on the king: he had to leave his habitation and office, and spend an unspecified number of days in a small building where the sand could be turned into gold.

Everyone knew it would be difficult—but not impossible—for the king to leave his habitation, lifestyle, official duties, and kingdom temporarily unguided for an unspecified number of days. It would even become more difficult for the king if his wife, counsellors or officers conspired against him and put someone else in power before his return. And if for any reason he ended up leaving the building before time, then the process would come to an abrupt end, and sand wouldn’t be turned into gold.

Finally—when the time came—after a few days of staying in the building for the operation, the king became weary and tried his best to remain in the building.

But alas, he couldn’t stay anymore; so he ended up leaving and not getting any gold. Moreover, he went back to his habitation and office, and thereafter, was called the most foolish king and leader of all time. Why? Because, with all the wisdom, and high status in society—or so he thought—he was made to stoop very low, and got nothing in return.

Actually, what the citizens of the kingdom didn’t know was that the king didn’t get anything in return because he was unable to meet up with a demand that was uncertain and required a lot of patience: staying in a small building for an unspecified number of days.

This story expresses the experiences of many people who are engaged in the fight of faith—the battle of conquering the mind and achieving important goals. This fight involves an interplay between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.

Just a brief diversion in order to make something a bit more clear: At times when someone is walking forward, they won’t take notice, or they won’t be conscious of oncoming danger because their conscious mind is elsewhere. But at the same time when their conscious mind is elsewhere, their subconscious mind—the seat of memory—sees and records everything. This is one of the reasons why, if an accident or something dangerous happens, a gifted person can still “read” or “see” what actually happened from subject’s subconscious mind; a well-trained hypnotist can do the same, even if the subject wasn’t conscious, or didn’t remember what happened.

Now back to the story which can be interpreted in many ways; it has a lesson that can be summarized in one sentence: the conscious mind often behaves in ways that bottle up the great inspiration, power and genius residing within the subconscious mind. One thing that most people are either not aware of, or have failed to recognize is that the conscious mind can exercise negative influence on the subconscious mind.

If an individual consciously believes they will fail despite all the success they have achieved, they will end up failing; the reverse is also true—if an individual consciously believes they will succeed despite the failure they have been experiencing, they will end up succeeding.

The reason why some multimillionaires or rich people commit suicide, and poor people live happily is because their conscious minds held unto a certain belief to the extent that it sank into the subconscious and caused them to either be happy or unhappy—thus leading to other actions or consequences.

If a person doesn’t have any faith deep within (in the subconscious, or subconsciously), then it will be difficult to stimulate the subconscious mind and arouse the power or genius that usually sleeps deep within it.

Despite our knowledge about positivity, why do many of us lose the battle of faith?

Most of us grew up from childhood to adulthood, and have heard a lot of positive messages from religious teachers, motivational speakers, and mentors.

We have been fully aware of popular statements such as: “you shall ask for what you want, and it will be given unto you”; “verily I say unto you, whosoever shall say unto this mountain, ‘Be removed and cast into the sea’, and does not doubt in their heart, but believes that those things which he has said will come to pass; he will have whatsoever he says”; “The kingdom of God is within you”.

But despite hearing these statements and others, and thinking we believe, doubt usually comes with a big bang on our hearts, and most of us lose the fight of faith, even before it gets started.

It’ll be difficult to win the fight of faith (for example: against poverty) to become rich, if we always expect to be (or remain) poor. Doubting the ability to get a wish is like trying to reach the north by going directly to the east.

Regardless of any situation, if we always speak negatively to ourselves, we will end up building a great wall of disbelief against our progress in the future. And regardless of how hard we might work for success, if our thoughts are saturated with negativity and fear, our efforts will be neutralized, and it will be difficult to achieve success.

So how can we acquire faith?

Faith is something that has to be pampered, fed, nourished, and even looked after, if one wishes to get good results from it. In order to obtain faith, we must consistently believe in what we want to achieve until the knowledge and impressions of it are driven from the surface of our consciousness into the depths of our subconsciousness.

According to many reputable sources, the subconscious mind takes up about ninety per cent of the whole mind, while the remaining ten per cent is conscious, and not as powerful as the subconscious mind which is the seat of memory.

The thing is that if we always strengthen our thoughts with what we believe (have faith) in, especially in a positive manner and with a positive attitude, our powerful subconscious minds wouldn’t help but respond positively. And once the knowledge of our faith (deep belief) sinks into the subconscious part of our minds, then we will have automatic faith.

If anybody fights the fight of faith and succeeds in acquiring faith, then they wouldn’t have to bother about getting faith anymore because they will always remember that they have faith and can be able to do certain things, regardless of what others can or cannot do. If you keep on telling yourself, time after time, again and again, that you are going to achieve one particular thing or another—or whatever it is that you really want to do—then in time you will do it.

All successful people, millionaires, inventors and great achievers have a lot of faith in themselves and whatever they set their hearts to do. They have a lot of belief in their own capabilities; and by having strong and positive belief over a period of time, they generated the faith and power that turned their belief into reality.

So if we keep telling ourselves in positive way that we are going to succeed, then we will succeed—but we will only succeed if we keep declaring success to ourselves, and not allow doubt (negativity) to sink through our conscious minds and take hold of our subconscious minds.

Conclusion

What made great men and women to be as great as they were in their heydays? One thing is sure: they had a sublime belief in their destinies, and they successfully fought the fight of faith by believing so much in themselves, up to such a depth that their thoughts became powerful, occupied their whole being, and worked wonders.

Each human being has unlimited potential within themself, but not many are aware that life is full of immense and unlimited possibilities. But it’s a sad tragedy of life that many people watch their hidden inner unlimited potential die without ever being tapped to the greatest extent possible; the greater tragedy is watching unlimited potential live a limited life.

Despite the limits that reality attempts to impose on us, we still have to define and go for what we want instead of leaving everything to be influenced by the hands of fate which can in turn be influenced by human faith.

Regardless of the circumstances imposed on us—synonymous with how the earth covers the precious/untapped minerals of the Earth—we have far more unlimited potential than we are usually aware of; we have far more unlimited potential than the abilities we have been able to unleash.

If we can make effort to push/drive ourselves more, we will be surprised at the greater deeds we will be able to accomplish. Thomas Edison famously said, “When you’ve exhausted all possibilities, remember this: you haven’t”.

The truth is that many people don’t reach their full potential, while others are only satisfied with settling for only a portion of it. On the other hand, only few people really make a strong decision and effort to maximize their lives by fully utilizing their inner hidden treasures—their talents and abilities.

When doing so, they unleash that hidden unlimited potential which each human being has the opportunity to tap into and materialize great deeds. One very important question that needs a good answer is this: are we ready to tap into our GOD-given human unlimited potential?

It is important to note that people who accomplish great things believe they have unlimited potential and always make appreciable effort to locate it and tap into it more and more each passing day. Nothing great/new will ever be achieved, and no difficulty will ever be surmounted if we allow family, environment, society, or current level of faith or ability determine what we can or cannot do.

Always put it at the back of your mind that human potential is unlimited, and expands without limit whenever appreciable effort is put in to work and improve on it. We must always remember and believe that we have unlimited potential; and so we have to do our utmost best to protect our hearts with positivity whenever we meet challenges.

Don’t allow the pressure of self and society to influence your unlimited potential and make it fall: “if you think you are standing firm, be careful so you won’t fall”—1st Corinthians 10:12 (The Bible).

But what is the meaning of unlimited potential?

When indirectly referring to unlimited potential, many people say “the sky is the limit”; on the other hand, unlimited potential means something even far greater than that. Although unlimited potential could mean many things, it can be defined by some of the following enlightening statements:

  • Unlimited potential means the ability, possibility or inherent capacity to go above and beyond any normal or existing level/extent.
  • Unlimited potential means the ability to continuously and endlessly grow, expand and achieve greater things.

12. The universality of GOD’s power

Each time I think about any scientific explanation for each wonderful act in creation, like the one that states sun rays travel over long distances to plants which use them to produce food for humans and animals, my mind instantly goes to certain Bible verses in Matthew 6:26, 28 and 30:

  • “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow, nor reap, nor gather anything into barns, and yet GOD feeds them…consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin…GOD clothes the grass of the field…”.

There are too many things and activities in creation that do not sow, reap, gather, or do anything. Yes, many things in creation don’t seem to do any work; yet GOD either supplies them with energy, or sponsors their activities consistently.

Without help from GOD’s universal power, natural and spiritual activities wouldn’t/won’t occur. In reality, what work does the sun do to generate rays or sunlight? Or, what work does the Earth do to summon enormous quantities of sun rays from 150 million kilometers away from the sun?

What power does the sun use to make enormous quantities of light rays travel at a speed of 300,000 kilometers per second, and within 8 minutes from the sun to the Earth? What, what and what? We may keep asking until we lose count.

GOD’s power is so universal; it can be found in the smallest and mightiest deeds in creation

Have you ever considered the birds, lilies, grass, sun, and other things or activities; and also the amount of intelligence involved in their activities? Individually, how much intelligence do you think they have? Not much, right? Why? Probably, because they don’t know anything about chemistry, geology, physics, or science.

Can the birds, lilies, grass and sun figure out how water and carbon are gathered from the atmosphere and mixed with nutrients from the soil of the earth to produce sugarcane or starch? Regardless, no scientist has been able to figure out the force behind such activities, or other related ones. How do you think bananas and oranges would know how they grow? Of course, it’s likely they won’t be able to.

According to human knowledge, bananas and oranges have no sense when compared with humans who are widely believed to have as many as five physical senses. Yet, bananas, oranges, and many other plants receive starch into their cells, the cells of their roots, vines and leaves; and they continue to produce more and more.

The thing is this: GOD’s universal power brought everything into being; the foundations of not only the Earth, but all the countless number of physical worlds that science has been able to see (from afar) out there—and spiritual worlds too.

GOD’s universal power also placed distances between various lands and levels of atmosphere, and also between one star or galaxy, and another; moreover, the same power grows every animal and human being from infants to adults, or anywhere in between.

There is located within each person a mighty, resistless, and indescribable life force that can help everyone perform tasks that could even dazzle people’s imagination.

Constantly residing within us is the power of the ever-living GOD which we use every day but don’t often recognize, probably because we’ve gotten so used to using it that we believe it belongs to us. Yes it does. On the other hand, it belongs to, and is also answerable to someone far bigger than us. And there is no limit to what we can achieve if we use the universal power in harmony with GOD’s universal spiritual laws which are outside the scope of this article.

Any wish or desire that aligns with GOD’s laws and is patiently held in faith, would attract anything from the invisible and make it manifest physically.

The universality of GOD’s power makes it possible for GOD to be contacted from anywhere in the universe—anywhere!

The universality of GOD’s power makes it possible for us to realize our dreams after we contact it directly in our hearts through what many call “prayer” or “meditation”.

It doesn’t mean that whenever a prayer or wish is granted, GOD has been influenced by prayer. GOD cannot be bribed into doing things against his will. However, when a person desires something and prays earnestly in line with GOD’s will, they form a mental image which the universal power of GOD would begin to align with in order to manifest those desires physically.

It might be hard to believe that despite GOD’s busy schedule of handling the greatest works of creation out there in the universe, our affairs are not too little, insignificant and trivial for his power to be with-held from us. Probably, we are just one out of billions of other life forms that he created and ushered into existence.

If it doesn’t take anything for GOD’s power to encompass his angels in the divine or spiritual world, it won’t take him anything to consistently encompass us with his power in this physical world. GOD’s power is so universal and much available at each person’s disposal, as much as the sunshine, rain and wind are. Only a few people take advantage of it, while many others don’t know that the same power reinvigorates the very air we breathe.

Remember the wise words of King Solomon: “The beginning of wisdom is this: get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight; prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her”—Proverbs 4: 7 and 8. A lot of power is available to those who have done a good job at getting wisdom, understanding and insight which is widely available in every part of creation—the Earth inclusive.

(3) Finally, add a third sentence to close the pitch

Typically, 2 or 3 sentences are enough for a pitch. Your ability to summarize a good idea in one sentence would give the impression you have a broad understanding about an editor’s publication/website, and the idea you are pitching.

Generally, a pitch with 3 sentences is all you need to send each time you are pitching an editor. A visit to our ancestors

If it were possible to visit the past times in which our ancient ancestors actually existed, and inform them about the wonderful inventions and discoveries of the present times or age, we might be looked upon as powerful magicians—or as magicians of the ancient gods. Also, if our ancient ancestors were able to visit the present-day times, they might feel the same way.

Until the day mankind successfully produces and operates a time machine (which has been the dream of many fictionists, and the goal of many scientists), the concept of a “time machine” will remain among the impossible feats that many people believe mankind “will never be able to achieve”—as they always say. Remember the story about the Tower of Babel, right? From GOD’s response, almost everyone will believe that people can achieve whatever they set their hearts on.

The awe-inspiring paths of science

Although it’s not yet possible to travel back to the dark ages of our ancestors, we can still take a look at history and see the awesome scientific progression of science from the past to the present: now jet planes soar in the skies at will; rockets explore part of our solar system (The Milky Way), the moon and other planet; scanners give clear views of the inner part of the living body, and mobile phones keep us in contact with anyone in the world.

But this seems to be just the beginning: science is not static; its impact is still multiplying all around us

If it were possible to take count of the number of scientific articles that have been published, we’ll be shocked by the number of times the quantity of scientific information is multiplying every decade or so.

Discovery of new knowledge, innovations and inventions are modifying and changing all the political, economic, industrial and social platforms; also, it is either overturning old, reverenced and widely-held beliefs, or making other ones obsolete.

Where is this voyage of science & technology taking us to? What more will we be able to discover in future?

Can we picture what the world would look like in the year 2500, 2600, or so? By the year 2500, scientific and technological developments could have risen to such a level that people might think that mankind’s destiny is to become little controllers of the universe—little masters of the universe.

It is widely believed that ancient magicians and the ancient gods of past ages used magical tools, potions and  unknown spells to do great deeds and wonders; in the present and future ages, science and technology will use the faith and science behind AI (artificial intelligence), computers, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and most of all, the quantum theory, which is believed to be the foundation behind earlier technologies.

By the year 2500, will we be able to control the movement and positions of objects with the invisible power of our minds? Will electronics, phones and computers be able to read our thoughts and inner commands, and do what we want without any need to touch them?

With the advanced knowledge of biotechnology and medicine, will mankind be able to strengthen people’s bodies and extend their life spans? Will mankind be able to create forms of life that have never appeared on Earth before?

Unlike prophet Elijah and some of the ancient gods who were believed to have rode on fiery chariots, will mankind be able to soar the skies effortlessly in vehicles that don’t require the use of fuel? Will mankind be able to send space ships to nearby and distant planets, solar systems and galaxies?

Will mankind be able to discover and interact with other more intelligent forms of life that live outside our galaxy?

Possibilities abound because of past & present planted seeds of technology

Although it looks bleak and hopeless for many scientific dreams to turn into reality, the seeds of technology that have been planted support the possibility that anything imagined can be achieved—just anything. Faith, modern science and technology—not chanting and incantations—could give mankind the power to achieve anything.

But, once again, where are all these scientific & technological advancements leading us to?

Are they leading us to hell, heaven, or anything in between? What will be the final termination point of this amazing, unending and unpredictable voyage of science and technology?

What will be greatest and most unsurpassable transition in history?

What will mark the most distinct departure from past and present civilizations?

What is the limit that mankind won’t be able to go beyond?

Unless mankind succumbs to the evil forces of selfishness, stupidity and chaos—just like it plays around with nuclear energy—the greatest deeds that can be achieved are certainly inevitable.
